This is the Truth Network kingdom pursue ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary passion together we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore is the Memorial Day weekend. So were going to make a memory with you. I say I will never forget this Memorial Day for lots reason God is given us some amazing guests always like how did I end up the luckiest person on this planet to meet such people to hear their stories really share them on the air with my friends that are listening today I'm so grateful for each of you listening and I think you're going to be grateful you listen to this I can tell you all my goodness, if you listen to Christian cargo show yard he met Shelley, Lance and Brian shot we talk to her little bit. Our book unrecoverable in American woman's rescue and says in the title. It says from a Turkish prison. But this is Robbie's change of her title, I would. I would say unrecoverable American woman's rescue in a Turkish prison because as what happened right. Shelley and I'll never forget when the first times I interview you must spend 2010 11 you said some that's in my soul. It will always be in my soul said there had been a drug addict prostitute in all involved in the things that were being connected to people that were literally murderers and all these different things in there and what you would think would be the worst hellhole on this planet Earth in a Turkish prison was the first place that I can ever remember in my life that I felt free.I I bring her back ever been in my life and I remember you saying that you know that there was no man there that was wanting to take advantage of me. The drugs weren't there. They couldn't take advantage of me. However, Jesus was and and and he came in such a beautiful way and not unlike Shelley and Brian. His letter Brian very involved in the story very much and included in getting this book to market unrecoverable brine welcome to and so I also have with us today Christian McMasters and she has a website deceptively cool called the liberty bell and that's B EL LE is back and put it she does look anything like your pictures, but liberty.

I may not Christian welcome having me yet so your real name is in liberty, it's, it's Kristin. That's right, my name is not liberty balance christening Masters but actually most people who follow me communist now or liberty really, but your story not unlike mine or anybody else's is is is a big part of why God's giving you this platform hundred percent. And so, how exciting we get to talk about that story well.

Thinking it's really interesting to me as I was reading this book this week unrecoverable, which again it's a kingdom pursuits a Christian cargo.com regarding find out about it. There's pictures of Sheri in the prison and all sorts of stuff that's there at the website. If you go to the links that are there and see what's going on with that but you know God always has us on a lesson plan and my lesson plan seem to be this compassion of Jesus this week like oh my goodness, no matter what I do, no matter how far run.

The matter what in the world goes on. He's coming after me. And there's this line from the Asselin series books where you know there's this young guy named Didio his mother is very, very, very sick and he goes all over the place trying to find Aslan because Aslan was to be able to cure his mother and he was just desperate like desperate like in a Turkish prison.

Desperate, and while he's there desperate as he could be. Here's the conversation that is as CS Lewis wrote it and it just speaks volumes to my heart.

One of those things I can't get out of my soul… But please, please, what you can't you give me something that will cure my mother.

Until then, he'd been looking at the lines great feed on the huge claws on them now in his despair. He looked at his face and what he was surprised.

What surprised him as much, as anything in his whole life for the tawny face was been down near his own. Wonder of wonders, great shining tears stood in line size. They were such big bright tears, compared with degrees own for a moment he felt is that the lien must really be sorry about his own mother, and he was himself, my son, my son said Aslan I know brief is great like you can't. You can't possibly go somewhere that he's not going to be there like looking you in the eyes.

Shelley and saying I I'm I'm right here with you like oh my gosh in those in the in the stories of your drug overdoses were either literally like packed in ice you still sensed in their heart go back moment when my arm and I you I knew what I was doing and I think that I didn't go powerless.

Now and then I go through that magic by Maryann being alone with God and that dark that I like forever, how long it by five whatever reason he chose to give me that back enchantment, bringing back I get couldn't understand why I didn't like Larry. Did you know I had to continue to go out there and they and that mock and held my life and the story is like oh my goodness.

As you read the book you can find a few Larry is and how this affected Larry as he felt like he'd murdered Shelley because he's the one that injected her with that and and it led to another God moment in the this book is just it's just got God's tracks all over these these places that you would think he would be no place to be found. But once again grace is like wow this is why Mary. This is why Mary broke that bottle of perfume. This because she he was there in the deepest darkest situations that you could possibly think of. His eyes were filled with tears for all sorts of reasons that you know Jesus understands and so how beautiful and so Kristin is you hear all that. What is it bring up in your heart when I just reminds me of the saving me. I actually I grew up in chart so I was blessed that I was protected and I my dad was a pastor but everything is like a ritual of rights and wrongs, dues and downs.

It was never Jesus now realize it until last year. June 24 I was going to a lot of stuff personally and emotionally and Jesus assured me I didn't know him and it's it's a different bondage in your and religious bondage then you know people who have never been in religion. I grabbed a religion and its bondage misery because I'm constantly unaware to get or attain salvation when the battle site for by grace he saved.

It's not of yourselves but I kept thinking I could do something this Peter Laird Remy baronet Nina, any chance we get and 90 Jesus and he's avian. It's amazing so different because the 10, I (he changed me. I can't change me in our it's like it's the same but so different if you live in a new Shelley story. She grew up in church to she told me this morning that I had to have some more details about things she was saying that when I was a little girl. My mom said I was the most faithful right tell you were saying prayers. What was it like showing light on that ring really can affect I grew up calling her cell allowing wait to hear the grandmother story about salamander blessed your lucky day. I know I'm lucky to be part of it. This memorial today kingdom pursuits again. You can find out more about liberty or Kristin find out about the book unrecoverable. It's all a kingdom pursuits.com you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com back God takes your passion and uses it to build the kingdom and you know I remember years ago the first time Shelley was on the show. It was actually called Robbie's hobby. Yet the way back to get there, but then we were there. Remember Shelley and and the idea was always that might God put some on your heart that you felt like you were supposed to be doing and then you know he would come alongside you and and and and make that happen is so clear back then in 2010, 2011, the First Amendment, Shelley.

She had on her part to write a book write about her experience in Turkey. Area experiences of her life and you know is we walk with God. He all of a sudden opens doors and we talked about what a remarkable thing it was that she met Brian and Brian. I can tell, is critical to the process of this book getting done because if you know Shelley new matter. She has a lot of stories and she is particularly gifted in sharing those stories in a way she can put you there so that you know what it's like to be in Turkey in a prison with a cyst on your ovary and your and your and you're laying Mary and cooing and all the stuff that that that she can put you there okay and she can put you in a lot of different places, but Brian, you clearly played a critical role in a because if you've ever tried to write a book. A big part of it is getting what belongs and what doesn't belong and and Brian you are a big part of that right. I met Shelley at our ministry with the devotion of her prison diary and from there I really felt your story should be told so did become an issue of how do you tell the story I started what part you leave them apart. You take out and I think you've mentioned earlier in the previous program. It is a tricky thing to talk about things like prostitution and drug abuse without being so explicit that it not really something a Christian, comfortable reading so a lot of challenges and then try to put it all down on paper and put something together that we felt would be of benefit to both the person struggles into the parent who has a child is gone down that path and in others also who can get something from different parts of her story is a lot in there that is so well said Brian I Ike I thought about that to that you know a good friend of mine. It's amazing God puts his people in my life. Actually one of my best friends is James Banks who wrote the book personal particles because his son was trapped in heroin addiction and peer addiction, heroin addiction and last year they came out with a joint book that's bit told the sun story of what it was like to be tracked trapped in heroin addiction and he ends up youth minister in Wellington today after, but a long, long, long journey into heroin addiction, like Shelley story and her father story actually fee if you know the background of that but what Hope I'm telling you, if you you think your child may not be recoverable. That's why they named this book unrecoverable. I'm just guessing because like all my gosh there was a huge part of this story, a huge gigantic part of the story was not just that Shelley's parents were praying for, but her grandmother that was actually her aunt, which is just a beautiful part of the story Shelley I mean when you got that letter from her in the Turkish prison. What wanted that she liked to know she'd been praying for you ever since you were born I know God letter got through and only her letter got me and when I read that letter I knew only a thing.because I had heard. Here's your thank God your grandmother praying for you.

I think they were kind my mother writing more in.

So much with me but my grandmother never stop praying for me and when I increasing her letter made it to me faithfully every candidate over there and I would just stand there waiting a lot of my grandmother, but she started to sugarcoat thing and she was a big part of my journey. During my incarceration of answering a lot of questions for me and not sugarcoating thing and and praying through with me in out there. Well I while I was there is a phenomenal thing and so the unit was an interesting thing for all of us in John Eldridge's daily prayer which it is parts of it. I read every single day is just a beautiful thing but there's a place in it. We actually thank God for all the people praying for you and you can agree with that. In the spirit liked and I agree with everybody that is praying for me in the spirit of God, and you think the Holy Spirit that is putting on people's heart to pray for you, but Kristin I imagine that's the same thing in your own story follows a pastor I'm guessing he may pray for you somewhere along the line, and so could you tell us about that, I'm dying to know about the conversation between you and your dad after you came to Christ. How yeah I mean there's a lot to that definitely think it was more than just my diet is a church family and you know I am very blessed to have pastors you are constantly interceding on my behalf in the writer takes a bath and so I mean it was kind of that. It was interesting to just the simplicity and didn't mind adding a pastor and just I like it solid son, Jesus, and that is not like settling out Frank. I don't have to work anymore and him just really encouraging me like his word is true and you get to Reston and there is not simplicity in that piece that I have conflicts is idolizing time taking away And so Justine would arrest not only in that simplicity in Jesus as the covering that my dad so annoying that my dad is. His heart infection when he was was railing and he now being it would actually build that relationship senses and often I can imagine that the trip to Allie's people praying for you. It makes in a like wow I just you know if you list a Christian program you heard about Shelley's prayer for on on the line worth close it not been torn by the dogs you think of the same kind of thing. Like when your prayers get answered like I do really do hear you and it's fascinating to me. You know is if we hear Sherry story the way that all these things come together with her own story. Yes it you know it when I think about my own struggles and and my own things that that I went through for Sherry and for Shelley and I we we share something very neat and common and that is where both saved by reading the Bible and and not just anybody.

Should we both had the same Bible should get a business surveys it was she the star described the Bible in this book I'm like oh it's blue leather with the with the silver pages. It was the same email… And she also sure something else that that I think it's just critical.

Is this hunger for God's word where she she read it and she read it and she read it while she was in prison and she still reading it. To this day, but I love what you say Shelley about Bible study is a very individual thing, like God has something for you and so it's it's an individual place where you can share stuff right well I think like what got talked about tractor you know and when you get writer now a lot of time will get back pressure that negative God word so powerful black and we will run somebody out here right don't get or they didn't look now, I argue now but I like excited about it like I am like when you give away. It no longer a threat or I think that God is God and we hear the Internet without giveback and awakening to a true that a bike while on, we wonder what other people but a lot of people aren't adequately invite even be able to receive that sometimes we need to just take that Kaiser keep that instrument special between God and are now back how much you love.the treasure all about what to look for that start out all or part of the way it would be treasure anymore about the different necklaces. Katrina don't cast you pearls before swine. His name is Danny and he pointed out that you have two oyster Pearl is a pain right date they were they were they were wounded, and that by that sand and so they built this thing to cover their wound and so thus you have this treasure right and and so when you've been wounded as is you can tell by all of us, Shelley, me, Brian.

All you know those things are intimate to you and you and you and and God is bound up that wound in a pearl.

So if you disco casting that to somebody that will stomp on it and turn on. But there's many times it when you do it Shelley I think that we would be missing something significant is I'm picturing you.

You're in the Turkish jail you got your friend Susie, who was your madam at one point in time in the bunk below you and every time you come across something like that you like Susie look at this it look at this in the Bible and and and she would look at you like how I knew that right, but she didn't know I did it not like like how God showing me but whether she knew I really don't know but I don't think that at that point in her life.hadn't building with Dr. Harry but the cool thing is you know the whole story. And if you read the book, you'll find out a lot more about it is every time you did that. Shelley, you are making her hungrier like Shelley is getting something I don't have and a lot of times our lives are just an example for people to go wow why are they so excited. What what is the big deal Kristin. I mean, I know you've seen that right in your classroom people looking well.

Once again we run out of brake but will be back in a minute. With so much more kingdom pursuits estate 10. Again, you can find out more about liberty and about Shelley kingdom pursuits.com you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to kingdom pursuits where we hear how God takes and uses it to build the kingdom and were so blessed to have with us today. Actually, my dear friend Shelley, Lance, in her book unrecoverable with Americans woman rescue an American woman's rescue from the Turkish Pres. and her friend Brian who helped her get the book in print and Kristin McMasters, the Liberty Bell and find out a lot more about liberty in just a minute. But before we do that we got Amy Cabo with the cure on and Amy help us get some healing today. The natural way. Eric and how I I like you, completely like completely cocaine Friday going a family night at all and the cure is actually about the cure today I want to clock out the live show so you can call in and talk to the cure meisters can help you. You know with this kind of things. Great show today. Amy God bless, I thank you so much calling the question so you know we had a chance to know. Obviously, you know, I haven't had a chance to reminisce for Shelley for years and years was really really cool to have read this book and showing I actually talk for an hour this morning fog going out in advance of the questions after the book about how this applet happened with this person. It's such a fabulous book again. It's unrecoverable you're going to find it there kingdom pursuits.com but we also have Kristin with us and Kristin has a passion to like how does she take her passion now that you found out you know wow God got this relationship with her and in which I was talking to her because she's an instructor in college actually said what's difference in the way you instruct today versus and she said I can just tell he's right there with me and like man. You know it's like the 16 Psalm is like the Detroit there at my right hand.

I mean, you can't miss. So Kristin, but your passion itself has to do with political science and those kind of things that you instruct Fisher, 70, passing the leg gave me had been there since I was a kid and it's cool because I think before the Lord's evening was very nice cannot avoid or outweigh everything is about time to pursue what I wanted to get for myself. But when I'd save me, it's more like what he's given me this that I get to use to you know actually glorify him. And that's the awesome thing is that everything the thing I had every passion, every desire is given to me by hand and I get tomorrow. Actually pursue those beforehand anything about that and that's with us in it about me in hand in the fact that he's given it to me so I do when I waste that passion, nor could anyone miss that had eyes to see it right that like Shelley story there so many God moments throughout the political science like of the United States of America is a God story, is it not I mean every turn we wouldn't be here. Yeah, you know hundred percent yeah and I think that I love that because it's something that whereas Americans are incredibly blessed we have a country and liberty in a way that really no country throughout history ever had and I really really want.

I believe it's something that as Americans we can actually fight for it by ourselves being educated and knowledgeable, and that's what I really want to deal I'm not really into the partisan debates in getting into the polarization. I really believe that if I can help educate people about the Constitution. It's an incredibly unifying document not my goals of the Liberty Bell is kind of just the advocate for the Constitution and think Lenny gave the Constitution of voice in this world that models with every other type of emotional partisan argument.

The Constitution needs a voice, and we need to be able to pay attention to that. And that's kind of my goal is to fight for pride.

It's a beautiful thing and so Shelley you you had a chance to experience Turkish a constitution, so to speak and and one of the neat things I saw in your book that I do.

I think you shared beautifully and again you can tell Shelley's heart is one of the biggest out there was how wonderful the Turkish people really were to you in spite of you know what people may have thought it would be like to be in a Turkish jail block my family you know all by no link back to the big night story you know that helpful Kristin and people are tortured and brutalized their but the court might very nothing like that at all yet the day in jail, I believe were were traumatic. For me, because it wasn't the most. But it was exactly what I needed to go through and I what orchard or hurt ever dared the people were very kind to me.

There even in the prison at night transferred over into the prison, I would blessed enough to be in a newly built with brand-new Mac even though they can apply think Borat batting.

They did give us a map, but we had a blanket. Everything had to be part from the really really neat stories about Turkish hospitality to me was everything was freaked out about you having to have this surgery and Turkish hospital while you're in prison now.

Now I if you have an surgery in an American prison.

Okay, just picture what that might be now. Just picture the prospects of you gotta have the cyst removed it but didn't. Shelley went underwent in the Turkish hospital in that story of what that surgeon did for you when you woke up just blows my mind now you gotta read the book on going. I want you to just share that like oh my goodness he did more than just to Assist dry a card from the previous ectopic pregnancy that was butchered, but your job done it, 30, 35 years 40 years ago and it really traumatic car right below my belly button and when he went in and removed this to stop my ovary to cut out that are and like surgery and remove that our involvement in line down and I just I was blown away because that was like at garlic `painful thing for me. I was so ashamed of it all my life. It was another way of God saying everything that the enemy cook for you.

I'm to restore back watch before your eyes. Shelley that Dr. actually spoke English right and what is he say to you what you need when he told me I could have children yet, but you know I definitely have to.org.

I never really like I was older now and not probably to me in my two CHILDREN, but that was something that I never I never looked at it like children that Shelley you will have children and I think in my mind, heart, godly pain, there will be people of childlike faith and I will be able to minister to and love to in life you know what I think is just like this Dr. when you eat when you read in the book and you should read it because she did goes into great detail of this man's heart. He was that she was in prison glad surgery and I have friends that are in prison. This is not a pleasant thing. I mean those doctors I'm talking about American doctors you know there's not anything I want to face but here she was, this Turkish prison, they gave her the guy who was over. Surgery for the prison. He did all the stuff for her and he treated her like when you when you listen to the dialogue between the two is just like oh my goodness and and so God has his people in every corner of the world and he certainly had them when they were pending, the Constitution, right Kristin Tatian is based on the engineering belief that men which is given the Constitution as well as much more unrecoverable. Again all the stuff that came to Perseus.com look unrecoverable as well as Liberty Bell. Her website you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.

Welcome back to kingdom Perseus where we hear how God takes and uses it to build the kingdom and were so blessed to have with us today. Actually, my dear friend Shirley Lance in her book unrecoverable with Americans woman rescue an American woman's rescue from a Turkish prison and her friend Brian who helped her get the book in print and Kristin McMasters, the Liberty Bell find out a lot more about liberty in just a minute.

But before we do that we got Amy Cobb over the cure on and Amy help us get some healing today. You know with those kind of things. Great show today. Amy God bless, I thank you so much calling the day, plus you so you know we had a chance to know. Obviously, you know, I haven't had a chance to reminisce with Shelley for years and years was really really cool to have read this book and showing I actually talk for an hour this morning fog going out defensively questions after read the book about how this happened. What happened with this person. It's such a fabulous book again. It's unrecoverable you're going to find a pair kingdom pursuits.com but we also have Kristin with us and Kristin has a passion to like how does she take her passion now that you found out you know wow… This relationship with her and in which I was talking to her because she's an instructor in college actually said what's difference in the way you instruct today versus and she said I can just tell he's right there with me and like man.

I know you can about that and that's with us and it's about me in hand and the fact that he's given it to me so I do when I waste that passion, nor could anyone miss that had eyes to see it right that like Shelley story there so many God moments throughout the political science like of the United States of America is a God story, is it not a meaning every turn we wouldn't be here. Yeah Roy hundred percent yeah and I think that I love that because it's something that whereas Americans are incredibly blessed we have a country and liberty in a way that really no country throughout history's ever had and I really really want. I believe it's something that as Americans we can actually fight for it by ourselves being educated and knowledgeable, and that's what I really want to deal I'm not really into the partisan debates in getting into the polarization. I really believe that if I can help educate people about the Constitution. It's an incredibly unifying document. The Constitution needs a voice, and we need to be able to pay attention to that. And that's kind of my goal is to fight for pride's beautiful thing and so Shelley you you had a chance to experience Turkish a constitution, so to speak and and one of the neat things I saw in your book that I do. He did all the stuff for her and he treated her like when you when you listen to the dialogue between the two is just like oh my goodness and and so God has his people in every corner of the world and he certainly had them when they were pending, the Constitution right person teaching is based on the engineering belief that men which is given the Constitution as well as much more unrecoverable. Again all the stuff that came to persons.com book unrecoverable as well as Liberty Bell. Her website you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to pursuits where we hear how God takes your passion and uses it to build the kingdom and again the God always gives me these poster children on this memorial day of people that have a passion for his kingdom for for eternity.

It's going to be great and then you know you get a chance to go on this adventure with God as you begin to write a book that is put on your heart for years and years and years and years consumption to Shelley's been working on this project since I've known her know in 2010 and here it is 2021 God brings this thing come to life and then you just heard Christian McMasters with the Liberty Bell and you know her passion about the Constitution, so we interrupted her in mid Constitution so you don't want to do that because you know will be un-American on Memorial Day.

So go ahead now. I mean I think one of the biggest things people do not realize is that every country is founded on the assumption that human nature so you can found a country or government on the assumption that human nature is good. Are you confounded on the assumption that human nature is bad.

Our founders John Witherspoon. I don't know if you know him. He was at Princeton, Jonathan Edwards. ITS a great awakening.

I'm not that old, familiar, and he was he was at posteriors now and he really meant by James Madison. Here is the father.

I went to the main themes that was played into the makeup of the Constitution is this assumption that men are naturally right and so where to build a government based on the assumption that we know that many are likely to abuse and use power in ways that are not good that he created an entire system of government based on that assumption that men are going to go after – and to counteract and prevent any single branch of government, or person from taking complete control and power. So if you look at the power structures in the states.

It's completely broken up in all aspects and the federal government and then if you look at the state government and the local governments and that's all based on the reality that without Jesus meant is that no men are bad and because of that we lasted 230 or 40 or 50 years, which is amazing. Totally amazing because were not basing on this IDR.

This threat is that when an idealistic idea that men are good right actually be facing the reality that now in our hearts are deceitfully wicked about how things and that is what actually has helped the structure of our government survive is that simple truth and I hate that that those you know out there listening could see your hands while you because it is very demonstrative, like if you wondered if this was Kristin's past passion, let me just share with you all.

Yeah, I mean she's right there with you and you know these these powers right that we we've heard about the balance of power all whole lot right in the and and you know so there's structure but seeing it and it's something that wow we can be educated in to see how we make it function the way but I think a lot of people get frustrated governments moving so slowly hampered by too many hindrances. Actually, that's how it's supposed to work. If it wasn't there that you know Congress could pass thousands of laws a year and people don't think that through the Congress is so slow.

Guess what Congress is supposed to be so. Because if it wasn't so we could have two or 3000 lost past year, which actually introduced every year. Nobody wants that. So right. If there's anybody I know II would not have known this until I read the book that I read the book and so you need to read the books he can find out all these fun facts, but I don't think I know anybody who's been protected more by the American government, Shelley Lance, in spite of the fact that you might think what she was dealing in drugs and and and and certainly prostitution.

How could she be protected by the government. But man Shelley how thankful are you for police every time I pray please… Let me baby my life and they you know exactly what would happen. I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong thing and I would get arrested and they would always be a police officer that was it. A child of God on the thinking and somehow they way I'm over day is your lucky day your life will let me just tell you I got as I got a jump in his family got a minute like man. Believe or not.

Shelley was one of those prostitutes that a serial murderer took her on like an order in for this whole deal and like oh my gosh this story is absolutely unbelievable. I mean this like the government is there like it says in Romans 14 right, but it's there for our protection. There is no liberty without law, which is the irony so it's it's it's absolutely beautiful. I can't begin to tell you the joy for for parents or grandparents for those who are struggling. Oh my goodness, unrecoverable American woman's rescue from a Turkish person that's very kingdom pursuits. Plus, how cool you can get in the Liberty Bell at the first stage is here she's she's out there establishing this platform and her websites.
