Wow-zers!  It's good one.  A Pastor along with a young mom who lost several babies on the same show.  Yet, their stories and faith are so connected.  It's a God thing.

The cuticle offer the devil's worst nightmare with the and out podcast where we talk to real men who have real stories realize it is time to man up your chosen Truth Network podcast is starting in just a few seconds in joy at Sherritt but most of all, thank you for listening to The Truth Podcast Network. This is the Truth Network kingdom pursuits here from ordinary people instilled with an extraordinary passion together we explore the stories of men and women who take what they love and let God turn their passion into the kingdom pursuits now live from the truth. Your host Robbie Gilmore. I am so thrilled that you are with us here today on kingdom pursuits are one of the mentioned first for those beautiful slick Christian card I had a bit of a problem with her?

I theater file that I put this, tricky sometimes when you do these things and so I wanted to know that the podcast if you want to hear the entire episode in spirit. Christian car guy.com it's already available and you can go listen that and on the man whenever you want to later on as looking pursuits be as is we get into the show as well.

All the episodes are Christian card I theater and can pursuits be there but today we are very excited with some amazing gas on kingdom pursuits where God takes our passions and use it to build the kingdom. When Pastor Ron Smedley in his mission. Recovery is his ministry. Christians who are addicted to drugs will welcome Ron really really good lower broadcasting in Raleigh right now W DR you so Pastor you there some phenomenal statistics I read at your website about how many I you know Christians struggle with addictions in large numbers dumbly after almost 40 years now starting to caseworker with the state of Texas. I don't see a lot of difference between people in the world and people in the church because there are so many things out there that can get it dictated and even though we know Christ. We still live in a fallen world, and so the problem in my opinion Robbie. I think it's the most relevant need in our nation of epic proportions, not only with the addictions but all the other collateral stuff like the people that are affected negatively. So every community and demographic is affected by I can agree with you more because Jesus came to give us life and give it abundantly that if we want tell the truth and say all I got this addiction. I got this problem. I got you know just really humble ourselves and and and and seek help. Like your ministry.

I mean it it it it mean so much and so I'm very excited to have you on today as well as her other guest Rosemary Pope and Rosemary.

You have sort of a tragic story. In fact, it's a very tragic stretch and say sort of Rosemary, but God is used it in in so many different ways. Maybe you can share with our listeners a little bit about your book. It's called joy and suffering, a memoir of a couple of pregnancy losses and how they found happiness excited and capital pregnant a lot. Whine like they are not there. We were told in the middle of making a couple early miscarriage is an offer at intellect with or beautiful children that we are able to rate your current monthly sent surveys here on earth and I and I also have to tell you that the reason was really excited, is that in in my life.

I lost my know I was losing it because I had a brother that was older than me that that was born and I just lived a few hours and then died.

Actually had my name first and I named him Robert first, Junior and and then sadly back in those days the way they handled it led to trauma in my mother's life or eventually she would try to take her own life.

As a result of all this, and so this topic. I know this in its it's kind of like Ron's topic. There's a lot of people out there that are suffering and and is nothing that you just leave alone. Is it rest for me and some that you got a deal with it like the older woman. I cannot cry more and more broken may fail because they didn't get paid, hold your baby and even see your baby and packed away like that down then they work it left Galway in the great on their own and will not am very open topic. People are willing to embed it is thankfully becoming more and tempting people or are willing to work through and more more resources are available and I you know I see the similarity Ron in your topics right absolutely understand.

We can be judgmental about people that use but sometimes they experience things like trauma, loss, or abuse, rape, and so there self-medicating trying to escape the pain and are to seek for you and then they get addicted." So, in all my years at 22 years of dealing with addiction.

I've never found one that doesn't have some kind of pain were trying to avoid deep-rooted chain with the vicious cycle.

It's chains big time right but Isaiah 61 is for us. In both cases Rosemary where Jesus came in a bind up the brokenhearted, and then was to preach good hurting and helpless to bind up broken hearts, set captives free.

So that's Jesus's mission statement that's typically our mission statement mission recovery right so you can see wow I'm so again we got joy and suffering, you expect to say I I have these so Rosemary's last name is Poe right and so Rosemary would you be offended if I had some as I do these things is called Robbie's riddles but I had before.

I have sent the use your last name somewhat of a humorous way. Is that okay well I'm doing okay that is speaking of Poe right. Speaking of addiction. Speaking of so the Pope did not know this but he was speaking to present Trump and VP Biden and he says to both of you know it was in a big crowd. They were out there from about people. He said you know with a wave of my hand. I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy. Now, this joy will not be a momentary display like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts for the rest of their lives. Whenever they speak of this day they will rejoice and so Donald and Joe, they replied in unison well seriously doubt that with one wave your hand there Your Honor how pervasive it your evidence that you get thank you show us so the Pope slapped him left and the right so you know you didn't know this will either know what the Pope said to the heretic successfully lobbied to be buried on hollow ground. Is that what we have here is a failure to excommunicate and I hope this was worth the payoff of Francis was not the first choice. You know, Pope Francis the first. Actually it was a lesser-known man, Cardinal peasant Bacher and he been a man of God an early age of pacifist all his life. When W-2 W-2 broke out. He was conscripted and forced to fight became a bomber pilot right a few months in the war he was shot down but survived miraculously losing one Democrat continued his work with the church after leaving the war, stated his mission wanting to help the less fortunate. He made his way to Africa eventually found his way to Zimbabwe where there was called to duty with a diamond mine and had a cave-in and after making a very dangerous journey in the mind. Oh we got a leave that joking Mitch.

I was worried about me so much more. Ron Smedley and Rosemary Powell pursuits, which I'm really welcome back to where we they were so blessed to have with this Pastor Ron Smedley mission recovery. Christians with addictions and what a wonderful discussion were having with him as well as Rosemary Pope, who is the author of joy in suffering a memoir of a couple's pregnancy losses and how they found happiness and I should tell you that both are highlighted the kingdom pursuits.com as well as a podcast be there later today if you wanted to hear some of the strain had to go somewhere. Nonetheless, you know, Rosemary said she likes good humor, so we know that she can so we left our hero Cardinal peasant background to sketch up today quickly. Alright so we he had been a unfortunately about a bomber pilot were to and then unfortunately, he lost and I yeah and then he was in this mining accident which horribly caused them to lose an arm I and so decades later in a new Pope was to be elected in so many in the cot in the Cardinal college, they believe that he was the perfect man for the position, but sadly many more believe that the prisoners just couldn't get behind a one eyed one armed flying papal people leader is worth all that, but it was. I enjoyed it anyway so that I actually would have a riddle and I do. And so for you to call in a win today at 866-34-TRUTH 87884 I have student calling and telling was the first pope was the first pope is a hands-on anyone hands down so 866-348-7884 866-34-TRUTH I have to tell Susan. First pope and it was a hands-on deal and he wanted 866-34-TRUTH 878843. You know, maybe join our program.

Right now I don't become great. I read 487884. I would love to hear your answer or if you got something that you want as pastor Smedley or Rosemary you know you have some similar story. I'm sure they would love to interact with you. That's the beauty of live radio is you guys get to take part in it and we want to take part in it because that's who you guys are the shows for the people listen so Rosemary is as is it as it happened in your own story. Can you share what what that happened what happened in your marriage during that time between you and your husband. When Matt was kind of was that it made it more difficult or did you grow closer together so we where I married Michael about 20 years elderly first lot now we know and that we where learning how to navigate life together as a married couple, and learning how you life in general and and we only really great mentors in our life and really good example when a married life should be like and that we did everything we thought we were like well aware man in a pretty bad and the only thing we know to do that mildly high knowing that we can add Holly God in our life and and I just had to call me Solomon is you gets really distract and guide Holly got line so just to go into that questionable angle. Maybe some have this happen. What would you warn them say, you know, as it is, as you may be that you cover this in your book. What would you say to somebody came to you and said wow you know I'm really struggling from blaming my spouse for this loss or whatever they might be, you know into because I can imagine late and that would happen and why baby and make a stronger impression or impact on the life matter how long they carried 540 or five monster full-time stronger impression on the mom and dad. I so naturally the mom and probably think about it, all the time. It's something it doesn't leave their mind for a long time Holly fair and dad are the head, yet he cannot think about it yet endocrine but he's not going to be immersed in it all the time to be able to compartmentalize the credit side. I think it is that men we have this they call it a nothing box, I think that we can go into only start to hurt just we go into this like what are you thinking about nothing, but not expressed right so as you listen to that discussion Ron because obviously the you end up with the product of a lot of these people you know what what are some of the things that you would counsel somebody that would kind, that, upon a lot of people don't get it medication to try to escape pain and are all kinds of things out there other than God that we can turn to. Don't help us deal with the pain and then we end up getting find ourselves in bondage, and so the cycle continues on, but I just am sorry for grommet Rosemary story, but I've heard that hundreds of times and we just want people to know that you can lean into Jesus is the one. First of all, like the woman he said in late July condemning penny also transforms our life anything he puts us in a community and people so much need community because right now were going to this pandemic and people are isolated and it's a horrible thing for people that are in pain. They don't need isolation they need connection.

So the Lord not only gives us his transformative grace, but he also gives us a community can pray for us when we needed you can check on us and you can encourage us to show compassion in our walk and that was what you said Rosemary you had you had mentors or people that you felt like a role models can you take us inside of that a little bit. Who were those people and and how did they speak into that situation. My parent actually dealt with in a letter locking and well and being able to empathize with.

I that bad ankle is really not in my head and family and there's a couple pastors in my father-in-law that after him and my mother-in-law. They had actually been together.

They were in eighth grade and felt Ali.

Now you always drive that got very late-night phone call ending in October. I actually teaching anything in the past. The other elders at our church.

They were just Ali. There whenever we needed them like the hospital with they definitely get that they can't that all are in our house. Now there how we go there or just an outstanding and related charts may be like that in the church parking lot just having the conversation and see I don't want that this discount that at all because you know I remember when I got my leg crushed him. They had to take me by ambulance long from Murphy, North Carolina and Winston-Salem, which is quite a ride in the middle of the night I got here like two or three in the morning and there were like 30 or 40 people from the church there waiting on us. When we got there and I can't tell you the time that the nurse looked at me and said wow what church do you go to and I should like to Remember she said what you guys show up, you bring a crowd in the witness of that. I've never forgotten it.

You know it is just one of those places that Jesus showed up for me in that minute that was just absolutely huge like I really felt like I was part of that community and and part of something bigger than just you know facing this tragedy on my own, especially related to my calls. People struggle with stress playing the church should be the greatest support group in and of itself. People shouldn't have to find anything outside of the world of the church in the world are barred they should be able to find it in the church and it has a supportive community to help us in Jesus things ourselves. That's done. Community helps us in our lives and our walk.

That's what Jesus said to know when I was sick, you can visit when I was in prison know where were you suggest your very presence. I still lives with an opportunity to hear and have this opportunity. So we got a lot more pursuits come up. Mission recovery and joy in suffering a memoir of a couple's losses all their suits.com but I Called in that man for the first phone 866-3478. Welcome back where we got our passion to build the kingdom.

We are so honored to have with us Ron Smedley and Rosemary Pope. Ron is with Mission recovery and Rosemary her book joy and suffering, a member of the couples pregnancy losses and how they found happiness and you know the ways to get connected with Ron's ministry will find out more about that here shortly but next up well one thing is we got all kinds of rivers, which I'm very excited to stem alignment first to go talk to Amy Cabo with the cure is calling you name me your on kingdom pursuits good morning, so good news. You guys got a whopper show coming up at 1 o'clock today on the cure.

I hope you have a great show coming on 1 o'clock Eastern. It's called the cure and it's going to be right here on the Truth Network. Thanks. Okay. Moving back to Qatar little which were very excited about who was the first pope and we have Chuck calling so check your on kingdom pursuits good morning. So who do you think Chuck was the first pope, Pope John and I like that. I never thought about it.

So tell me about Pope John well.

Work with you here, Chuck, that I let that that the other was John the apostle, and in his own way and Jesus deftly laid hands on him and and so you know he was certainly called to be an apostle and so it was a beautiful thing.

I would I would go with, you know, John. The author of the book of John hay so you know your winners first were concerned, there is no absolute right answer to this but I do love that you called in so check product called well I'm like I do to the abortion clinic.

You're exactly right.

40 days for life there out there all the time. Absolutely wonderful stuff and actually on my producer Bethann is one of those that this is faithful in that way. I place a check.

God bless thank you for calling in today in your winter great place to reach out there Gateway care.

That's good to know where is it now call Hillsboro Street on Hillsboro St. in Clemens late women's care. Wonderful. Thank you for much of that check. I bless capricious: thank you. All right, we have Scott's Barton who has a guest for Scotty syllabus Robbie great day of this. If you have some wonderful gas. I am excited to hear more of what they have, who would you say was the first pope, Scott Peter, and I think that's what the Catholics definitely say he was the original deftly know he was a hands-on Pentagon when you think about Peter right was he was well. Thank you for being with us today. Scott appreciate Conan welcome Robbie. Keep up the great work. Thank you I appreciate you very much God bless. All right, so getting back to Ron and and Rosemary Ron.

I'm Tom cannot interested this.

How can people are you know your publicist was trying to get your ministry out there. What what what is there a message that you're trying to get out to the church or is there some way that people can connect with you okay*parole officer Russell will also decide yes thank you for that we are in our passion is to address the issue of all forms of addiction. Families apart, devastating the soul of our nation's old dying every day so we want to come along beside churches to help pastors because what the stats say Robbie is 80%.

According struggling people come to pastors first and they don't always know how to help always ill-equipped to address these issues, addiction and the associated mental and emotional health behind it. So we want to come along beside them and we have a website we have a toolkit step-by-step toolkit for pastors they want to engage in this relevant ministry aggressive 80% come to pastors but 65% 65% of most churches don't have any ministry that will provide support to these issues, and so we also have a curriculum that were excited about it. The 52 week 52 week three plug-and-play program 30 minute video and downloadable worksheets and workbooks that any person in your church pastors are so busy they can do it. The person in the church and especially someone who is a family member of an addict or someone that really believes in the passionate about the call could take it and night in my experience, Robbie. I would say 30% of the people of the individuals that are struggling in their family members would be dissipated. So we have tools like that on our website and I don't want these people, but we just got through recovery. Sunday, September 27 every last Sunday in September.

Annually, we set aside for a day to address this issue recovery, but our main website is MR Mr. healing MR Mr. healing.org and we have resources and step-by-step toolkit for families and pastors if they want to really engage in making a difference in this relevant me again. You know that is just wonderful to know is I know so many churches don't have those resources and so here's a resource for you, for your pastor if if if you're listening you know you know the kingdom pursuits and an see the link there or say that one the the Mr. healing.org Mr. healing healing.org MR recovery healing MR healing.org and some I get back to Berkeley.

We met finish the rest is questioning the minute but I want to ask it. What's the one party or book.

The church is really really excited for somebody that's in this position of suffering that you're really excited for the chapter for them to read no, that would be the heart that I did tell him they may not have family here and I think that it in a way that lets them know they're not alone in their feeling that they've gone through and that they don't have to stay there taking and it is okay to smile again. They can add choose July and ultimately that joy comes from God, and now they won't be strong then now a leaning guy and casting all your cares on him. They can be strong.

Cry right in the middle of that so we got more the joy and suffering, a memory losses and mission recovery, segments they do. Welcome back to pursuits when we hear how context your passion kingdom. Today we have with this pastor Ron Medley with mission recovery and Rosemary Pope in her book joy in suffering a memory of one couples pregnancy losses again.

You can find out all the stuff that kingdom pursuits.com so get back to Rosemary Rosemary my mother story. I think you know what what I learn from it is the grief process is absolutely critical that you've got to go through it and maybe this you can relate to this would happen was because of the way they did back then.

She never really grieved over the loss of that baby which the she never even had a name for the baby which later in life she name the baby Jeremiah because he when they took away his name and gave it to me know that messed with her world even more.

And she didn't prefer that baby, so when she attempted suicide. She had a wonderful somebody like Ron that was working with her that was helping her go back into the pain of what was going on and he took her back to when she actually attempted suicide and she wrapped herself up in a in a fur coat and went in the backseat of a car where she was in the rest area for over a week after taking all this medication and she nearly really died, but fortunately she didn't. She lived to tell the story and the pastor that was taking her through this. Ask her. Marjorie why did you wrap yourself up in that fur coat and all of a sudden it hit her that her grandmother when her grandmother tied was wrapped in a fur coat in the casket is to put them in the living room you know where they people would be in state for a few days and she couldn't bring herself to cry over grandmother and by that pastor taking her into that grief of that why she wrapped herself up in that same coat over her grandmother. She was then able to to grieved Jeremiah and and actually get some healing was there something like that in your own healing. I know going back relationship with.

When we realize you need a man and a woman is a father on the mother, we get very differently because that way were wired and at we understand each other more and a lot at night he would go to bed and I would stay at and I would go in our living room, turn on a lamp is about 10 years ago but on a current PDF different, in fact, and ministered to me during that time and listen to the song. I know read my Bible are a whack on a Bible study and a lot of lot of time that would journal and I just cry a call that under a blanket that would happen night after night and it was in, it would not like that, but I have felt the club to God ever felt like it.

They may not times at him like that curled up wrapped up like that now. That's absolutely beautiful Ron. I'm sure you can relate.

Absolutely transformation people can have a revelation of the father, like no the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and near to those who are crushed in spirit and as a pastor I see this happen every day where I did know the parole officer because were able to give him the transformation of the Lord Jesus Christ wiped the slate clean comfortable lives in us empowers us, and again gives us his word and gives us community to help us to have our back office. Encourage us when we needed to know the Bible says confess your faults one another and be healed since the bear one another's burdens, so that's what were passionate about churches and pastors engaging in helping people deal with the pain because people are in pain, the pandemic is caused even more pain and so it's very vital that we engage the people deal with pain and you know Rosemary I was just thinking how beautiful is it that you've written this book to kinda help people walk through that grieving process and and really comfort others with the comfort that you are comfortable with right second printing chapter 1 direct you to share with their mom better grieving mom they're not alone in an situation that they are either right and fell in a way to work through all that great point point and energy and even more so for the victims of abortion. I have a big heart for any woman who finds herself in a situation that and feels like abortion is their answer for whatever reason, it might be even in my own personal story. My baby I had already dealt with Kilborn and Dane hearing impregnated and I'm told in the middle of the kite and I like presented with the option to terminate the pregnancy and may not.

I'm not gonna lie heavily configured that because I had Artie dealt with in the 9/11 again and just wanted it over with. I wanted a baby that I can raise blouse of the book is joy in suffering a member of the couples pregnancy losses again. Ron ministry.

I like that Mr. healing.org right go there or go to the kingdom pursuits and look up both of them is wonderful stuff that you listen to Truth Network that's much to match it. Encouraging prayer with James Banks really really good episode, followed by masculine journey. I started here about 12 o'clock and then the cuticle loft while the man out over loaded for bear. This is the Truth Network
