Welcome to the Kerwin Baptist Church broadcast today. Our desire is for the word of God spread throughout all me know join is now for a portion of one of our services here at Kerwin Baptist Church located in Kernersville, North Carolina. Genesis chapter 3, and that we are going to do as promised, I want to kind of finish dealing with the giant of temptation. We started this series on facing your Giants a few weeks ago and yet last week we started with the giant of temptation and this giant is just too big to do in one Sunday to be honest with you it's gonna to make the new and just to but we just got other giants that we have to deal with and so want to begin in Genesis chapter 3, where temptation began, we touched here last week and let me say this is it's really good for us to get to know how Satan were you all understand that is really good for us to understand. Be aware of how Satan works and that makes all the difference in the world. Although the interview the NFL football's get ready to start on enjoying watching football not really into it like I used to be, but it just it's a good sleep aid you know that on a Sunday afternoon in the music. Now watch football. For some reason you zone out is like that we would golf with me to and is like that with my dad's preaching to just, you just zone out. I was a cheap shower that was or is big and so it is my hero. But I memory a couple years ago that doing the patriots. There is a big scandal because they were videotaping spying on another team they felt trying to learn their plays in different things and why were they doing that. I don't know the ins and outs of your patriots vandal get offended at me, I'm just saying what they're trying to do is this. If you can find out how the other team works, then it makes it easier for you. I cannot say this, that God did not leave us unchallenged in the Bible. He did not leave. He did not leave us uninformed. God shows us how Satan works for some reason. Over the years. We know how Satan works God's made it clear, and yet we are constantly defeated by his temptation by his power, and yet the Bible says that the power that we have in us. If we men's say greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.

We have victory already in us from temptation and yet we fall constantly and so what we have to know how Satan works so first tonight with the giant this morning to be with the giant of temptation. I want us to notice. First, Satan's plans. Satan's plans look if you would at verse one of Genesis chapter 3 now the serpent that was Satan obviously was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made any set of the woman EA, hath God said he shall not eat of every tree of the garden to look at me, let me forgo any further. He said that Satan, the serpent was more subtle than any beast that had been created can I say cannot say this, I will remind you, Satan is smarter than you are well understand that you so I'm saying don't matter.

Satan is smarter than you. Let me say this, Satan is stronger than you is a will was Satan is stronger and smarter and sneakier and smoother than you and then me. The good news is that he is not stronger than God.

That's the good news.

But if you try to fight against Satan in our own ability. We are in big trouble and often times is exactly what we do.

That's why we keep falling into temptation so often delegate verse two if you will, and the woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said he shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it last ye die and the serpent said under the woman he shall not surely die for God doth know that in the day he thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil, know we talked about this last week with over six and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and ED and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat in the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons and they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden and the Lord God called on to Adam and said in him, where art thou look at verse 13.

The Lord God said to the woman what is this that thou hast done in the woman said the serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. Father, we need your help this morning. Pray that you bless in your name we pray.

Satan's plans know what amazes me is that people say that the Bible isn't relevant if you know the Bible tells you exactly what Satan did, then, and it's telling you exactly what Satan does now. This is as a rebel and now as it ever has been. In fact, it is more relevant now than ever gonna say this that you need to know how Satan works in it makes it very clear below and let me tell you this, Satan's goal. Now everybody look up want to get this when it comes to temptation Satan's goal is to get you to satisfy God-given desires in a way that is not pleasing to God. Satan desires you to fulfill or satisfy God-given desires, but he seeks to have you satisfy and fulfill that in a way that is against God, that's exactly what Satan you see a lot of times you know we have natural things that we are created with natural desires, natural tendencies, and Satan wants us to fulfill that in a way that is against God and his principal now uses three ways does a lot of little things that he does, but they're all in one of three categories and it begins right here with even notice this link if you would at verse six the Bible says and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that is the last of the flesh. Notice secondly and a tree to be desired to make one wise notice verse exhuming the tree was good for food. That's the lust of the flesh that it was pleasant to the eyes.

That's the lust of the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise. That is the third thing which is the pride of life, right there, how he started. This is the first time Satan went to work and tempting as exactly the same way he does it now, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. The tree she was hungry. That's the flesh it look good. That's the eyes, and she thought that this would empower herself. That is the pride of life that is Satan's plans in your life. One of these three things is exactly how Satan will tempt you, he will tempt you to fulfill the flash.

He will tempt you to fulfill your eyes or he will tempt you to fulfill an ego I desired up line something that you think would build your self. That's exactly how Satan tips you know what you notice.

Secondly, really it is just a minute. I want you to notice our saviors promises so Satan has plans. His plans are to get you to fulfill God-given desires in a way that is out of God's parameters and he doesn't in one of three ways through the lust of the flesh through the lust of the eyes or the pride of life. Now, secondly, you gotta turn to first Corinthians chapter 10 of two versus first Corinthians chapter 10 and we want to see here our saviors promises dealing with Tim Tatian so it comes into temptation. Satan has his plans. But secondly, I want you to know that God our Savior has also given promises about temptation. If you would at verse 12 and 13 of first Corinthians chapter 10 wherefore let him think if he stand take heed lest he fall fall into temptation. There have no temptation taken you but such as is common to man.

Now he's a preacher I was in a unique situation. Satan did a job on me and on to someone else. He put me and is it said that unique to me because of the individuals involved. Look at me folks, it all comes down to one of three areas every temptation that you have faced is common to man. Why because it's either lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes or the pride of life, you got that now would give you it verse 13 again. There have no temptation taken you but such as is common to man unnoticed. These promises but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with Tim Tatian. Also make a way to escape, that he may be able to bear it no lies person always prepares for the inevitable heard somebody say this with him about this is good opportunity knocks, wants, but temptation leans on the doorbell temptation is on you constantly.

I got explain is free to get Satan is desiring you to fulfill things in your life that is against God and he will do it, the lust of the flesh left the eyes and the pride of life while he is busy working those areas in your life pushing your buttons knowing exactly where your weaknesses are.

While he is doing that God has also made some promises to you in the middle of this temptation and these are the promises. First he says this that I will be faithful God has promised to be faithful.

That means this you can depend on him.

You are not stuck by your self. When Satan gets on you that people say more. St. just got on me and I just had no choice. Yes, you do. God is faithful and he has promised it and so therefore God will deliver.

Secondly, it says this God has set a limit on the intensity of every temptation. God has promised that he would not attend you above that you are able again. That means this. Whatever you face God would not allow that if it was not possible for you to say no. God says I will never allow Mr. Tim Tatian on you that you are able to bear you say will I fell I just couldn't take it while you're lying, because God wouldn't put it on you if you weren't able to bear it shows that you chose not to. It's just that we chose to give in. It's just that we decided that the enjoyment the brief enjoyment the satisfaction the fulfillment that we thought it would bring. We just thought that meant more than the victory God's given, but God will never put on you more than you can bear. That means this God put a gas tank in a car and it has gas and when you drive by a Krispy Kreme restaurant. There's enough gas to proceed past, God has given away of escape not always do.

I just don't understand the circumstances, I just I just I was too weak. Look at me, you're always too weak. You just didn't depend on God because God promised he would never put on you. He knows how to deliver us out of Tim Tatian if we will just lean on him if we will just follow him. If we will just obey him. We can make it through temptation.

We can go through without falling we go through without giving in. We can face that demon that is always been on our back. You can say goodbye and that doesn't mean he's going to leave it doesn't mean that Satan is not going to keep biting and scratching and clawing every second of every day on your life but you and I have been that every second of every hour of every day. We don't have to give him folks cannot tell you something husband you have to have an affair. You don't have to mess around on the side you get hooked on stuff on the Internet you have to. That's your choice.

God is provided a way of escape, so I just can't take it. Like I said today to get a sledgehammer and smashed the computer that's a way of escape, if that's what it takes whatever it takes, God will give you a way out. Just upped us of the weather or not we take it since the Savior's promise. Thank God he's faithful thank God were not stuck here in this evil world with Tim Tatian flaring everywhere we turn around. Thank God were not stuck here by ourselves without any help. He is faithful, he limits the intensity of what were allowed to be tempted with and he is always promised a way of escape. What got me folks can I say this that God has promised you a way of escape, God has promised. He's knocking to put on you more than you can bear some you say why did God allow please give you everything you need to face it will not even let that happen to me dear friend, instead of asking that say how Fortuna my the God's given me whatever I need to face it, he was led above the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. In verse two and when he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, he was after word and hungered.

That means he was hungry. He hadn't eaten for 40 days and 40 nights verse three and when the tempter came to him, he said, if thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Now what is that that is the last of the flesh. Satan was tempting Jesus because he was weak, tired and hungry. Satan appealed to his flesh. He was tired. He hadn't eaten for 40 days or for 40 nights. So Jesus if there was ever a time to be tempted with food. It was now what insane say command these stones to be made bread I got me what would've been wrong for God to just look at us don't make a piece of bread he had the ability, don't you think y'all believe Jesus could've done it was hungry. What's so wrong about it but exact the way Satan plays with us. He puts things in our mind we so what's really wrong with that will dear friend what's right with it. What was really what was the big deal about that.

I'll tell you what the big deal about it. It's a steppingstone that Satan is trying to use a lot of times we pay wise is not big deal just a little.

This is just a little.

Let's see improvement. Could Jesus have done it but it would've been to prove something to Satan, God's not in that. How did he answer. Well, we were seven Jesus said in him. It is written again, thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God verse eight. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain notices and show with him all the kingdoms on the world, the lust of the eyes and the glory of the and saith unto him, all these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me may mean you're not going to have to die. You're not going to have to get on the cross. I'll give it all to you if you will just worship me first in the Jesus at the and him getting the hint. Satan, for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leave him, and behold, angels came and ministered unto him. This is a little time in the word of God. Now let's look at it number one say preacher had I had I face this temptation well this is what I get what I would call the secret to power. Number one in weakness.

Use the word in weakness.

Use the word. What did the very son of God, do when he was physically weak, physically tired physically hungry and Satan tempted him with something that would fulfill that flesh. It would meet that need. It would satisfy that need. Nothing wrong with eating food, but it was Satan's plan and what did Jesus do, he immediately responded with what the word of God is to me dear friend, there's got to be times that you'll be tempted and you are not physically strong enough to bear in your minds not clean enough to bear it in your life physically enough to bear blending say what you gotta do you gotta respond with the word of God.

You gotta get in the Bible you got a really you gotta study it and you got a claim.

That's why I've always told me what you yachting universe for every major decision in your life universe. Universe did in God's word.

You know why I think it's so good because in order to get a verse you get in the word you know I a lot of us fall because were not in the word you know I a lot of us keep getting taken by the same thing because were not in the word. This word is just an afterthought in our life instead of the major part of our life is really harmful to get me and I know it's hard for me to really heart you take this and you read it and after you read it and read it and read it. Then God begins to show you some things and you study it when you study and you meditate on it then you memorize it and then it gets in here I can't damage him. He might come up and say wow many verses. Can you, I could just, you know, start mentioned in the viewer this or that, but it's amazing.

I'm in a conversation with somebody how many verses I'll bring out, and given the verse and I couldn't just sit here and quote it to you but they just become part of your mind in weakness. So how do you respond to temptation. What you have to do you gotta get the truth. You gotta find out what actually is the truth and once again the only way to do that is through the water. I hope that you are spiritually discerned. Don't listen to everything you hear on Facebook don't listen what you hear people say will this person left as a business person does this, and this person would take something. Don't be dumb seriously, don't.
