Thank you so you every single person listening all across North America. You could be in Hawaii to be in Miami you could be in Maine you could be in Vancouver you could be a terrazzo you can be in Calgary or you could be in San Diego you could be here in Atlanta, Georgia hanging out with me.

I appreciate you that you all so much to super producer and host Dave Shepherd thank you so much to Alex here with us as well help and hope things down if you want to give me a holler here CBS sports radio. It's very simple. The numbers 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124.

CBS can also find me online. I am on twitter Facebook, Instagram, at JR sport brief.

We've had a fun show. So far there's a lot that we have to cover.

We talked about Fernando talkies Junior and his 80 game suspension due to a PED use, or he tested positive. He says there was a proponent in his ringworm, medication that caused them to test positive and so there we have it, ringworm, medication okay fine I we've heard it all, I want to believe him. But what is it matter the same time DeShawn Watson made his first start tonight will be at the preseason for the Cleveland Browns's suspension and how many games he plays or doesn't play is is still up in the air.

We had a great conversation with New York Giants legendary linebacker Jesse Armistead. He was able to come through and join us even gave us his thoughts on the Miami hurricanes like myself, he was not a fan of the turnover chain running around all those gimmicks when you are start to lose and suck.

It's like a waste of time. Let's have a turnover chain even though will lose the game by all and all 15 points short real gimmicky right before the break.

We talked about Lamar Jackson in his contract. Lamar has made it very clear that he is willing to go into the season on his final year of his deal is rookie contract if they don't come to a conclusion on a long-term deal. It's been taking your calls on that 855-2124 CBS and then as we continue what I do want to share with you some comments made by Deion Sanders. We know Deion is always someone ready, willing, and more than able to speak his mind and this time he talked about the Hall of Fame. Deion Sanders pretty much said the Hall of Fame is is letting everybody in right now. He sounded a little offended share that audio with you momentarily. We do have some callers who been waiting patiently to get on the line so let's go to Mike Scola from California your CBS sports radio what's up Mike, what's going on which a weapon very writer. I'm very well go ahead and I did want to talk about. You know how your saying that you ensure Lamar should take that contract now maybe a little less money or actually go through with it, I would and say less money. I said whether or not he's he's playing too much of a dangerous game by not signing anything.

I think he is yeah I honestly feel like a lot of it has to do with not having an agent and I like you said it is mom's family and that not only ecological but but I don't think that this year they're doing something different there at the rate of zero line has improved a lot. They actually have the you know Tookie and wipe out replaced him with your Moses Morgan Moses you there now that that goes pretty good you got right down the other side used one that tackles you not and I'm 2019, when actually you know he Lamar Jackson was good because it was a line because they were at their want the best in other center now and I think that Linda Landa vomiting present yet link that you struggle what you saying know those guys that he played with were solid.

I mean it, and it was solid for years the difference right now you just name Ronnie Stanley.

He was hurt. The last time I checked our release coming off of an injury and it's the same thing. Linda Baum is the guy that they drafted. I remember doing out San Miguel benign covered the draft and then we covered every pick in Las Vegas and I remember vividly when Linda Baum was selected Lamar Jackson was just on social media, you know, tweeting like what are we doing psychomotor cheese in any psychotic amount out here dissing my own guy and even Linda Baum is dealing with an injury and so we can look at the additions to the offense of line. What is it matter as of right now.

If they not healthy at it.

It'll take some time.

I wouldn't I wouldn't be all that confident in them out the gate yeah why did I think you're right on you to come time to than I should be acclimated on that they're not helically woke. There is no hope for it but I mean if they are, they actually stay healthy. The whole year and with Lamar you not probably not going to be running an abduction run while you can kick a dog as I got Edwards are coming back to you know from their injury so there's not really be anyone really got Ellen Mike Davis and Patty and you know that that's directly and I'll tell you about it. I really cannot do much, so he cannot take the bulk of the load with park managers have to you throw it really short the faster run their line how to step up onto silence. Only when you survive. Sounds like the story of his career on the let's be real here Lamar Jackson when it comes down to the ravens. He is the offense, the team is built around him. It is Tyler Huntley backup, the Lamar is a reason you have to change the game plan too much.

Our G3 was out there for little while is is back up why I want to say a similar skill set we can get out and go the whole team is built around this man Dustin is here from Alabama. Your CBS sports ready. Glad I think you need to get out and get paid get out or get paid get out as a like leave the team will damn you got sucked into some type of black hole on Alabama was go to Michigan and talk to Joshua CBS sports radio yeah man, I got a couple of things here.

So I agree though that it Lamar the vanity was last year and grade and I know that a lot injury I but if the gender advantage that was last year. Get out. I don't find this year the Outlook even goes get out is no point in your Michigan. I may not receive my not know but couple murmurs. Bob doesn't work out the lines so the bag and well we've known from the minute that Jared Doss was brought into the lines that he was not going to be a long-term answer unless he just upped his game.

There's a reason why they didn't want him in Los Angeles anymore, and while they shipped him out to the alliance, and unless he has a massive showing he's going to be on out the door so there is no big surprise there. When it comes down to Lamar Jackson. The team stopped yet sure they had to deal with injuries but are a big portion of their season was up-and-down and dramatic comeback victories and a lot of times led by Lamar. It was a tight rope. Now, having said that they really started to hit the skids at the end of the season when he was hurt when he went down when you knew that he was gone is the other element. He's notto just leave. He's not a quotable quote unrestricted free agent. Why because the Baltimore Ravens if they don't come to an agreement that attacked they can tag him for two more years. Two more seasons, 20, 23, 20, 24 that said so far Jackson doesn't come to an agreement with his contract. He just can't just can't walk away and say Gaza leave it was going to do wake up in and pull a Kevin Durant's not the NBA know can't force a power play in the situation, not by any stretch of the imagination, but this is all true. If he had a traditional agent when we have a deal by now.

Maybe when you look at the numbers, I can certainly imagine what he wants on the 46 to 50. I want my entire contract guaranteed where we fall in on that is is pretty much that's that's all debatable. Alex is calling up from Virginia your CBS sports radio. The JR sport ratio what's up Alex and Derek think that my call or you're on the Lamar Jackson I hold out still bigger contract next year because inflation is ideal monster number on his numbers.

For five years. You figure out that almost contract is 45 Miller year. If you look like pennies and halyards.

Well, he's if you want to think about it.

Lamar Tonda has. He has waited and so far it has worked out in his favor. You are correct. If you look at Patrick Mahon's pat.45 and everybody went wall well since then, Patrick Mahon, Scott 45 and then you look at and Aaron Rodgers. He's now getting 50 and column are he's getting 46 and Watson's skin. 46 of the market has been set in the next big guys to get the major cash and this will probably happen next off-season and this is why Lamar is probably not in a rush, but it still makes it dangerous. Just in the Herbert is going to make bank Justin Herbert will probably go past the 50 mill per that Erin Rogers is getting and you can probably say the same thing about Joe Barro. Rosario absolutely it's it's it's really just a matter of well hold on, it's just a matter of how much money does he really want is he gonna you know, you know, squeeze some pennies and say man I need to be 53 or am I okay with 48 that's that's what were talking about here and it's it's just how much money he wants to put in the bank. I think it's more so about the guaranteed cash and less about what you might get per year. What else you got. I really agree with the AAV should be bag to guarantee a big number for M and his friend the last thing I want to say that I called in a couple weeks ago bad joke about basketball jobs. I will apologize you made a joke about who the film you have the best basketball movies of all time coming to badger up about basketball dragons and I want to apologize thank you for taking all that night I called this night a great show with thank you, thank you for: some Virginia patient. Do you remember what he saw, no idea. Okay, as much as I have no clue to talk about.

I note that we talked about movies at some point a few months ago at basketball Jones Seattle and I don't know me well.

He said he sorry got in and get into details with himself is all that matters anyway. Stephen is called from Baltimore subsidy. If you are not CBS sports radio. You wanted. People don't remember when Joe Crocco it on himself and wanted to go to college and got paid the highest quarterback in the league in. The guy wasn't working at the time, but I think Lamar economical rated and that more about what dictated wanted For that the amount of money generate got a new generation of young football fan, particularly in city, you who you know have been attracted to football, but now I wearing a jersey all across the country so you know I now understand the shoddy not get laying another down candidates just you know all the things I felt outside on the dotted line because whatever amount you get paid not yet, not rated though.3 well, I would. I will agree with that. I don't think you see when it comes to the top players in the game any place. How many of them then II guess you have to be a superstar. How many players actually get what they're actually worth. If you think about Lebron James and his strictly basketball contract sure he makes more money away from the court. But if you think about his basketball deal. No matter if it's if it's 40 million or 50 million as a basketball player for its contract. Lebron James is underpaid.

We know Lamar Jackson as a football player specially for where he was drafted at number 32 overall he's been underpaid as well. Are they going to look at it as all men. This next contract is supposed to make up for where I got drafted and what I got when I didn't receive I don't think the ravens are so much worried about old man. We are not going to pay out Lamar, it's just the guarantees, the brown set the precedent, all fully guaranteed view for the Sean Watson, Murray didn't even get his full contract guaranteed 160/230 is guaranteed.

So does that mean for Lamar. Is he going to say I need everything guaranty or she going to settle for I don't know 200 million out of his contract, guaranty. So look at it this way. One day we will all get up and I assume they will be a flash on the screen ravens and Lamar agree to XYZ deal in a gonna be people who look at the ravens is absolutely stupid for giving him the dealer got all the Lamar's going to get hurt in the Lamar's case, people look and say oh that's the deal. He got he got Rob so if and when they do come to any type of contractual agreement, be prepared for the argument on both sides, because I can't remember a football player who, just was doubtless a controversial but a football player who evokes such strong emotions as Lamar Jackson Grayson is calling from South Carolina your CBS sports radio what's up Grayson on excellent what's on your mind, you got payment to eligible status want to know what you thought about going into auction this year and we got throughout not trying transition from Oklahoma we got a couple good in electing thing in town and we had a couple bedwetting transition of meltdowns to think about your new chapter Grayson Grayson.

I'm I'm not gonna sit here a lot. The gamecocks have sucked for so many years.

Right now I mean I have a watch the game when I watch again and again asked what you name the reasons you gave the reasons to be optimistic but what that turnaround looks like I rather just see it happen.

But I don't expect anything. Men know anything at all with them throughout know it's not that I don't expect anything with Spencer Rattler. What I'm telling you is based on their past history.

I don't know what to expect because they stunk they got better last year. What they do. Go 500 just about yeah yeah yeah I think we had a quarterbacking and you're just about really giving Archean before the winter when we have so let's let's let's let's think about this if I have to look at all the teams in the SEC what you asked what you expect and are they now to be better than the dogs. Are they gonna go out there and be better than Alabama. The answers answers no to a nonmember Georgia to be in the East and you know because George really is Kentucky and Tennessee. They really don't have the missile, but he is is is the thing if I have to think about the college football playoff. If I have to think about the SEC and you're asking me about the gamecocks man. I don't have and I don't have an expectation unexpected and they continue to do what they've done what instead of seven games running away nine games. I don't know I'm gonna watch just like everybody else what to tell you that I'm that I have a massive expectation based on past history and Spencer let Rattler come in and yeah it's it's nice, I'm excited to see what they do. But when I look at man up and I'm here in Atlanta. I'm looking at the dogs. I'm looking at the teams that I get ready to go to the playoff and everybody else is a is a nice story and so yeah if Spencer Rattler can go ahead and adjust and pick his game up and everything can arise around him, then good for the gamecocks, look at the big dogs was played on a role for me in Athens is the JR sport. We show here with you on CBS sports radio willing to take a break and will become back.

Speaking of big dogs a Hall of Famer has opened up his mouth and he said what a lot of folks have thought that the Hall of Fame in the NFL Pro football Hall of Fame is being watered down. I might be able to say the same thing about the basketball Hall of Fame. The baseball Hall of Fame. We come back you going to hear from Deion Sanders's the JR sport ratio right here. CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio they matter. Show elegant point I reply they want, for I love you tell me my grandfather every night. I tried calling now with 855-2124 CBS 11 the JR sport refill with the family affair sit at home is that network might as well share with somebody. I appreciate that lesson.

Speaking of sharing things Hall of Fame exclusive the best of the best thing about legends you think about just just individuals who have gone above and beyond what their peers have been able to do what they been able to accomplish.

And so of course Deion Sanders is is no argument there. He is one of the best football players who's ever left is an exclusive company. He is one of the best ever.

Well Deion Sanders happen to be sitting in his office Deion Sanders happen to be recorded at a point in time by well-off media Deion Sanders happen to be just talking about the Hall of Fame.

We know that this past Saturday.

The NFL had its inductions and I wouldn't say it was the most sterling of a group that when in Tony, but sadly the Cliff branch LeRoy Butler Sam Mills Richard Seymour bright young that was the player class with Dick Vermeulen in as a coach but the players who the folks that I just named who's that that Marquis superstar Nate if I have to think about the Hall of Fame class that went in 2021 Alan van Eyck okay fine, but then you got Calvin Johnson you have.

I hit everything that moves. John Lynch that Peyton Manning is a part of that group, Charles Woodson, Steve Atwater, when in true Pearson.

So there was really no gigantic doubt about those names and so without naming any names. This is what Deion Sanders had to say about the Hall of Fame and the people who get let in the Hall of Fame below. You know Hall of Fame ain't all available I love it. I respect and admire all the guys who were inducted deserving. I just started out wrong. Don't belong in no way to go. My old sandwich. All banking and allowed all wall you you you know know good people that changed the game does what all day change of day change is not very good. I had you now go day changes game changers and you don't. Deion isn't the only person to speak up over the past several months. Bruce left no doubt a Hall of Famer Bruce Smith was. He was chiding Tony Bussell. He really on his way into being inducted into the Hall of Fame/okay Tony Bussell. He had a great spurt and are good for five years with the Jacksonville Jaguars and then injury smashed around his career and it's like whoa Bruce Smith is destroying Tony Bussell lien he's getting in and so you have not already in the Hall of Fame starting to really rip apart guys who are about to be inducted and I get it because I do agree with Deion Sanders if I have to look at this Hall of Fame class and some of the names I got in okay we're were adding what longevity to the list are we looking at guys who have phenomenal short-term careers and a Tony but Sally it's it's tough and I feel like oh my God, which is putting guys in to put a man I would agree if I have to look at something like the the basketball Hall of Fame. It's not the NBA Hall of Fame.

It's the basketball Hall of Fame. You got a look at what guys have done and women overseas you take into account their contributions to their country.

You take into account just college and everything that they've done. Think about this Monica Ginobili going into the Hall of Fame, and this is this is this year.

Couple weeks Monica Ginobili Tim Hardaway shot us to swing cash to reach out to swim and I get her on the show will make that happen. If I have to think about recent years Chris bosh Hall of Fame Tony cool coach Hall of Fame man Ben Wallace when Chris Weber this is theirs names that she held say again shop Ralph Sampson yet. Well what what year was that was at last year that he went in one say to three years ago. Yet, this is theirs. Names that get put in where you just go Oscar Schmidt right well you have to you look at the totality of their career as well as where they came from and and and and what they contributed to the game with their country and so we have a lot of international players.

Let's let's look at someone bigger than Oscar Oscar about Yao Ming Yamane did not go into the basketball Hall of Fame because of his. His contributions with the Rockets will be amazing.

He went in because of his overall contributions when it comes down to the relations between basketball in China and what he meant to the game and just globally is George Karl Rick Alleman. I think Hall of Fame head coaches only because a longevity right right ticket, picking up wins for 20+ years. That's it. And so Hall of Fame's they they are open.

And now that we've gotten into the case of the NFL more than 100 years. Now that we're in the case of the NBA, okay 75, 76 years. Just the mark for getting in his it's not the same in all agree with with Deion Sanders the Hall of Fame in a general sense, specifically for football is like damn it's the whole a good and so I can understand being a Hall of Famer being one of the best and now you have peers going in and you just like wait a minute, that guy was good but he wasn't the best night. He is the other end of it don't come across is better don't come across as all my God I was so awesome in a Latin hymn in just be happy that you were that there is no other higher honor, so let the guys who get in.

Let them have their Sean. I don't think it's that damn big of a deal, but I will agree with what Deion Sanders said the Hall of Fame firm for football's a little closer right now to the hall of good in the Hall of Fame if you have to make an argument for someone a hard-core argument that they should be in a probably learn all I could not good enough to take your phone calls.

That's 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS.

Do you agree with what Deion Sanders just said do you think the Pro football Hall of Fame has gone from the Hall of Fame to the whole of good are they just letting anybody in and is he making too big of a deal out of it.

855-2124 CBS your calls. On the other side you were listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio.

I'm a new long time radio personality. Over the years and you're just in lightning coldly now with 855-2124 CBS that's right it's the JR sport resource CBS sports radio right before we went to break. I shared with you audio by Deion Sanders.

Dion casually in his office and he casually sat down with you wholeheartedly set this way, the Pro football Hall of Fame is no longer the Hall of Fame. It's the hall of good. He basically said there letting anybody in and I must say I agree with them.

If I even think about the class that was inducted last Saturday about a week ago Tony, but Sally Cliff branch LeRoy Butler Sam Mills Richard Seymour Brian Young men at those names that they are good solid careers, but they the names, at least in name recognition pale in comparison to the gentleman that went in last year Mike and the name the whole class, but how about Calvin Johnson, John Lynch, Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, big deal, right real big deal. 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS. Do you agree with Deion. Have they lowered the standards to get into the Hall of Fame as it now just the hall of good Lucius, from Baltimore your CBS sports radio nine very well go ahead God do it and offered the game changed a lot over the years. You can't touch it basically cut at quarterback anymore.

They got the same game. It felt totally different game than the way and explain well on the little but that the individuals who have been selected on the needs of guys that that the dudes that I mentioned that were inducted right now are primarily from the, the, the, in the 90s the late 90s into thousands. I came in I don't I don't think they could do well at other yet sure okay this is no no denying that Jay is called from Alabama your CBS sports radio right are you doing for stigma, on what I want to play with it. I do agree Whitby to the point where is the comic all unpaid.

The reason why say that is because the players themselves don't actually listen. All I know I should get a chance to vote come any sound is done about immediate correct and House of Representatives's representatives from every city that that vote in the Hall of Fame is your correct any of the guys they look at numbers not opposed to those that actually feel that they've made and pay to the game, so I think the dancewear is becoming more dangerous that you Gavin Malik anymore numbers in Eli's benignity and pay equity in on the game. I had a real quick question for you.

You create Eli Manning is a is a Hall of Fame quarterback. I say yes because of what he did in the postseason that said okay so you will give Eli Manning Hall of Fame standards also to Super Bowl, but it really just think games you have lately concluded that he never a know looking for critical MVP, but difficulty 102 Super Bowl MVP got me $candidate I do because it's not just it's not just those stills to individual game since his play that got them there. I was always dying, yes it's it's it's really easy to look at just those six games and say hey this is just the playoffs. I look at Eli Manning as someone who upped his game when a matter the most. You can look at him as someone who was a a average quarterback. He was a slightly above average quarterback.

This man never missed a game. He was a consummate professional and everything that he did. People can look at him and say oh this is goofy this little goofy that but there were very few quarterbacks that I've ever seen in the NFL that upped their game the way that he did when the games matter the most. And so it's not just all my God. Here are the six games. But when you look at the totality of his career and what he did and who he beat I believe is Hall of Fame worthy.

I wouldn't be mad if someone says oh my God, I don't think Eliza Hall of Fame.

This is a decent argument to be made, but in my opinion, of his accomplishments and what he did is a rarity.

We have a a lot of times we have conversations about what this guy. He's good in the case of Jimmy garrotte below people tell you Jimmy garrotte below.

He led the team to the Super Bowl and I would say no. We didn't he help them out a lot. He was a key contributor. He didn't throw the game away when he was there. Eli Manning was more of a driver and he was more glued to the New York Giants.

I think the people ever realized in you can see with the Giants have done post, Eli. And it ain't too good to fight overnight you as well Jay, thank you for calling from Alabama to La Scala for Marilyn your CBS sports radio you think the Hall of Fame for pro football is also the whole of good. Yeah okay JR you know I I gotta be honest with demanded anything new. Okay this is been something that's gone on for a very very long time. I did the thing that bothers me to matter to Nama home around one bit. It you know the hall on only already scanned it out don't only one element Hall of Fame which makes no sense to me. Joe Jacoby is one of the greatest all back to back them football okay and another's other guys are and I think Rosecrans the only one okay so having sportswriters or whoever it is, it decide to get Dan it is running never made sense to me. Okay, that just it should be asked players that know the game to play the game okay and just object is just always bothered me that you know what it.Beyoncé said players that change the game going to tell me the hall couldn't change the game. Bill Walsh, no code from the 49ers even said Joe Gibbs was one of the greatest coaches in the work of these started.

It was first want to get the biggest guys in the best you know the big guys for the offense of line and and you know they weren't even the greatest players, but he made him great. You know it was just, you know what I mean at night and they were they went on for a long time playing great and none of them are in a Hall of Fame except Russ Graham well you understand that at the at the same at the same time that Joe Gibbs is in. He been in there for a long time now with this well of course Joe Gibbs then but I mean you know the guys that were actually one and the games and out there you know making it happen should be in there to. I mean Russ Graham wasn't all some you know player but Joe Jacoby interested God should begin to look at how long it took part long to get a what what what what was up with that you know that I and I could name Blakey proximity record.

I couldn't believe it took them so long to get involved. Thank I got the wrong people making the decision who gets in and who doesn't. That okay. My opinion will now send and I will thank you soon appreciate you for calling from from Marilyn Gary Collison Georgia your CBS sports radio. What you say Gary a little bit different take on that agree with what you're saying when Deion Sanders discerning my problem with the Hall of Fame is basically of their loved this course plan for over 50 years. If one is not good enough to get in the first year of eligibility. What makes him better. The six-year seven here a year can't hear.

I guess what I'm trying to sell you if you don't get in on that first year I have a problem of you getting in at all.

Well that's that's gonna different for for every Hall of Fame. It's it's different.

You specifically referring to the Pro football Hall of Fame because in all honesty I don't I don't think guys ever get dropped off love of eligibility. People get nominated this like a vetting process and then from there the sportswriters pretty much say hey you you get in.

I think it's about 80% of the vote. After I think there is is more probably about the baseball Hall of Fame. Even though I know you're talking about football right.

It almost seems to me that the sort of a quota know there may be some years that I guess it could be that no one really qualifies for me so standards by being around talking about game changers of the spirit and I would you not remain a ceremony whether know if you are not will you you you did reference the baseball side, and there have been years where no one has gotten then that's that's that has taken place now on the NFL side I'd venture to say that they are so many players that are eligible so many players, the rosters are so large and it's so it's almost impossible. I'd say to year after year not have anyone going to Canton and so I don't think that's something that will change every every league is different basketball and eight the NBA Hall of Fame's the basketball Hall of Fame. So whether you contributed to the game internationally and some country outside of North America, or whether you just I don't know had great international career.

You go in and baseball you get multiple tries in the NFL media needs to vote you. It would take more your calls.

On the other side is the transport we shall CBS for three Hall of Fame
