I got three more hours to go. I got one hour. The books time just flies when you're having fun. I get started 10 PM Eastern's on 7 PM Pacific got a lot of help today.

Thank you to Alex Schaap James Bocelli hang out here with me and you. What we do.

The first out of the shop while we talked about the rookie quarterbacks and what they did in the first preseason games Kenny Pickett Lalique Willis Desmond Ritter talked about Zach Wilson and his injury. Talk about Trevor Lawrence and as we continue on with the show. We got a lot to do. Kevin Durand is like a guys don't believe everything that you see or read but the nets don't trade me I'm not retiring it out of all the things to respond or answer to.

That's what Durrant wanted to answer. Antonio Brown is telling Jerry Jones to call him hope Jerry Jones doesn't have a phone to do so. Alex Rodriguez is is telling all the young ballplayers out there hey learn from our mistakes. Don't be me in regards to Fernando talkies Junior and that's just the it's just a wild ass world that we live in Italy.

It will get into Yana sabbatical was well. Yana's he was honest he was honest. Yana sabbatical, but was asked by a reporter in Chicago about the bulls and Yana's is like yeah one day maybe at the end of my career plan Chicago will talk about that whether or not it's a big idea, no, no big problem at all will get into it but right before we went to break and we talked about Elyse Young quarterbacks and what they can and can't do. This season, looking at someone like Desmond Ritter help the Falcons when that preseason game over the weekend.

Same thing with Kenny Pickett Lalique Willis yes a lot to improve on. We talked about how they all are trying to get started and then we mentioned Brett Favre. This man a get started. He stuck around for 20 years. Brett Favre has the longest consecutive games streak by anyone who's ever played in the NFL 297 games last week.

Brett Favre would all that wear and tear and all the games played.

He was on Bubba love's pawn shop and we just play this before the break, I want you to hear it again, especially for everybody just joined us this is start again.

Steam Brett Favre was asked about head injuries.

Brett Favre was asked about his own life and I want you to hear what he said Bubba the love sponge Aston hey man, how many concussions have you had in your career. Listen to what he thought he had in and listen to his actual realization lesson if you ask a distributor started during where the respondent separated thought were you not doubt where you black out for. Time to lower your memory loss, dizzy boxer just talked out entrance get his legs rubber right now. How was concussions happen all the time so I can get you had to stir your UCO flashes a line or ringing in your ears will get text that will sting her for five or six so based on that thousands of pages. Every time I had asked her there was raining stars: flashbulbs but also imply and start crying about more than a thousand more than a thousand. What the hell goes through your mind. Can you think about that is a simple definition for concussion. Okay I bump all below a jolt to the head or a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth will dammit if you watch Brett Favre play football and you seen some of the hits that he took in that 297 games, consecutive plate streak or whatever the hell you want to call it, you would know that Brett Favre meant that man's brain was doing a whole lot of ratline. I got the phone lines open for you right now. 855-2124 CBS. That's 855-2124 CBS and this makes me even go a step further. Brett Favre is talking about all of this right now because he's an advocate that no child under the age of 14. Please tackle football a matter fact was that the phone lines them to take more your calls and I want to share more information with you, I was calling from New York, you're the JR sport re-show your CBS sports radio JR thanks for taking my call. Though with the Brett Favre thing. I'm sorry but I got a call be on the amount concussion. Had I I worked in the medical field for seven years now and I know that if you have more than about 20 or 30 concussion throughout your lifetime, you're going to be pretty much the fabled. There's no way you that doubt it will itself let shortage just a little bit. He said, and feels more than a thousand. That's what he says and I I'm saying that it is not possible that me and the man wouldn't be talking or walking or doing anything. He had more than a thousand concussion throughout his life, let alone. Playing career sure well I'm not a doctor, so are you a doctor you worked in the medical field. Which one is paramedic your paramedic okay so help me out here.

If you have a concussion and every time his head hit the term for someone like Ray Lewis knocked the living hell out of what would you call it a just a traumatic brain instance all the other 999 times what would you call it will depend on were talking about here because I need guys on the football field. They hit their head on the graph.

Everything will band okay concussion not is not vote multiple column not much on the split here. See, I'm not trying to be a jackass. Either I think you understand what I'm saying. If the man JR yes what I'm saying is it been possible that you and I'll not ask that I tile tile with you if you don't know the answer, that's fine. I think we've we've gotten past you making that point what I have asked you is for all the times that I've watched Brett Favre get the living hell knocked out of him and this man goes down for the instances where Brett Favre says I am dizzy.

My head is ringing.

I don't what is that, if it's not a concussion. What you call it wide. I mean I'm not into his brain, and I'm okay are you went down this ESO cost are yes that many times sure I meet. It is impossible to know if he actually had a concussion. All okay. I know Kyle, the answer is you don't know and I'm not. I'm not trying to fight with you the answers you don't know that I could I communicate are no but you okay will you yeah you repeating yourself now but thank you counsel: from New York. I mean, will Dan. It's very simple.

If Brett Favre if you say Brett Favre didn't have one of the thousand concussions in its impossible than okay fine I get that then what is it is just having his bell rung is a true is it a traumatic event. What you call it you not answer me by repeating the same thing over and over again. Come on now dammit Clifton is called from Baltimore your CBS sports rate agreement.

Everyone I would like to say that it Brett Clark would been playing in the 50's with John United. Then I can understand him having over thousand concussion because Deacon Johnson and everyone back then you can slam the quarterbacks on a gate but it was more durable.

Back then, but they are today because there was a game when John United broke four fingers came up at that time Inc. and completely began today at quarterback to have a hangnail they going to interview their but I say let's let's I wouldn't say that's fair. Clifton because one thing that the NFL has tried to do and it's not just out of it's not just out of the goodness of their heart. Yes, actually out of necessity. It's actually out of understanding that oh my God, we've had to pay out money because you had to deal with injuries. The financial investment into players so I don't think it's fair just to say oh my God NFL players if they have a hangnail that they're not playing. These are some of the toughest human beings which will meet our right and true piggyback on your statement about football because of the many deaths that occurred back then when he was president, but never that there are you going to hurt or meet at the Baltimore Orioles make the playoffs.

They are going to the ADL yet again and have a wonderful evening young man will think you Clifton. I don't think anyone cares right now.

So, for my friends, multiple chances going up in Portland. Your CBS sports radio. Here are our younger good. I think that you know Brett Favre, you look deadlier, cabbage out there and hear what he had long spiral that it would go right then that the printed. I think a lot of those hips were self-inflicted. As far as him going out that the commander, not back in a way which is what you know it's a lot different now.

We still have a couple quarterback should do that, but not as much. Do you think in the future JR that they might wear those big headed in a balloon looking things that weren't attractive mom know you've seen on this year yeah you think will go over some like that possibly I will. I do know this. And thank you Chancellor: from Portland. The helmets will continue to evolve and change. They were at. There was actually a story that I read last week about the protection at the players where even HBO, HBO hard knocks and chronicling the Detroit Lions talked about the headgear that the players were now wearing especially the guys in the middle of the field to field a lot of that impact your lineman your fullbacks are running backs etc. linebackers defensive lineman tackles they talked about it. Do I think these dudes are going to run around looking like the great good zoo from the Jetsons.

No, probably not, but it wouldn't surprise me and then this is expected. The helmets in the headgear they going to continue to change over the years.

They already have. We can expected to do so.

Do you want it to be bigger and larger to be no stress Scana taken over the game be a distraction, no.

But come on, every year, the NFL is trying to think about how they can maintain the actual game and still be safe.

We don't see kickoffs anymore.

Really, everything is a touch back into the end zone certain plates that have been taken away. No wedges, etc. there trying to make the game safer. You know is is as much talking about with Brett Favre. Self-inflicted yeah yeah he played.

He played most of all, it was all the way to say he was running around wasn't afraid to stand in there and take that hit he wasn't afraid to scramble outside of that pocket make himself susceptible to every edge rusher in the world. Brett Favre played all the damn way and so this is this is the point whether Brett Favre had three concussions as he thought he did years ago completely blacked out or whether out of his own mouth. He had more than a thousand. That's that's splitting hairs here.

The man's brain. I don't care if it's 3000 now care was diagnosing him.

I think we can all agree, the man knows that his brain has been rattled around in his skull and if you think about players who have hadn't in just evidence of brain injuries.

This it's not good. God bless his family, God rest his soul Junior say how plan at linebacker. One of the best ever do it.

Have to pay for it in the long run. Aaron Hernandez showed evidence of it. Dwight Clark, Vincent Jackson, the merriest time is who just passed away is all due to who had issues, memory loss, behavioral changes, difficulty thinking is not fun, and so one of the reasons that Brett Favre talked about this with Bubba the love sponge last week is because Brett Favre is actually an advocate right now there's an organization. The concussion legacy foundation. It's an entire campaign and Brett Favre.

He did a PSA and Brett Favre is trying to encourage everyone right now not to allow children or young man or young women or whatever the case might be, not to play tackle football until their 14 years old.

If you're under 14 then go out there play flag. I mean dammit I put it.

If you follow me on social media.

If you're on Twitter, you can go at JR sport brief and you can see a video that I actually posted this morning. These are two kids they cannot be older than I'd say maybe even eight years old.

They look younger than that there out there and helmets and is like tackling drill for running back in one of these kids blows the other kid that Helena if you're in Instagram you can see it in my story at JR sport brief and I looked at it on my damn and at the end of the video. One of the parents I guess is saying oh he's fine.

He's fine like that kid a fine his ass just got walked I want you to hear this PSA from Brett Favre. Now listen the way this commercial runs. It starts off with a young kid, and then it moves into like a teenager, young man, and at the end you'll hear Brett Favre take a listen to this mom seemed to all at risk to senior high school opened 13 years of tackle football I could Artie had CTE and will continue to destroy my brain even after something. By the time of marriage, reviving depression, struggling to keep my thoughts during nonviolent image for small children. When I marriage will matter to me is not my football career, but that like you I'm a great pair that I can provide for my family's marginal and a you there you have it, that's Brett Favre is PSA trying to encourage every one of the 14 if you go play football flag don't know. Don't get involved in tackle football until your 14 years old because even at a younger age you can go out there and and unless you're taught correctly or even in cases where that's not you get this going to be accidental contact at times, and sure, it's a violent game. We know that if you gonna go play. You know that you understand that you understand the risks but yeah it can be vicious out here can be bad, and the more that we learn about it the more that we learn about brain injuries, brain health, etc. I think it has become tougher for people just to say hey we will play football to go out there and play without thinking about the long term ramifications now is everybody gonna play professionally.

The answer is no. Is everybody going to play in college, the answer is no.

Is everybody gonna play in high school.

The answer is no. But to what degree would you allow your child to play football. Is this a good idea or bad idea. I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad 14 years old. Yeah sure let everybody play flag up until that point. When you turn 14 though I had learned how to play tackle also think it will diminish. Just just typical wear and tear. I'm in favor of it. I got no problem with it. I'm fine with what Brett Favre is saying and in regards to his concussions saying that you know I used to think the concussion means that you just blacked the hell out their grades to concussions. A great one concussion mild mild symptoms that last less than 15 minutes and involved no loss of consciousness, great to moderate symptoms that last longer than 15 minutes. Grade 3 severe this person has lost consciousness, sometimes for a few seconds. You can even go further before I mean in this level, so this phone lines are open at 855-2124 CVS. That's 855-2124 CBS.

Do you agree with Brett Favre. You know, should students and young people should they only play flag football.

Up until 14 should 14 years old be the line where you move from flag to full tackle. I'm cool with.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Let the kids learn the fundamentals along the way. 855-2124 CBS on the take more. Your calls will get into Ghana's will talk more football and cowboys etc. to get your thoughts on Brett Favre we come back here. CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio. JR wants to hear from you.

Colin know 855-2124 CVS 552124227 JR sport ratio here with you on CBS sports radio. Brett Favre says a few years ago. He thought that he only had three concussions in his entire career. He says that he thought of concussion meant that you were knocked out cold. He says after learning more about concussions. He says he's had more than a thousand seeing stars being dizzy just hearing things and bringing in your ears.

He says all of those instances. If yes to add all of those up over the course of his 20 year career he says he's had more than a thousand instances.

He's now an advocate that children don't play tackle football until they are 14 years old. I'm not mad at him. I think there's a lot that you could learn between that point in time that's in our it's violent.

Either way, but their methods their ways. The learn and I would not be mad if this happens to be the case.

A little what we lose in here. I mean really what what is anybody losing one play flag. I got no problem with that. I agree with Favre if they change the rule. Tomorrow I wouldn't lose sleep.

Not at all what about you. Do you agree with Brett Favre. Do you agree with this study and PSA that he's he's helping with 14 being that line where you move from flaccid tackle. I'm cool with it 855-2124 CBS. That's 8552124C.

B.

S. ASF is: from Phoenix your CBS sports radio. Leon I I wouldn't have historically agreed with it. As a young adult 35 kid with a high-speed life and I'm paying the price for kinda grown up without module mentality so you know I I agree hundred percent with the light 14 I just like that.

Somebody advocated or protecting kid and each parent.

Honestly, I don't know if I ever want to let Mike about now reading what I'm reading and experiencing what I'm experiencing with my doctor.

Okay, thank you so much ASF calling from Phoenix and I'm going to go ahead and share this video again one time so people don't necessarily have to just go searching and hunting for I just retweeted a video that I posted this morning and I said I hope you have a better Monday than this skin. You can follow it and see it at JR sport brief. It is one kid getting a handoff or he has the ball with the tackle and zero he blows this other kid the hell out.

They can't be more than I don't even think eight is kid's Eve Brandt due to skin like he was Derek Henry 855-2124 CBS John is calling from Arizona. You're the JR sport ratio by John Baird practiced 30 years of no. I agree hundred percent with far and crediting me to the punch. They are rated and it doesn't matter. You can have a mild concussion. But initially, not in the know you had a concussion that can be a mild whiplash and car or whatever and so I agree hundred percent with them and take the stuff. With her children. Let me ask you this, John just want just verification here you're you're referring to. We had a gentleman who was a paramedical call and he said that there was no way that that Brett Favre could have had a thousand concussions.

Otherwise, Brett Favre would just not exist and so your you are you are saying that is inaccurate will address it directly. Favre said hell are you momentarily concussion mild fair and yes you can. You can have lots of what okay and I'm looking at right now he is said, I've had more than a thousand dizzy memory loss.

He said more than a thousand. Okay Dr. appreciate you Dr. John. The public should take a serious and a particular area. Protect yourself if you do this will equip you can have a concussion and a car accident mild. Lender nature.

If you start to lose energy. The symptoms of mild concussion are very nice not being present goes over and over and over indecisiveness is becoming difficult and the person starts to find out that they're getting more and more agitated and upset. An MRI, not MRI. Most of the time did not show swelling with these types of injuries and MMPI-2 psychiatrist or psychologist take that to indicate if you had a concussion and it's affecting my life will thank you John appreciate you for sharing that information: up from Arizona. I have unfortunately shared with you some of the instances that we've we've just seen from public figures in the NFL superstars who just had brain injuries and has just ended and just catastrophes to us Junior say out to Hernandez it it goes and goes on. Mike is calling from Houston your CBS sports radio very well. Lucky Greg Bacall. The reason I'm calling it a great 1001 would back on now.

I am just to know the five euro magic like football back in the good old days where are you can hit each other helmet.

The harder you get a mark on your helmet the better it was an and you know you could be paying 14, 15 years old and that's not good making scrambled eggs up there and I am thinking about not getting what I last night. I just think that you try a little by little learned learn the gang the right way and never hit, the helmet ever again. That's just not will thank you, Michael Colson, Houston, and let's also be honesty. Brett Favre's brain just because he's a football player's brain ain't any stronger than yours or mine or your next door neighbors a brain and I'm not a doctor, I'm not but I must say this brain is a brain is brain. Okay, it is up there it's it's protected but it can get rattled around and so just because Brett Favre is on TV for 297 consecutive games that I mean that this guy's brain. He took one hit. Now it it's better or got stronger, it's not. It's not me know something or not. My muscles it's not no pain, no gain. It's know you you hit that socket is gonna make it worse. Marcus caller from Knoxville your CBS sports radio while JR I'm doing my best to gather myself because you got me fired up a little. You came home and in night concur often and it may be a radio station in your subject matter called me and that late. Yeah, Brett Favre and every family every person that had had concern in Israel. I did start a company is not a advertisement I from but there's a general in the family market Kim Belinsky, they're not hard to find politico there you have the heaven and MPAA relationship.

You have the mental health awareness week that the hood peacoat college football middle health awareness week. Sadly, my friend and business partner, Michael and Keith on Tyler is the young man that his life. The quarterback to walking. The first morning that may have found out he had PPE amendment to break the meeting virtually with the neurosurgeon to break them up meeting in 2019. He wasn't able to be there because it does offend Ryan was a freshman starting quarterback in South Carolina and they were playing the Florida gators that you hours during that virtual meeting. He looked at like to be a thin documentary that won at the award for humanitarian award for the work they're doing in middle health and gotten all I can say is Israel and the other thing I can tell you the high school college football player somehow or another in our I work in medical outworking find a narrow now.

Somehow or another. A brain injury concussion is a grain injury that the only injury that I'm aware of are the we know a disease or injury but not actually created in most part by secular and that the Natalie yet yet most conductors orthopedic in her pediatrician yet get your ACL and how your brain filling and would not call me baby ugly I promise were not. But the reality is that technology is about the point that we can land rocket on the ground we could all that we can do things that were never done before and that we can bring technology and objective measurement tool in neuro- specular. The episode of care of an injury, never been able for wealth out the how to gather myself itself and I appreciate you for sharing that information and thank you Mark: some from Knoxville. That's a very good point yet. One thing that we have not advanced to repeat this again. It wasn't until 2016 2016 that the NFL decided to implement concussion protocols how the hell do you think that has trickled down to college and I want to say all levels of college football Howdy think that's trickled down into high school football how you think that has trickled down into youth football. If the NFL just did it six years ago what you think every other level of football in the United States of America is is on par dances how no, take more your calls.

Brett Favre says that children should not participate in tackle football until they are 14.

We've heard from doctors we've heard from football players. I want to continue to hear from you. The JR sport re-show CBS sports radio you are listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio, their salary, but I really date your no night in a night out. I agree with the last caller once again from galliard you no good common sense approach Sheldon Cooper have melancholia now with 855-2124 CBS the JR sport re-show here with you on CBS sports radio. We talked about the Kenny pickets will equal… Desmond Ritter's of the world and we talked about Brett Favre says after a lot of evaluation in learning more about head injuries that originally in his career he thought he only had three concussions just completely blacked out.

Knocked out cold. After further evaluation and he says he has had more than 1000 you don't have to be all knocked out cold.

Ringing in your ears. Seeing stars just blurred vision. He said he's experienced all and so now he's an advocate that that young people do not play tackle football until they are 14 products earning 14 go out there and play flag.

I think it's a good idea.

I would be mad like little what we losing it on 11-year-old is not there, just not get a living hell out of somebody and sure there's a lot to learn in the process, but is it worth the risk with a reward. What about people who will actually continue on to play the game, not just at the age of 14.

What about the people who will play professionally and I don't think there's anything lost if you just play flag until 14 to take more your calls as a 552124 CBS we got a lot of people on the line. As you can imagine, try to get on as many people as possible and then we get to the top of the hour, you know will will continue to talk some football. But I do want to update you on some comments made by Yana synthetic and Paul and also Kevin Durand who decided to speak, and by speak, I mean going twitter 855-2124 CBS Daniels: from San Diego.

Go ahead Daniel, I think you JR your particular crime and short I disagree and agree with Brett Favre. First of all he's right. He if anything yet morning thousand yen double the concussions and that guy played 290 250 gain consecutively 297 three 2000 and he had to hit get hit four times a game that's that's you know when you've been hit way beyond what time at the I mean 100,000. But whether it's a thousand or 2000. Yes, we know he's got his ass what the you said you click Dang I'm going to FOB our government play the game at 14 years old. I have to disagree. I think 18 is the proper age lines. They have to make the decision to get hit like that because nobody is good.

We can't take responsibility concussions. When the minor age I just I have disagree with that. Well, like everything else and thank you Daniel for close in San Diego. If you're minor, that's that's that's a parent's choice and the decision so you can move it. The 18 tackle football and in high school, flag football in high school.

I think that's that's a little much.

You know, I know there's a big old business, but I don't know if I go back far I think you're a freshman in high school can really start to learn and understand what they are doing with their bodies, how to control their bodies.

The wrist the room.

I think a 14-year-old can decide that Clayton is going from San Diego your CBS sports radio claim alive. There, I'm here you're here to go ahead. I want to come away because your mentor junior L and I went to high school and college with my grad and credibly given think they were there brothers younger and unfortunately I was able to be a part of her holy. The downfall of the degradation of junior sale attempting if your time, often fell from.

It just made a huge impact on my life because of good friends with her family and I do think it's really important that you will take under consideration on monthly cost of possible likely support. Now, Brett Favre and his initiative to keep the men developing your brand trying to protect yourselves much possible. Thank you Clayton for calling from San Diego. I'm sorry to hear that you were closer to that situation. That's a that's unfortunate and yet when you hear about someone taking their life just and then we learned after the fact. Stevie injuries and trauma. He answers brain hostess historical Brad is here from Colorado Springs. Your CBS sports radio. There really important conversation you're having, you know, kind of like make it simple for people to understand how a concussion happens simply when the girl either bound to bring order to stop so fast that the brain is under the skull and it doesn't take a lot for that to happen that can be a minor, but in the severity so every time you step out on the football field you hit your head on the ground that brain is an announcement of the skull every single time. And that's going to be a minor concussion every time boxers you bumped your head on the cabinet in home you know you don't have to be a professional to get a minor concussion and you know if you think when people don't understand a lot of Less. They really stop just look at it like that. Maybe I've had them here concussions and severe nausea and data head injury.

As you can have and I'm still be entrapment and treatment for 50 years.

When I'm in I'm in doctors this week for concussion care and you know it's just people just don't realize how easy it is to hurt your brain so when you stop to spread your head out of. I assume you're in favor of the know Favre's 14-year-old limit. You know I'm kind of I'm kind of confused about that issue because the only way I'd like to say hey you know a little bit older but really if you wait till a little bit over your currently taken the game out and and I think I can can they want to play. They want to play hard. I did.

I played football before 14 and you know I remember member when I was 12. Another player and I we had helmets so hard that they crack in our helmets got stuck together because the car and I was stuck on those things those days will loan they try to move those days about to be done. Think anybody wants to see that know it's a it's a difficult thing. If you think about what we are all used to one thing that no one is ever really used to until it happens is change. Sometimes things change for the better.

Sometimes a change for the worse but then we try to make decisions that make us better in the long JR sport preshow here with you on CBSSports radiology. The phone lines open for them to talk Yana's will talk the ramp on the other side. Your CBS portrait
