This is the Truth Network man up. Today is our labor day special.

That's right, I'm doing a whole show dedicated to Labor Day. It's Labor Day weekend I could think of no one better to have on the show with me today that a man who knows how to labor himself God is not out of the infamous Robbie Gilmore walk back to the beneficial Robbie there's a lot of mothers out there right now send you guys don't know a thing about labor.

You probably have a Ford but that he gathers different types of labor there you go giving birth would be one form of labor are absolutely my father worked for Buick crimes growing up so he was white collar, and he had very strong opinions as did everybody knew about labor and all the problems that cause and in their it caused me to have a great interest in labor as a young man is to our why is my dad get so upset when anybody mentions labor union and you know it's funny that even my career early on this? I was affected by I got called on thereby Fox and friends of the first questions he said what are you to work with the unions okay so you can see this a bit.

The big question.

Well, there's some social for listers today. Hopefully you find this fascinating is fascinating is Robbie and I the history of Labor Day. How did he become about a wise international holiday.

What why do people get an extra day off from work from laboring in answer we willing to talk about that today you you you already got me going real well. You might my mind my will is turning but so so there is physical labor.

Right there is the labor of giving birth to so there are different types of labor here, by the way, but you mentioned the Christian car guys to for those who are tuning and maybe for the very first time to the man of show and and they're like Christian car guy was that that sounds like an oxymoron. What exactly does that mean that that's your radio show, but Carlos is liquid backdrop on Robbie Gilmore well yeah I was. My father worked for Buick so I spent my entire life for many many years over 40 years in the automobile business and my father had me come up. Actually, through the service department, so I worked a lot of labor guys check in cars doing mechanic work all that stuff so that I would understand that aspect of the carb is how you look how young what would you be when you first started you know I was 11, 12 years old while James Doyle and undercoat and cars and all that kind of thing was had a real work ethic and you were breaking labor laws even but wish I could talk you have to kick out. You did good at and so you have for the first probably 15 years of my career was working in labor and he was parts department service department. Understanding how to fix cars and all those kind of things before I ever came in the sales department finance department began understand that aspect of the business. He wanted me. My father did to understand the labor aspect of it, which believe me, with no service department.

No good car dealership operates. I mean it's a backbone of the thing, as does you manufacture cars you better have labor and Henry Ford or the great car people of the ages that really what turn America around in Detroit. All those places had to do with those guys relationship the labor service ramming services everything right no matter where this carb is anything else to me, will you walk into a restaurant you want good service right and you want to hire good labor get wet is not enough like the mouse I think it's spectacular that one of the reasons that we live in a society that we do this but automobile business and Henry Ford had a goal and his goal was to make an automobile that was cheap enough so that his workers could buy it in less than three months wage while so while the original model T when they came out, I think, in 1907 RA whenever it was the thing was like it if that time would be similar to about $20,000 if used inflation money but by the tech by 19 I think it was 16 or 17. He had worked and worked and worked in the whole reason for the assembly line was so he could get down the price of the car. About that time if I'm not mistaken he had the model T down to somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 $400 $400 so that his workers could afford to buy. That was his whole thing instantly couldn't get it down loan if you know what he did he raise the wages let them make more money so that they could then afford what a marketing strategy goal to get all those cars out on the road. People seeing him.) Morning one and then they could afford them.

You see, there was the there was the magic of the model T was here came a car unheard of the everybody could afford right and because all those people go to format created demand that demand put more people to work in a course in Dearborn, Michigan. Note bears that to this on a map right right that's that's the magic of what happened and it was because Henry's goal was to do something for the labor that was built in the colors while you night it seemed like I remember reading that maybe his biography or something. Robbie and that at one point of the disinterment business called hostile takeovers running a beaver that turn out and my understanding you may know more about this tonight. I think I have the story right. But that that they they were wanted you a hostile takeover of of of Henry Ford's business actually took him to court to try to prove him like it like legally insane laying like institutional insane and add and were asking questions about the French Revolution and all kinds of crazy questions in court and Henry says look. He says that I have six buttons on my desk. If there's something I don't know I just push a button and in through that door, walk somebody who does know I don't need to know anything about the French Revolution. I build cars and hire people rally was smart enough to hire smart people around him who knew what he didn't know is which is what made them so successful in my understanding is with the judge heard his replies like yeah we need to throw this this case on a corporate word. This guy is pretty smart right so have you ever heard the story before had not yet absorbed. Pretty sure is pretty accurate to to the way it all unfolded but anyway so they didn't prove him insane and Ford motor, and became what it is today and United Auto Workers is a real force to reckon with what I knew, Mencius, you mentioned labor it all I want to test our our listeners knowledge out there, maybe even test some your knowledge and with a few fun facts here in a minute but what you meant you mentioned unions in Ankeny talked and you asked me before working on air.

You'd asked me a question, did I know when it was where were a term came from a May we start there.

Annette asked me yeah yeah I had asked the question in a did you know ever heard the term redneck where it came from what we live in North Carolina so I'm guessing that you've heard the term.

Not that I have definitely heard the term redneck but I do not know where it originated it in for me and all of our listeners were that started the idea, you know, as were talking about Labor Day how important labor is to who where we are and how we are is that the American Industrial Revolution led to unfortunately some horrible practices. No child labor that was unbelievable where people were crazy hours to lead to private practices in the minds that were unthinkable of what they the working things that would that minors would have to face.

Often cave-ins and all this kind of stuff and so when the labor unions came about, you know, in the 1850s 70s.

In 1870 A.D. and all at stuff when they started to organize.

They tried to send people into the minds to get these people organize rather the union bosses may not the bosses. The mining bosses would hire these vigilantes or whatever to go take people would literally kill them if they began to organize the minds and so in West Virginia. These guys put on these red bandannas around their necks to show that they were organizing is sort of a secret code when solidarity, solidarity, or as so as they tried to you know get organized. They were rare and wearing these red bandannas and so this West Virginia rednecks you know that was the deal man.

They were organized in order to really save their family save their lives and mean it it it it. You know, I grew up in my household. My father had very little respect for union so II wanted to research that for myself and I end up with a tremendous respect for what the unions were in the 1800s and early 1900s.

Of course what they are today is is something to reckon with. While a in in certainly have, as you said, then helped as I hear what you say should help with with together with the woodchuck like not abusing child labor it and setting kind of standards that can at what age you could officially or should officially begin to worker can work be hired a and work, whether for a union or just employment and in general righted bayonet still and in a ineffectively like liquid steel is a 14 or I was sure would like, you know McDonald's could hire somebody at what age 15, 16 that have a work release. My parents right until there.

I think 70 okay but I'm not exactly sure but yeah there's definitely all those laws in place that does get higher like an eight-year-old work for them shortened and even then they can't work in but so many hours based on all these things that the labor unions really did force back okay but another thing they did force I think has to do what you can ask me what well well you so some kind of a fun fact for those who maybe don't know like is is you know everybody you know. It Labor Day weekend everybody to typically what I should say everybody me. I know I'll be see in today's world.

Nothing ever closes anymore me there was a day when stores would close you know Sunday people suddenly go to church day, you know, pretty much everything are many things are most things will be closed. You know… Of the Sabbath and and not labor on Sunday, although although a biblical principle would be work six days rest one labor six but labor goes way back to when he told Adam hey your you till the garden, you can work in the garden to do all that right.

You can working at the sweat of the brow you know and work the lands but blood from a biblical perspective were technically only supposed to work six days a week rest. Our bodies rest our minds rejuvenate our our spirits year righted by attending church and in fellow shipping with one another. But whatever that looks like it could be a house church could be you know a synagogue you get you a different different types of churches that people can can attend, but all that's sad. So yes elite they they put this in place many many many years ago. In fact up a fun fact people may not realize even though there enjoying the holiday this weekend and some will be off on Monday right, but I is is Pres. William Howard Taft signed the act of creating the US Department of labor in his final hours as president.

March 4, 1913 1913 and ended the decades to follow that the Department of Labor was supported the interest of workers, jobseekers, even retirees.

Be sure to check them out today@wsmcthatnumber1.com because you are number one you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com were were across the country reducing because of this, reducing workplace fatalities, injuries, and assist recovery stolen wages, benefits were put in place so all of those Eulas after thank you you think present Howard William Horta you know that I've never thanked Taft before this is my first opportunity.

Yes, they stated Pres. Alfred said all this in motion so we could have benefits and and in wages and in and all that and then and then there's a few fun facts and when I ask you to because is actually labor to get so that was in 1913, but Labor Day goes back before then you kinda if people are listening. You kind gave it away a little bit but not really cheap. Do you know the exact year Robbie went when when the labor date was first celebrated. I know a little bit about it. I know it's in the 1880s, 82, 1880 to bingo bingo thinking, thinking. Then Robbie was the grand prize will lease the first prize.

I wonder viewer. If you knew that out there listening land that's exactly right.

Yeah, Labor Day 1882 it became a federal holiday though in a different year. I know that year before you did your homework as employees is that it's very similar website well but you did say you studied it to the yeah yeah so so so so Americans first celebrate Labor Day 1882 in and it became a federal holiday in 18 oh I miss read this 1894.

Oh wow, I was well dropped by Jackie to drop by that label and a nearly 20 years before the creation of the Labor Department which we just talked about so so that there you go. So that's that's a one little fun fact, let me throw one more at your limit to another Wenatchee if we put a euro about how about this is a quote here ladies first so you know what women had a role in in in in the labor force is when did you know when they waited they first officially kind getting engaged in the workforce and you know that I don't I don't even I would. I would guess they were probably very much involved in it. In the 1870s as well well so this is interesting is the Labor Department. The first cabinet agency was led by woman that you know that I did not so for the Labor Department was the first cabinet agency led by woman to say that way. The Labor Department first And and her name was Frances Perkins and and six women have held the title since then giving us the record not should not just give women the right lunches for the first, but for the most women secretaries as well in the Labor Department and many of the women who followed in Perkins's footsteps have bully when on the Blaser Own Trl., Elaine Chao, Hilda Solis, with the first Asian American and Hispanic women in the first black woman to be in the in that role of 60 of labor Alexis Herman and and Elizabeth Dole really Elizabeth Dole was the first woman to lead to different departments for two different presidents north.

So what was laboring out the other department list with all leave. She secretaries or so I thought she had a pretty good role transportation. Oh yeah that I should've known that for badly transportation cell was going out the cards are so so women have had an impact – there you go.

Robbie is the man with with a goal is to do is show Christian car guy masculine journey is about 10 different radio shows Robbie as untruth radio network, and you, you'll get a but you get a barrel full laughs from the sky like the silver silk ugly so so women the Robbie prior to the commission, the industrial revolution but it don't quote me on this. I haven't a lot of homework on this but prior to World War II.

Now it was me, mainly men in in in the workforce. Ladies don't get mad at me of him misquoting that but but I do know this because of World War II and all the men going off to war. I know a lot of women had had to needed to jump into the workforce, even if they didn't want to kiss at that time.

Even you look at the old shows father does Baston leave it to beaver and all these old shows of the women for the most part were homemakers raising children in love and on their husbands and taking care of the home which a full-time job in itself like I have two daughters Tony and Kendra, who both are homemakers for home just raising children loving on the husband's real waiver by the way real labor at the end of given birth to nationalize so so yeah been Rosie the riveter. I guess that the whole picture that we have a World War II all these women that really stepped up and had a lot to do with us winning the war. The success of the war, of which my mom was one really mount my will. My mom worked in a munitions factory making ammunition World War II that she really up so she jumped end into the labor force, and eventually my dad, who is said in the 82nd airborne in the military met him on a Greyhound bus trip, go ahead and where does it hurt a girlfriend were going to California for a trip just to an adventure why my glad they did to so yeah so so it was so, so that there is so in a slats of the ladies it got really really engaged in that shifted the whole overtime shift of the whole home atmosphere as well to fast forward to today and now we got it let me in many homes just to make ends meet.

We got about both of the husband-wife both working on right then goes on to see a lot of single homes.

Unfortunately, because a divorce and so moms having Mama maintain single moms working working two or three jobs. Many of us, yes, yes, that many on so this day off is like a huge deal yeah yeah it really is a limit was sister to Melinda logistics to go one more of fun factors while women women didn't always wear pants that you elected Jill for long time to send more pass of the family and us here in Scotland than Lester's Scotland. That's right that I have a kilt.

By the way, I'm not surprised I do. I have I have a kilt today. Research the old family name. Our yes yeah I like there is a whole legacy. There of of Scotland years, I have a long history in Scotland, not just in Russia but okay so the wind so this is this is a very lesser known fact the department that Wynwood females any idea when when females really started wearing pants to work.

I guess it was in the 40s because you and Rosie the riveter.

I think at that. So if you quote fashion forward would be would be the phrase, but typically will or are used not to. It really wasn't tell what where Canada became more appropriate. Send little accepted and appropriate in the 1970s. Are you Syrian 1970s and again think what this is, thanks to a woman named Elizabeth Duncan Coons who is the director of the women's Bureau and advocate for women's right so they are ladies pants be very practical and the rest is history, so to speak. So what other thoughts. My thoughts are that that one of the coolest things that all that did that we are describing. Even labor unions today in Michigan. Make sure the car salesman's gets car salesman and women get off on Sunday. I guess that it that that what you talked about earlier is that we gotta have rest and you know this from all your gym work right if if you work a muscle and you don't rest it right is not can work out too good for that muscle right and it's the same thing with all of labor and and so you know, God set up that whole deal right so that we would be able to do this and when you think about the church itself right in the song of Solomon. There's this spectacular passage in the fourth chapter that goes into the attributes of the bride of Christ and this is Christ describing that bride and he describes in several different ways. In the interim, always right now, but they are in alignment. According to Matthew Henry's with the seven spirits of God and I just want to talk about her neck and since if you ever saw Nikita's neck. The suckering huge back in the days better than the day they had a knack on this dance well when when God describes his church the way he describes her neck is as the Tower of King David. Right very descriptive and it's built in layers. Also as an armory okay and I met armory hang a thousand shields of thousand bucklers of the valiant man okay if you were to take and look Rashi is a famous Jewish commentary said that the word shield, not the word buckler but the word shield. We should have been translated quicker and if you were to look at a picture of the muscles of the neck. It looks like a quiver and so the idea of that quiver as you might remember from Proverbs is all those disciples that go out like little shafts of light out of the neck.

That all have the shield of faith right and and the idea of this neck is the tower that protects the head right at the head of the church, so to speak, but as we do the great commission, which is what I know is in salesman right size looking for the great commission and I got a great commission. I found out that like if you go make disciples what those are. Every single one of them is is is your spiritual child and they are arrows that are being shot down thousands of them from the church and filling up your quiver as well and that awesome yeah you're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com I Nikita cool. Be sure to check out the man up show now available on television broadcast and Vodafone is more radio network. Check out your local listings or better yet, download the truth that were Today. The cuticle affair, and I am excited to hear you do know the big announcement.

Well, maybe.

Think what will Robbie just said just didn't get it hopefully get a visual as you describe that while the labor of church that see if we send out all these other disciples as we talk about the Bible we talk about things like that you're really doing where Creighton always arrows man is a labor force that's unbelievable. A labor force, and Labor Day weekend it and that is that's a great visual as we were almost out of time already but is crazy and what it what a great visual you just gave in and if it back to what you can do some real study of the song of Solomon is our Maya.

It is a team and I often confirm that rascal I did I did at 25 sessions series study of the song of Solomon and what an allegory, and if you never done that out there or maybe leaving me going know really were referred to a book of the Bible because I can assume that everyone knows what the song of Solomon is one of the books of the Bible and know what what what what a love story when an illustration to of God's love for his for his creation and and and Jesus's love for his bride Ray is such a great allegory with so many more fun facts we could bring Ewing and give you clear Labor Day, but I hope you've enjoyed this special session this labor special show labor to show Robbie Gilmore Robbie through quick on I'll get more people find out more about all your shows my stuff is always a Christian car guy.com it's just Christian car and then the word guy. All three together that's all.

So enjoy. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend it and hope you found this somewhat enlightening and/or fine. Our conversation today and are are we grateful were just grateful and in and I want to kinda wrap the show up re-emphasizing that biblical principle of a void of what God, the creator established from day one when you go back to the book of Genesis and you really were six days he labored six days he labored on the seventh day he rested guy encourage you out there don't work seven days a week and don't use the excuse, I have to do meet my go to pay my bills and understand the principle of the of diet ties and offerings along with labor in six days and you'll find the God of the universe will supply all of your needs. If you want to his principles. He will honor you and bless you work six days rest one God bless you. Thanks for tuning in to others Labor Day special today Robbie Gilmore Nikita cool off.
