Choosing the truth. Podcast network. This is the Truth Network is man up while the show with me today.

Joe Civil War and Joseph walking to the man up, show was great to have you here. Is it I'm looking I was been looking forward to this interview for number of reasons. One, because all that you're doing I know you're involved in. From everything from men's men's coaching until you've got your own podcasts and I'm curious to learn more about the broken Catholic to the host of the number one podcast in iTunes for Protestants and Catholics. The broken Catholic, I would hear more about how you came up with that name as well. But don't tell our listeners. Joseph little bit more about about who you are, so they have an understanding who were talking today so I know about a bunch three boys or girls good mother from Greece very authentic like the olive oil and my father Irish and Marine in the Marine Corps served in Vietnam and came back from the war and really wanted to do fatherhood right and do face to write what my opinion is his military training from the Marine Corps and he applied it to parenting and he applied it to teaching space and teaching Catholicism was the faith that shows our home and my dad unfortunately came home from the wall with a lot of anger because there was so much loss of control for him as a man in that very vicious war where he watched his friends being just gone down all around him that the very end of the war. He had a horrible job of flying in on the double healer hello helicopters and sliding down the ropes into enemy fire to retrieve the dog tags from his fallen brothers. I'll bring them home to their families, so that's something to remember their sons by you can imagine the trauma that a man goes through the loss of control and what I've come to learn is as man when we feel loss of control were out of control with our emotions, we can you know just control those external situations and environments in relationships. Well it builds up and asked many causes frustration and the frustration needs an outlet is like a volcano starting to build and burn and it has to come out somewhere and for my father came out in anger and rage and just exploded. You know throughout my childhood with. Whenever we disobeyed him we were just little children being kids right in pushing boundaries and exploring life around us and you know how to process that we did with the firm white knuckle grip as a father.

All that know the Bible talks about that you know fathers, do not be harsh with your children right. They turn away and that's what happens next, my foundation. It was a loving home.

My dad did the best he could. My.my mom did as well, but eventually those burst of anger and control was too much for my mother she wanted a divorce, she thought. Fred and I loving home and into a war zone for two years, a custody battle, so that was my early childhood and my formation. I got to see manhood and anger and lack of control and not really formed my adolescence into adult life. Select the premised of my background and you grew up aware in and where do you live now. Sure, I drove on the Long Island New York meatball is people who do not like the New York to access. Life is much better down there. My friend is easier to set in, and you have family there in Tampa I jail yeah I have my family here at the other house in New York tonight and any children of your own Joseph ideally got it left me after I got through all my own anger and control issues in my life and I bought those locks you know God blew them out for me that's like on Rosses that interface rash we have as men.

God blessed me with the girl of my dreams and I thought I was good to be alone the rest of my life because I had such bad dating relationships for so many years and I was like there's no girl for me and eventually there was that it took me surrendering all those rocks within me and God, and he blessed me with a dream girl we have two beautiful baby is my daughter Laura is two years old.

Carney means the Lord is my light and my son Asher is now seven months old and tribes of Asher from the Old Testament happy and blessed son of God, as those names down on Tripoli blessed right now. My friend may name Sarah have a lot of significance and importance more so than the people realize writer just readily yet were very intentional, with the names we choose for our children.

I believe of the namesake really determines the destiny of that child and would be throughout the entire Bible out of these men and women lived into their names that you talk about your two attorneys know you you you you phrase a rock so you know over to to to the Lord. So look out at what age or when the when did that start hat like when did your seat you grew up in a Catholic Coleman and but at some point you realize and I'm guessing there's there's more to this this life journey. Following God and then just religion. You might say at what point did you become relational for you. You begin to release those things, like the anger and other things you're talking about.

Yeah, great question. It is so like you alluded to, you know, I wanted nothing to do with the God that was trained to me as a child, which was a God to be geared to run away from that was going to condemn me and punish me and judge me on more of a tyrannical God benefit father, a loving father. My father was loving. I got to see those out-of-control anger explosion. So I connected that to my heavenly father and I was like wow I'm not going back to him. I made way too many mistakes. At this point I still I wanted to run for him, like Adam and Eve in the garden right where are you children and then the like were hiding from you as we don't want that experience your wrath.

So my early years, I left out of my family.

I wanted to business and I worship three new God, the God of money, success in pleasure and I got all three. I got the promises of the world and I we did very well. Did seven years. I was age 19, but I I had all that anger still built up in me and it was not until years later that my life fell apart. I partied it all away very prodigal son story in I was in the farmland of Scottsdale, Arizona, loose women, men and blown through all the money I had made and I hit rock bottom, and I lost the money I lost a friend so-called friends girlfriends all left me in. I was alone for the first time in my life and it was when I was face down on you know someone say well then you look up to God right now.

Now I just I just traveled in the dark for the next 10 years, really. But God spent my life. I was on the smartest twice being choked to death strangled to death in God's family, but I didn't thank him because I was so far into the darkness and recognizes light anymore so I was 10 years later.

Of just slowly rebuilding my personal Empire worship Joseph and the unholy Trinity.

Me myself and I was during that time that I started this year quiet whisper pumping within my heart out and spend time with me. I'm spend time I knew it was.

I never heard his voice before and that way but I knew it wasn't at this point I was so frustrated and angry about how I had destroyed my life but I blamed everyone else including God.

I didn't take personal ownership of my own master my own choices and because I was so angry I really just turned and I looked up to God and I said what I think is one of my best friends at all times.

Is that what you want to see him busy right now. I got all these bills to pay all these problems.

Leave me alone is one of my best prayers because it was on right was real. It was rose from the bottom of my heart you know. King David prayed this way right. Once I finished praising God. The next thing any claimant God is real and dodges this is a man after my own heart.

This is what God wants from us is true honesty within us, whether good or polished once you want the honest part of a man so I said that in the prompting continued Nikita and it just wouldn't go away is likely alone. I want to hear from you and it just kept going and God pursues this does me and eventually got so irritating. I said listen if you want me to come spend time with you.

Here's all my bills provide me with enough money to pay all my bills and I'll come spend time with you until then I don't want to hear from you. I was arrogant and obnoxious with my creator as I was an angry boy. I was hurting, and two weeks later God puts you businessmen that were in my life secular businessman and they hired me for some life coaching which I never done before, but they and me to large checks and banning a little bit of savings I was able to pay off all my bills and take offer next eight months I started parting the money away. Go back to my old habits them godly friend I hadn't provided in this time had caught me in between my you know renting big homes in the Hamptons and on the beaches of Florida does not have a gallon out like dung great tea that I remember the conversation you have with God and the deal he made no looks like God took care of his end of the bargain, how you doing with yours and punch me in the throat and this is why we need godly men around countability yeah yeah call us outright on the blind spot in the right there. I know I still had some conscience left no, I was angry – but I canceled the next trip. The next beach house in the showed up at the chapel and my local church and I start there begrudgingly and angry as a God I'm here to give you an hour a day for the next two weeks you want to talk to me let me know. Otherwise understood your board and irritated. And that's how it began.

And that's where I started to experience God in a real way as you said a relational way, not a God that I have read about in response to me but started to rebuild who he was as a father personally started to heal the wounds and the anger within me and Bob on those rocks. I spoke about in those situations became eight months in our day for a month I start a nap chapel and God healed me, and he blasted the roster smithereens.

And that's where he took over my life and I relinquish my control. The rest is history as they say is powerful. I am just following roughly the absolute and the bad part, people I was in I went from 19 years old. The beginning of that story to this part of the story. I was 39 years old and was about a 20 year journey in that in that process. Process of getting to the point. But you know the inner sense it's it's it's good news is one God never gives up on us right and and so he see Scripture says I'll never leave you nor forsake you, ma'am, I'm here for you when when you're ready to come. You know you said the prodigal son story when you try to come back I'll be here waiting with open arms to embrace you and love you too. Two things in your story Joseph. That really resonates that I want to highlight for the listener.

One is the new emphasis on accountability and having friends around us that do ask the tough questions and I like to call them battle buddies you know there in the trenches with us right and they're willing to ask the tough questions. Even if were not willing to receive a methods cut at the time, but nevertheless I'm grateful for those friends like just like you can.

I know you are. So that's one thing you want to highlight to the listeners. All of us need battle buddies all of us need accountability partners around is whether your your your guy listen to the show today with your gal. Listen to the show today ladies get to get if another lady battle buddy guys get it get a demand of men's amend battle battle buddy. The other thing that is I want to highlight in your story that you pointed out, is a and I do a lot. I know you do a lot of coaching. I do a lot of camps. In fact, recently came off one of my wrestling peers.

Lex Luther and I facilitate a chemical man camp and we're like you Joseph, we hear a lot of guy stories and just never seems to amaze me or blow me away. It how many guys you know startup is a great relation with my dad and then we'll once we get in the further into the camp. Find out where maybe I didn't have such great with relation with my dad. But how are you dance here's the sick new year. If your dad out there what you listen to Joseph's story and want to consider that when it comes to your child. Jerry Boykin, David and Jason Benevento brothers were renowned evangelist like something is read Dr. Rick order and yours truly registered today what are you waiting for go to and start events.com I will be sure to check out the man up show now available on television broadcast and Vodafone is more radio network.

Check out your local listings or better yet, download the troop that were Today. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com how you what you model is going to be there impression on who God is.

Just like you heard Joseph describe this is angry kind of tyrant to steal white knuckles. You know five fist pounding dad and that's it was his impression of who is heavenly father's heavenly daddy was just be mindful of that as a parent as a dad.

What kind of impression you're making on your children and and Tracy which I hope you are encouraging them to have their own relationship with Christ. And so I appreciate your story a little Joseph, let me ask you this matching you do a lot of coaching and I was just looking at something in in your your write up that do you have a coaching program like this for Christian husbands who want to go from angry and stressed to peace and purpose without therapy or marriage counseling. Can you expand on expound on that a little bit solely men. Women don't like therapy. We don't like counseling. We don't like to pay someone to tell us were broken. We really know and we deftly don't want someone to point out all the areas of brokenness for us because it makes us feel. Parable. And if I may say I deal with a lot of guys that come to me and the like have been a marriage counseling for 15 years with my wife and to be real then counseling never liked me there very anti-male there very pro-woman. That experience sometimes and that's unfortunate that Pfizer taken in the mail. The man always feels like he's being teamed up again on the bottom line is that therapy and counseling are good when they're done well by people who are experts in the area. However, they create an outlet for us men to talk and complain and vent our problems air are there to speak about our rocks that are weighing us down but rarely do they create the space in the accountability for us to actually get rid of the rock once and for all, almost like a support group of sorts one-on-one support group for us men are to feel validated to feel like victims to keep staying passive in our lives and not actually lean into the discomfort and the pain battle that is necessary for us to get to the promised land that God promises to us so I had to go in and do a battle right anybody but here's the beautiful part is I didn't take on the battle myself when I surrender the rocks to God and God fought the battle for me.

But there was still a battle to fight and they still required my participation. So if you find yourself as a listener and you are in counseling and you're in therapy. I would pose the question how to go is working or not working. How long did not working. Are you ready to do something different you want to stay in the vicious wheel of insanity getting the staying lack of results that you been getting.

When you look at your wife and you watch her growing more and more distant from you. You look at your children and you watch the disconnection gap growing further and further wider and wider and you don't know how to stop it you actually want to do something about it.

Are you just pretending and telling people you do. See, that's the difference. You gotta get to that first step of saying I am this is working.

And yes, I want to do something about it.

Enough is enough and unfortunately most counseling most therapy is not going to get you there, sitting with God and letting him come in at the divine healer right the King of the universe, the one I can see where all the rocks are deep in your soil from all the broken relationships in her mistakes of your life for a Catholic can steal that their human member themselves and we could see so much so when I do in my coaching is I get to the gifting God has given me." We went on like a sniper when it comes to the rocks in your life that you can that are buried deep in your soil because you suppressed them.

You put Preston down because you don't want to deal with them. Five years ago or 10 years ago. But here's the problem brother the rocks grow over time to time doesn't heal all thing that's a lie that submit that's what the enemy wants you to believe. I'll just leave it be put out of sight out of mind. Time will heal your marriage know it doesn't really men better listening right now that have gone through divorce. You know that time made it worse, not better time doesn't heal all things. Forgiveness heals all thing in the entire message of salvation is about forgiveness. We need to reconcile ourselves as humans with our Creator because we wronged him and his people in our life that we wronged him a part in this. People that have hurt us and wronged us forgiveness is the key so we really get in.

We take on that battle and again therapy and counseling will help you get… I just get started on or at least she maybe one or two things but is not to get the deep rocks that only God can see and only got blasted out. That makes sense. It does course, you bring a lot of you know experience to the table. You might say, for someone you interested in and engaging with with what you do through you know to whether Sue you delete coaching or even through your your podcasting. I am by and by experience. Sometime about I know you haven't stated you have multiple failed businesses and lots of broken relationships which are able to take all of those experiences and and and then couple that with the success you're having now and and be able to offer that as I said to to the marketplace and in and help them succeed in in in life, in whatever area of life right now and I know you got see you two different parking at the broken Catholic and then you got your first hundred 100 K.Tellis's breviary just a few minutes left… Briefly about your your podcast shows for Christian business owners and entrepreneurs that are just starting out or they've been struggling to break the hundred thousand dollar mark in their business right out. Sometimes that's new or sometimes you just have blind spots right that need to be pointed out, Lebanon pop entrepreneurs.

We had elected 100,000 last year. As guests we had guessed that the $200 million last year and they bring on the best practices to really get you over that hot, but the main message underlining that show is to be able to impact you know God kingdom with your business and determine business more to a ministry that has eternal impact an internal RLI rather than just a transactional money in the bank is going to teach you how to do that but that is all about you now as I grow deeper in my faith in my journey with God. I like to talk about business less than last, it really doesn't like me up anymore. Where before I used to look for it right now. I live for bringing God's plan document – that the commission he put on my life and my quiet time I spent with them and I suspect it's going to be the calling for the rest of my life. So the way I do that is through my broken Catholic pot. Yes, I do it through the first 100 day. Mostly I do it through blowup bra right my one-on-one coaching and now night out expanded to coaching take on a thousand guys or 10,000 guys and experience those miracles in their life in their marriages and their faith, and also in their finances because here's what happens in the data when a man goes inside and he works on fortifying his inner kingdom and is able to show up more whole and complete with his wife and his marriage, not angry easily show a whole and complete with his children and his parenting.

Guess what happened shows a whole and complete.

In this business and he attracts more revenue, more relationship so all my clients so they come in doing seven figures 8 figures, you know, what we see as we see Return on on their revenue and their income because they handle the inner man for the external. The outer man. That's the secret. The world teaches society teaches. Keep expanding your external kingdom and you will die. Well, you'll die happy. This is intro you just die with the most toys but you die, miserable and alone and you don't hear when we look at the rich guy and they're all dying divorce, miserable and disconnected from their children alone, and I said so. The secret that God wants to give us as as a good father to his son, the same hey you have an inner kingdom.
