Enjoy it. Sure, but most of all, thank you for listening you for choosing The Truth Podcast Network. This is the Truth Network. Once a world champion wrestler, now a champion for Christ. Once the Russian nightmare. Now the devil's worst night in your tagteam partner Noah Kita call this time.

Why would I welcome you back to its time to man up the cuticle off my pleasure to have would be today Brad Kane you like.

How do I know that name Brad Kane well you may know him better.

Perhaps as Lodi part of the ravens flock back in the WCW world championship wrestling days back in the heyday of Monday night wars, Lodi, welcome to the man up, show yet. Thank you so much for having demanded all that you will tell you it's great this day. Have you on the show today in the meant so much to talk about but but let's just let Lizzie's jump in for just a quick moment and give a little back story on outside of the Lodi monster on Brad Keenan in a condo where Brad comes from man to go back. You are a medium gleam you well and yelling let's let's let's just does Starwood print three wrestling days in the guy got you, you groupware words grew up. I grew up in North Carolina and work. That was the closest place on the map. We were out about the country grew up country. In a rural area and want to play football and loved wrestling graduated high school LV Carolina University to get my degree in political science want to go to law school when I ran into a personal trainer after my sophomore year in college that really set me up for the rest of my life in a lot of ways because you feel to me is our work out really invested and that became a competitive bodybuilder and basically follow his lead. He trained me in a got in that direction. And so when I had finished my degree Carolina political client. The day I graduated college in 1993 I opened the trained business and and that's what I did like about school so college graduate and I which is impressive and it in its own way, but backup just for a second. So you see played and played sports in high school and I know you better. I see love wrestling were present amateur wrestling professional wrestling both what I will know you you I can talk about this holiday will directly plan wrestling bad okay. I have been blessed over the way you did growing up in the Carolina mid-Atlantic yeah is you yeah so I was. I truly believe looking back on my life at this point if I have to go back through looking appeared wrestling. Just enamored with this day it it it only goes back to that timeframe. Yeah, and it was you guys you know and then we talked about this before and not been blessed. Think you would share some of the stories but growing up watching you wind up you roads and Magnum PA and or Anderson will spread later. You know the names go on thereby helpful name for mankind. That area, but watch those guys you know what the monthly grade for coffee and it was while we make it to Raleigh or down to Charlotte you there at the Coliseum. It really shaken when doing my life. Later on I had no idea didn't remove you know that the most.

It was a great writer that will be a professional wrestler right, much less hear the things with you and Magnum like we did last week in and in the friendship of the year to you and I will cultivate and have it if it's a really cool thing and so I really still stories them that my dad didn't take my college buddy paper. My wrestling career by making sure I was like, you know that I was greeted Coliseum once a month no kids yeah got a lot of their yeah and in youth.

You told the story that we did. We did this for the listeners weeded up, we will recall, the church brought us into community in Kentucky for road stories with wood Lodi Magnum and or and in the cuticle off, but you told the story, but maybe you just briefly share the story how used to kinda sit. I love only that you like dad, can we knock you closer something outside next month or 80 what happened at that that next month you know it never failed a joke about the day, but my dad would get a ticket. We always fit mid-level Greensboro Coliseum.

So my dad take on that was with the downloads he had to look up the rest of the pipe and look down. We said about ring level and had to give to me. It was a pretty good thing and we were about the same area almost every time and be a high school kid working out a way to try to get stronger and bring to my football buddy to the to the event. It was one thing to see you guys. From a distance, but I want to see what you look like a pause when you drive big from a distance with right (you can get a good perception of that so bad that it would be possible for things that are closing next month. We get in. I'll never forget. I was probably 15 to 16 years old and we had to get on the front row in the Kita UK mounted. We joke about the weight difference of the size whatever you're probably two 9295 right in the best shape of your life and to end up on the rail when you go walking by me and I take like three steps back because it was the first man I've ever met him like my dad really feel fear makes.

I was scared to death that never think one that being that much mojo you work multiple and everything in the demeanor of the character played it perfectly and it scared the 50-year-old boy job well.

I appreciate that I was the I guess imposing intimidating figure right now absolutely absolutely in my wrestling to my school don't think that we had you the 80 and you heard the compared to when you put you in your body, your right beside Bill Goldberg got his body and his look in his demeanor is high yeah you guys with very similar body type you got a lot away. Yes, and in the open field going to my meeting all my friends went would try to explain that for the people something to look at them sideways like you and Bill Goldberg. He seemed Together in their head and you know we talked about 12 wrestling is changed today and everyone understands work for the most part were performing in the other.

But the one thing that I think got you over and got Goldberg over and over and over again 99% of the people that are paying to watch that show. If they meet you, or Bill Goldberg in a dark alley and get the bucket that I get with your hear what your one of quite a number of people that that essentially said boy you know the 10 1112-year-old in me, you, you scared the but jeepers out of medial but fear of God in some people. Maybe I'm thinking the pre-pre-God in my life, but that is crazy.

That's a crazy story know you share that with you like oh my gosh to have that kind of a profound impact on on on her grandson is is amazing. So you graduate from college in 1993, which ironically is is technically the same year that I chose to step away from right you know in ring act active wrestling and retire and you made a decision then to go ahead and get involved at that point not to pursue becoming an attorney or political signs everything else but to become a professional wrestler so give us a short short cliff note version about how that happened. Yeah yeah I would in my gym one day in any kind will run a local independent promotion walk in active. I like to sponsor at a small wrestling show and I could sure, I'd love to do and he asked me a very big guy. I was up at about seven years and even call you off the ground. 262 65 which is a lot away from my little frame to carry manually or pray to God you thought about wrestling you not love going off and I know some guys who do some independent wrestling anything his wrestling trainer got told him need to get in better shape. Maybe we can work out a deal turned out. BTW Anderson along later went on to wrestle it ECW and is overrun but I went and met him and he started crying and he was praying in a barn in Smithville North Carolina which is right outside of Raleigh was about an hour and 1/2 and bring twice a week you'll make in our Trek up there to wrestle for a couple hours in our halfback little Tuesday and Thursday nights and one thing that stands out about that which is a little different today, but the first four times I went came home pretty beaten and battered, agreed that the practice of the fifth time I show up, you questioned me when I walked in the door if it can you become an archer like oh yeah I'm here to learn how to wrestle at the gym and have a rental that will definitely start learn how to wrestle and confuse him with wrestle always been a full-time yeah you got a little bit ago probably been doing not rest beat you up if you could quit because I think you click around me. I want to get you for week so yeah I want to spend loading yeah I did not know any better think that I realized that they paid it all my God, so we we started it will start learn how to wrestle to a degree grace of Pharaoh because we were still really green but you know I didn't independent show. Two months later minute. So here they are. At that time in the mid to late 90s, 95, 96, a lot of the guys of independence shows the Carolinas just didn't have great bodies right there were a lot of older guys a lot of 240,000 specimens in hundred 40 pound bag of rice spandex and look good right and write a little bit about what you know, the promoter can surplus me up the card I was jogging in good shape compared to the guys. Yeah, you know, if a person came along with what were we working in the main event to get them the name from TV that were doing some independence shows whatever and I got one night after the after the shows like you guys are happy at this level, you probably do this for the rest your life you got main event armors or high school. Most shows over go down to Atlanta to their school and try out make some real money and power plant of the year yeah power plant down Atlanta rim at Hamilton, but Lee Parker start Mike winter this up as well. Okay, we my tanking partner and I did up week or two of sprinting and running and trying to get back to annuity pick up a cardio little bit without this three-day tryout will announce the lantern with 27 guys show up for three trial of the three days there were three guys left and I was one of them by be back in I went home, packed my bags and ladder my gym for me and I moved to Atlanta was one want to quit right yet thermal part of the second they came too many things and I can't do this I'm quitting is just too hard and we learn later. Ultimately it was a really tough trial in WCW didn't need more help.

Really, they were liberal. They were full already, but training school and you know you 34 Gottschalk marketplace micro trial is quite a money generator that I was cast out, really, let's have lunch a whole lot what fast for little bed soon. You're the power plant using some doorstop to begin it open for you, but the short, the short story on on how the name lie was fascinated by how the name Lodi came about to give our listeners that the short story on that. If you would yeah there make that quick. I had not started working on TV yet with world championship wrestling out the power plant in the conditions of the weekend and they brought me in to do a couple of and have a job down to Florida for one of the syndicated shows Errol Saturday morning I have become Raven. The wrestlers personal trainer after I met him through a friend. One night, and then within a week or two he'd hard it is personal. So he was actually paying me weekly to take care of some stuff I was on the road right it feels like a dry cleaner that kind of stuff right when he was home I would go over the morning wake him up, cook breakfast for and pay me 300 bucks a week breath on the weekend he was home from there the week like this one night did he have that bad, but I'll try to write that part of the story for yeah that's another show yes and no couple so we probably yeah help with that.

But, and he made a phone call when I Raven had a group of guys on TV and one of them herded next to Richard believe in man I really joined the rope with me and in my mind like yeah will be on the road only WW course and he made a phone call to book at the time and it was a phone call at 1130 12 o'clock on a Thursday night and he asked Terry Taylor who you know, wonderful, wonderful guys, right breaking the flock on Monday Nitro and I'm your greatness out of the conversation the like will only I forgot, I fell in love no clicking hey we got a pay-per-view on Sunday and so we got a flat 30 morning to be at the show on right someday so book your ticket and he goes back when you come up with a gimmick for you.

You don't look like start up that they are no with dark hair me out of the blue, Billy Idol anything don't you go to market Outlook five point lantern is a black leather pants Harley boot get you a glove and changed in the new year and we got dire hair blonde Uchitel gimmick gathered here is my flight look yourself in the slightly 30 morning at 9 o'clock got 30 some hours here maybe bad, right go from a dark-haired guy, Billy Idol character yeah let a little girl that yeah I caught a friend of mine and she got me with her hair person ride my scalp. Could you really can't go from dark dark hair blonde hair and one shot and we pick up all the little five for the black leather pants and the chain guard and we we get to the show and I didn't have a name. Actually for about the first six or seven weeks I was on TV.

They couldn't decide what to call me, they realized my look look too much like Billy Idol right never count called all met in the lawyer look at it that you copyright you got a copy on that name and look. You can't copy more than 60% of your basically hundred percent. Really I do this and we are Terry Taylor and I Raven call me loading I will go backwards. And so that's where Lodi came from. They go I will fell backwards there that that's the story know some people it's funny after all these years you look at what 132 years ago something to look at me in there like that's why your name Lodi. I also click click all connected so I wanted when I heard that story like that's that's a fascinating story.

All the guys that I Idol I look up to.

At that point in wrestling because of Raven that your knowledge all the angles we ran with Raven. We got to get it with pretty much everybody know and then to work with God the flock.

It was a really cool experience to be able to do that.

You know those of the fact that you and the guys were all wonderfully heartbeat errata Booker T. And those guys were out in the meantime I go back to the form of networking.

I just don't want together when you're working your 20 days a month for you write about matches you, come to work for a material becomes a local Billy get enough got out of the work of Saturn go through it like wow I don't have a blur. A social media and ophthalmic auto yeah I did wrestle diamond Dallas page did not. You know, Yeah yes I know exactly what you're talking about now so you still look phenomenal. You really do. You gotta you got a personal training center there in Charlotte, North Carolina, you're still the ring, I know. And sometimes you're 10 times a month. You and you and you can still carry a load because I witnessed out out out in Texas not too long ago, rising you know some of coal off dynasty and so you can you can still go you can still carry your own load and the amazing.

Thank you birthday and that that means a lot that you know for real. You really really candid so I got this personal training studio which is kind interesting to read almost full circle because I heard you say you graduate college, you open a personal training studio start training personal you guys like CW Anderson your Raven and others, and so you're still the personal training and and I know you're phenomenal at that as well. But you also got a wrestling school and I know recently.

Arnie Anderson's kid has gone three high school right you 30. He was assigned with AEW right recently I with AEW yeah and I was so proud Brock Anderson. He came in for 1450 Moncton rarely missed a practice in talking to three times a week. Even dear Covidien, I kept working and so I work ethic with absolutely I beat off the charts. I'm so proud of that.

Get enough. I can't wait for them to make a debut and again I have had a hand in Trey's mother guys who made that farm for me at this point in my life.

Some of those guys and Apple TV get contract is a really cool thing Bodnar and I know I know AA is gotta be proud and am thrilled to you for the opportunity and an immense or semi-quickly brought Charlotte flare trainer.

Yeah, I was her first grade before Shiva went down to Florida for WW. If there so you had, you had the opportunity to train a lot of individuals to whether on the independent circuit or or even out there was some of the more major organizations of that success, which is just a a testament to Juan your work ethic and your ability to not only learn what you learn in perfecting your craft. But then be able to pass at that on to others. Thank you for saying that again and like it was so blessed with some of the guide I was taught by God to pass on their knowledge to me.

You note that you wrote for your nap after WCW down the plant you you get out of the turnbuckle at time and in the time with him for your to happen and take that knowledge and not ever share with somebody if he could pick one of the biggest disasters of my life. Not That old goat uses the wealth of knowledge. We came directly cool talk, but that was my best weekend throughout Kentucky. So yeah yeah because you said you got to me basically sit in his office in five days a week more or less just learning clean from right and he was less thus make no mistake. He was a genius. I feel when it came to the that the knowledge of wrestling. One of the most creative guys I've ever known what it was that the American handyman lose executive role in creating the charts of the way you come up with think the thing yeah it rivaled. I think Raven is really good at that and I really do. But dream was maybe a step above what Raven could go to guy the most creative guys ever be able spend time with learn most to guide and have the impact that old me up in time with some guys who been instrumental helping others right knowledge of the media and not passed at all like it would probably be terrible well before we go. Yes, I saw the video that your church did one time on your transition, your transformation, you know, as a believer in Jesus.

What would you say Lord as a Christ follower know you're part of some rain organizations like Christian wrestling organization there.

Texas what you say to someone out of the Senate doesn't know I have a relationship with Jesus. I grew up in the church. I knew you and that great. Until that I made early age, but when I started wrestling and started making money and in my mind became a big star.

I got a far way from that it could happen. It was the biggest missed some of the biggest mistakes made in my whole life and no matter how much money I made much pain. The wealth I was surrounded by behold my heart. I never felt the field, not good words that there's always something missing in the back of my mind of the nagging thing or whatever, but you know when I slowly started moving back towards the church move backwards you this life we have here is so short it in the big scheme of things and the things we do here in the choices we make here will determine where we spend eternity and were all going to stand in front of her maker.

One day, and in the big fishes were able to make a think on this planet is with follow and serve Jesus or not.

And I think for me I know that it's the best decision I ever made and I made that decision.

The ability to help others and still be alive to help others and help spread the gospel through wrestling something I love you training with Bible verses on the wall to Jim.

I am able with what I do talk about you pretty much all day long. If I want to.

And sometimes you know I probably do it. It's been one of the greatest things ever. If I look back at my hotel conversation with a lady yesterday.

Yeah. And I said, I've had to occupations to jobs as an adult, personal trainer, professional wrestler, I've never felt like at work today. I've been blessed with like Nikita and I was what God gave me the fifth so I'm I'm thankful for that and I will I will rest my life served him well and and you I know you got that kind of a label called team fearless and in course Bible says don't be ashamed of, of the gospel and so you and I appreciate you sharing a little bit about that story as well.

Working to have you back on another segment on another show and it was talk little bit more about that is for those out there listening today at me for some some load his amazing story as a professional wrestler. How I got into that and, most importantly, I think if you paid attention at the end there. What's most important is life now is that personal relationship with Jesus Christ and his ability to now use wrestling as a platform to to share that with the world and not be ashamed of the gospel and so if you've never made that decision make that decision today to say I say to support.
