Meaning what about Jehovah. You know that so I have been friends for many years and I'm just grateful to know him and I grew up playing his music. I literally learned how to play the piano. A lot of it using his music and it is such a treat to have them here.

These award-winning sought singer-songwriter, two-time Grammy award nominee and he has written a host of songs that have served as a soundtrack for the lives of a lot of folks. He also understands the caregiving journey and someone having come on the show today and talk a little bit about some things in his life thinks he's learned through the process and some insights he has for songwriters and music and all kinds of things Archie welcome to the program. All you when you hear those cousin solves that you have done all this and you come back like that. This is it always fresh for you every time you hear you've heard from you wrote that song would you write what a difference you made about 70. I would lighter not only almost 45 years ago and it still being played, its people still know it, and how does it make you feel as a songwriter. I am just so grateful you know people still like come to the radio station playing a man you know when I hear a man not churches in different places that go I'm gonna a real honor that people still live, not I'm so grateful and not very fortunate to have handy things happen became a signature song for both running Millsap and BJ Thomas.

You went on to produce two BJ's records at least two of right now to rot have produced two albums we lost BJ last year and I know that you guys stayed in touch and were close and you are able to talk to. He and his wife is as it got to the end there, and what a great loss of the tremendous voice. I don't think there's ever been or ever will be a voice like BJ Thomases and I know it must've been a real treat to produce those records with 011. My favorite singers in the world. I listen to when I want you know: I remember going to Bell Auditorium in Augustine Georgia living over in Aiken, South Carolina nine and BJ was on the show and it hurt, they were staining alignment pages, just have such an incredible voice and I never dreamed you know that point when I was in high school and it I get to work with you Monday and a recorded medium of songs, specially the gospel. Thank you. And he called me when you start getting fake. You know, and I just wanted to know was going on he was going to get big hospital in Texas where the United treat cancer patient. I it was a great loss for me and many other people that I believe he didn't have any except the Lord, you know, not too long before we got together and I'm glad to know where you remember reading his biography that he talked about his conversion to Christianity and how he had come out of some very difficult things in this life and that that had been surreal Archie for you to be in the studio with him producing that record after seeing them when you are. You know in high school. You were a kid and he was out there doing it and then here you are now going into the studio in your produce the record and that had to of been a surreal moment all I want one. We were first outed my house.

You probably remember Peter. I was a little building you know about my house. It was the old kitchen and not turn it into a studio in a way, Rhawnhurst out there just you know me playing the piano and BJ. You know, listen to the sounds and we would work on them together. There and not it was a great man and we moved to the studio and not in recording that first album it was. It was something in the map played piano on some of the fountain. Sometimes I had somebody sitting back and neck control room and lift and sing the song. It was a surreal moment.

You know I want to mount favorite singers in the world will place some more of your music during our time together here and I got a special treat at the end of our time and I will play Gracie performing a song that you wrote with Debbie Hargis and some years ago and Gracie this song she just made it her own is beautiful so and it has such a great message so that's a real treat. At the end of the program will close with that.

You're no stranger to the caregiving world and you and I don't want to go and all your personal stuff on that but you had to walk through some tough times. You and your wife Kathy and you had to walk through some tough times wondering what are some things that surprised you about this journey you made regarding my mama only on our you hegemony on this. To deal with, which was significant but now you your caring for someone else that is going to see you and and you came out of all the stuff that you had to deal with and then you turn around and in your having to be strong for someone else talk a little bit about that. Yeah, one yellow when I got married on years ago. Leave about 2003 my remember that Archie numbers going around eating anyway. She won the weighted people I've ever known and we will got married in. I had illness. You know what our carotid doctor tell me she was probably the worst case and you know it's just been very progressive in two years ago had to hamper right leg amputated from the knee down and out a blog about this a hard hard thinking about weight, you know we've gotten through it in.

She says, and maybe not. I don't believe I couldn't do what she did but she just did not complain shading complaining drive… Don't have a right leg. I came along.

She had never done that and she cooed around the house paddle and went one for you know not pale in the wheelchair.

You know where in the process of getting you know our power chair far but it is a long process but where will you get well dosing sorry and she can't wear prosthesis understands that that's correct weight. We trotted in ages. It will go work far and the you know one of her daughter said you don't think you be better just to have a scooter you know are our power chair sheet don't get the power chair and one very excited about that Siegel right thing. You know where you can get to the countertop lot 2424. How was this house is changed. You walk into this process with her. She had to watch her struggle with this and you see her great attitude and your sweet spirit but but house is affected you Archie well made me a lot more will be more like her to see how she is taking it well.

I just you know just really trying. You know I have that same kind Outlook if I ever had, you know, bad happen.

I may not happen about a got man over with but just just to watch somebody just take it away mean it just made me admire her so much and you know she's not a person that gripes are complained. You know her state in life right now.

What have been not have an right leg from the knee down and just had a powerful effect on me as your music and process it out musically.

When I wrote a song about her many years ago but it was it was based on, you know, when we got married, you know that and said the rest of it you not spend a lot of time. I can't and I don't write as much as I used to trot around when I do get opportunity to ride on and try to write a real quality tone. You know something that really inspires me and she very inspiring to me.

And there's usually some that whatever I'm right, usually in thinking something about her, you know, will you not noted for shallow lyrics you the things you right in the middle did you write have such a poignancy to them. This is people can hear and what life and other software to play when we come back from the break and so I know that as you watch the seizure observing the thinking process and comes out of Archie's extraordinary and I really do appreciate you just take time share this with talk some more with Archie Jordon's award-winning songwriter, so her for a lifetime. This is where I you know that his favorite songs Jordon BJ Toensing gave me a prayer. This is Petersburg.

Looking back to hope for the caregiver were talking with Archie Jordon who was written so many beautiful songs over his link the careers of songwriters, producer and Archie also. I brag a little bit more to Archie's a really good orchestrator things deferred by the music business it when you want great strings written out the parts for for all your orchestra get Archie because Archie could do streamlines like nobody else so that Bob just tell you what they say. Archie that's what you do great work Archie. I wanted to ask you one thing to talk about on the show with fellow caregivers is that we have. We get so wrapped up into the journey of someone else's story, we lose our identity. We lose ourselves and part of one of the things I do to help me cut every game I owned identity and moan voices I go to the piano to work things out in a play and and that creativity kinda helps come out of me and a lot of folks out here that like to write so they sent me the some of their songs and so forth. And as a professional is somebody who is achieved great success as a songwriter.

What are some thoughts that you would offer to those caregivers out there who don't try to write a Grammy award-winning songwriter something this just authentic to who you are, but if you're struggling with this and you feel like you got some music and you and you want to process these emotions are hazardous to caregivers. The fourth Archie Wooderson thought she would some advice you give. While I would like you are talking about. If you answer my guitar, piano, go to that instrument, and you know just how poor your feelings out and you know a lot of time to you know the first thing you right mind not be the complete song. You know, many times I'll rewrite something you know look at it in you know that in quiet hundred percent, you know, and sometimes accounts very quickly. Sometimes you need to really you know, put some time in and you know that it in okay I have you all through my life greatly from about Hanukkah alone, you know not what I want to study the great songwriters and composers and and you know I'm I think it's good to look back right right grinders. The people that you really admire and and I did that and I was not in any influence the way I have arrived. But you know they're just I studied everybody from Irving Berlin. You know the Beatles and so many more, and not the great songwriter said you wrote right musicals on Broadway on the ground were some of the band that a dam because they wrote such right melody. You know, listen to the people that you like a lot and I know that really help me with you. If you have such beautiful melodies that you've written yourselves. He's the hand on my shoulder love that melody. A love that song and I went to you with us all that I wrote this got to be almost 20 years ago Archie and I was playing it for you in the house because if we had black-eyed peas at night and I got the kids to be for the first time and they could but they were so excited because they herby playing a lot of your stuff, but I am I said I played the song for you and you looked at me said he doesn't feel authentic yet and and it really pushed me to go dig deeper into what I'm trot what I was trying to say with this song and it it it it it it cost me to go back it's okay what what do I need to say what about what about dancing around I'm not going to the heart of this yet still too far away from this great piece of advice. It doesn't sound authentic before we get into this last thought just talk about that for just a few bumps on how to be authentic with you songwriter most important thing and be sincere about it you know it you you know you don't want. You know you heard me talk about you know being influenced by some of the great songwriters, but you don't want trot out a copy what they do. You know they can influence you. Are you but you know want to copy anything in the Lord and he had want you to write and think one thing to do a lot of praying about you know you did, God went would show me what he wanted me to arrive. Only the most important think I could pay this one when all the great knowledge and not you know that depend on most.

From writing Archie. I really do appreciate you taking the time you know what I know you have totally been friends for a long time but let me just publicly say I really did grow up playing your staffing the way you felt when you heard BJ and then you got to work with the rest away. I felt with you and I don't really believe that sincerely a plate.

He's the head of my shoulder not too terribly long ago at church and I just told the story about you and that what the song is meant to me and I played it for a lifetime and I could I can hook some of your your piano playing at midnight I could. I can get those notes exactly the way you guys had about the wreck that makes me feel like it and I will if people want to find out about you. They want to go to Archie Jordon.com that's Archie Jordon.com ARC HIE JOA RDA in.com and you know what if your songs. If Archie songs have meant something to you over your lifetime. I know that he would love for you to send him an email contacting just begging for it.

And there's always a story. Sometimes it it meant something to you during a tough place if if you can look back and hear what a difference you made in my life you know and and think about certain things that your life. I know those things are very meaningful to to songwriters to close with the song called midst of the valley and written by Archie and a lady named Debbie Hargis, Gracie saying this into my knowledge. Archie just told me this to my knowledge, I think Gracie's own was ever sung the song, but it captures so much of her life and are just as much know how much appreciate my pleasure to write Brandon thanks for having me on you.

The know and some of you know the remarkable story of Peter's wife Gracie and recently Peter talk to Gracie about all the wonderful things that emerge from her difficult journey. Take a listen Gracie. When you envision doing a prosthetic limb outreach. Did you ever think the inmates would help you do that many years. When you go to the facility run by core civic and you see the faces of these inmates that are working on prosthetic limbs that you helped collect from all of the country that you put out the plea for and their disassembly sell these legs like what you have your own prosthetic arm in arm when you see all this makes me cry on their faces and I know what it is like a place where you can't get out without somebody else allowing you to get out the hospital. These men are so glad to be doing is one thing said something good did you know before you became in a PT that parts of prosthetic limbs could be recycled and peg leg. I thought it wouldn't legs. I never thought of titanium and carbon legs and flexibly the legs and all that. I never thought about. As you watch these inmates participate in something like this, knowing that there helping other people available providing the means for the supplies to get over there. What is it just on the heart level. I wish I could explain to the world. What I see in here and I wish that I can be able to come Wednesday the this guy right here in East Africa with I never not feel that way out every time you know you always make me believe. I don't want to leave. I feel like I'm at home with them and I feel like that we have a common bond that would never expect that only God could put together.

Now that you've had experience with it what you think of faith's program for core civic offers. I think there is absolutely awesome and I think every person out there for half-day ties. The return rate at the man entering the home. This particular faith-based program and other ones like it, but I know that this one car is amazingly there is me just has something to do with God want to donate use prosthetic limbs, whether from a loved one who passed away or somebody well-groomed you donated some of your own for the data out of the staining with.com/recycle. We
