While in college, I worked for a music star in Nashville who had a long driveway lined with beautiful trees. A tree service was called to trim them, and the results were not what the star expected.

We understand that bringing 35 years of experience, wisdom that is been learned the hard way. Things that I've had ample opportunity to make so many mistakes and yet it is in those mistakes. When we learned when we see when we experience God's provision and I'm offering what Paul says in Corinthians, the same comfort that I depend upon from the God of all comfort, to comfort one another in our afflictions and that is people do that for me and now I'm doing it here on this program and we are so glad that you with us like to start off with a him song and talk about what this text means in this him to assist family caregivers. This is a simple course if you know this.

888-589-8840 and I want to step over here to the caregiver keyboard and this this may be too easy for y'all, but that's okay, it's that the messages point so here you already know this him him him him him him him him him him him you know that you classic. It's very simple, but we need simple as caregivers. Simple helps guide us back to the path we get lost get disoriented.

888-589-8840 if you know that I left you to tell me why it's important to you what what memory you attach with that 888-589-8840 when I was in college years ago in Nashville. I work for a very famous singer and out of their farm and they had just really long driveway in this huge plantation style house on the farm was gorgeous and along the highway out loan the driveway they had all these trees big beautiful trees and this singer contracted with a tree company to come out and do some work on the trees and and trim them up and clean them up a little bit. So this man came out there with the crew it I was asked all this was going on and he came out with his crew and and she was off on tour or doing something whatever but she comes back and he had cut these trees back pretty significantly. It it it looked pretty severe, actually look pretty harsh and she had a meltdown. I mean she really was upset about this and and call the tree and and really kind of lit into a and made him stop.

Another test of and here's this guy, this veteran diagnosis business and he listen to this woman, very famous woman with a lot of money. All this Stuff, and he listen to her berate him about his business and all that stuff and she was emotional, hysterical of all the things that he quietly said you don't understand it, or stay with the sky look like next year and how this is going to affect these trees for their life and they parted ways that I'd I don't know whatever happened there was ever any kind of reconnection but the next year those trees look spectacular. I mean it was stunning. What they look like and it the old man knew what he was doing. He simply knew his business and he knew what he was doing and it just I don't know for whatever reason is that I can still see those trees are cut back so sharply and severely admitted they did look bad. They did look all but you should see him the next spring in the Springs.

After that, the, the transformation was just extraordinary that think about that a lot. When I think about us as caregivers and when we sometimes catch a glimpse of ourselves in the midst of the challenges and I would imagine that many of us feel like those trees that were just cut so severely and we look so pitiful and permanently damaged. Are we able to trust that God knows what he's doing like that tree surgeon like that. I think I've been doing this his whole life. He knew this Eddie and he calmly listen to the fist histrionics of this very famous person. You don't understand this way.

Just wait. I don't know. I never ever found out. Mica said what what she did and how she responded when she saw it at my don't know. I moved on with my life and I never went back and had that conversation again and next time I see her. Maybe I will, but I know this that I saw and I was stunned and I think that as caregivers we we are so locked into what were seeing at the moment it looks so bleak. I talked to a friend yesterday and looking it with with situations with her parents and she's like my life is over and I was able to just just listen quietly respond no it's not any more than any of us as caregivers.

This is our life as we care for someone. It's not necessarily an easy life. It is not something that we we love doing, but it's not a silly bad life you and just like those trees.

It may look bleak the way to spring and it will this help for the caregiver.

This Peter Rosenberg. This is the show for you as a family. 888-5880 888-8589 80 right caregiver here 589-5888 40 part of the show. This is this show is designed specifically to help individuals who are in the midst of the craziness of their life in. They are as caregivers and they are trying to see anything positive that is going on. What is it look like to stay healthy and strong are your caregiver and part of that is a leap of faith on your part as a caregiver to recognize there's more going on than you could possibly realize and that the promises of God are true and faithful and he's not going to abandon you.

Is not going to to leave you hanging in this what he says he will do if you are in Christ. This is what he says and this is what he'll do. If you're not in Christ. This is what he says this is what he'll do. Jeremiah 3017 for I will restore health to you and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord, because they have called you outcast it is. I am, for whom no one cares the stuff about the captivity that was going on but that principle of God.

I will restore healthy humans. I will heal first Peter 510 after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who is called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish go back to that tree surgeon at that Homo's talk about in Nashville of this.

This star and he cut those trees back so severely that the person who art in this star said you're crazy. Look at what you've done and were just crying and everything else we can expect that MCT was a caregiver, or we are you in that place where were just thrashing about it only cost would look what you've done because I was say to you Scripture says anti-and that's with that. This song is all about that. We did today. Donna in Ohio. Donna hey Donna they're your thigh with a little bit of connectivity brought me out of what was going on with that. Donna, do you know the song. No ma'am that was not know that that was not this is some little different is that so Bill Gates or that it was not that will not want that one day when Jesus will come but you know what, that's a good one to sew up and I do appreciate you calling on that would Donna let me go my call screen software is a little bit wonky this morning.

Not sure what's going on with that will see if we can get that fixed but yet that's what this song that Bill Gaither did is such a anthem for where we are as believers to recognize that there is there something going on that we can't see and Steve and Illinois Steve, good morning. Are you feeling what I'm just lovely. Tell me how you doing I'm doing great electronic something beautiful by going something beautiful building glory that he, I think she was in Mr. one was an English teacher, who that was. When I make here what she would like and there's a keyword in that song edit by the way, if you still know the song and you want to tell about the sum of what's important to you what specialty please do so. Can you talk about that throughout the whole show. So even if somebody else forgot select Steve I want talk about this is caregivers because the text of this song is is where I wanted to land all my confusion. He understood that all I had to offer him was brokenness and strife and go back and look at a lot of Gaither songs they wrote words with brokenness, strife, shackles you know and and think, such as that because you recognize the bondage in the disorder that we have and what we what we bring to Christ is basically a mess and so Debbie tell Misty didn't why's it so important. I the Lord out of a remainder depression.

One evening, very late and I was contemplating ending my life and that kind everything for creating this depression little medication. I've had people when the story about the Lord is in a time of desperation I had found in my office late one evening I found out crack that somebody could put that many, many years ago that I say now I don't know why That you don't follow things and plan on a technical boy but That and I place another door in a document grasping for anything I went to the door and there is extra learning. We got practices, got set I believe it that some and Hannah knowledge current direct that prayer and I gave my life to the Lord is the beginning of how long will knowledge but that was currently getting along well. Depression have been for many many years and he made his answer song. Those make something beautiful my life. Indeed, this great story and I think that hopefully will be an encouragement folks who who have deposited the word of God into people's lives in you never know what he's going to use or what he's going to recall to mind was someone in our our job is to be faithful just to share it and have that story that you view Steve because I know that a lot of people right now are indeed didn't listen the show. There struggling with depression there. There are so beaten down that there is no end in their people listen so that if considered taking their life and making very dark choices and and one of things I say about family caregivers is that the isolation were in leads to very dark thoughts, and this is why I at one of the reasons I do the show because this network is able to get into places that maybe others can't. And there are people who are enlisting right now in prison and and and so forth an end.

So we wanted to be able to provide a way that people can hear this great gospel in and in a way they can understand and that isolation in those dark thoughts, so thank you for reminding us of that. Steve and I do appreciate you much the call for you get Linda in Virginia. Good morning Linda how are you feeling okay. I sure about I come down Anything you was talk about all that well that sounds pretty heavy on your mind. I had been. Toward the end of all time and so and that song hit home because he helped God make something beautiful in my life.

It was through him who helped God great game will let me let me rephrase that I got let's let's miss rephrase it.

God redeemed what was taken Wednesday through your husband, let and in your house and Udo submitted himself to the Lord was used mightily. Evidently by God to help redeem and restore things in your life but it was God all along and that even at the Balearic shadow got and found that I didn't believe that they like anything beautiful in my life. Even now I wake married and and had a family because of the alley and God has restored and make something beautiful about the height even at the right now 70 and the lack 12 years dealing with downtime filmmaking is and like those trees that were cut back so severely it looks harsh Alzheimer's as harsh and it looks this way we don't understand it and we certainly don't like and I trusted the way you know I've been beautiful and I joined I join you in that sentiment. I really do. And you know what Linda were negative. We gotta go to break up against a hard time and and can you hang on to the break. Would you think what you hang with us little bit.

The going dispute arose. This is hope for the caregiver. This is the show for you as a family that you know that he can take all that confusion all that work all that makes life better someday. That's a message. Everything went over the caregiver have an American family radio, this is Peter Rosenberger. This is the show for you as a family caregiving understand that he does put this love in our heart is green and we are able to do these things because of the inexhaustible love of God, not because of our own abilities as we fizzle out. You some of us can stand on her head for three months.

But when you start doing this thing for years, decades, you got a run out, you can run and we need to understand that our source comes from God. In this, and I love that song we are talking with Linda in Virginia and Linda, thank you very much for hanging onto the break. Those you just now joining us, Linda to give her husband with Alzheimer's and her husband was such a wonderful person of support and and love and acceptance with her and she did not feel beautiful as she did not feel that she was doing much of anything other than struggling and in dark places and now she's been taking care of him. These 12 years with Alzheimer's and this is a very this is a painful place and that it just is and and I think that I speak for all that are listening is that we we recognize that we see the magnitude of what you you have to look at and deal with, and we hurt with those of us who know what it's like to care for someone who is struggling mightily and were losing them.

It's it is a it is a very painful thing and so I would say that we mourn with those of morning.

We agree with those who grieve in our hope is is not that somehow who they were going to you don't get happy happy happy all the time time time they were going to get our blessing break through and all the stuff is you hear somebody say from from the TV pulpits and so forth. When Lori got a breakthrough in a breakthrough came at the cross that puts all of this in perspective, and that's what gives us the courage to trust and that we can wait. As I said about that tree surgeon told way to separate, and I don't know she had the patience to do it or not I don't know if she what she thought when those things came back and explain, but I know what I saw 100 bothered us all that it was like while this is Linda. I would say to you if a tree surgeon. If a tree got in Nashville, Tennessee gives that concept how much more does our heavenly father when he looks achievement as you go through this what's what's another song that mean something to you as you go through this journey with your husband on Saturday and I heard that treasure you provided couple weeks ago and that that had become one that I and I play when I got p.m., when I'm fit my thin client.

I played that one.

And now I now play that become a good one, but on the old Blessed assurance and the thing God I love the Simpson and I know as I thought about this over and over. You think about live radio shows and so forth. So many of the programs out there, are meant to be so fast-paced and frenetic and in you gotta just hit people with the firehose and I decided something different on this on this program because I know my heart I know my fellow caregivers.

I know me and I don't need the firehose. I need to hear these hymns played in a way that makes sense to me as I watched somebody suffer and so you you are just such a dear 44. Enjoy that and say that that your room and the remembering these things. I do appreciate it very much. These these things mean something.

They were written by people who walk through painful things and it lived thing about live to play about live to write about and so that's why I do it and if you have a request of one that you want me to do. I'll be glad to do it this week today if I can figure it out today. I'll do it today. For if you got something you want me to do for following show Linda all you have to do is ask.

And in fact what I'd like to do if it's all right with you like to put you on hold and have Rick get your information and I'll send you a copy of my CD songs for the caregiver to put a lot of these hymns on it you have it. Okay.

I've already downloaded them well then you're okay Will I would think you I would love to be able to play for you and a bit into nursing homes and played for a lot of folks who dealing with Alzheimer's and their families and so forth. What I'm stunned by every time is that even though somebody is looking out the window listlessly late this just to fake it looks on their face.

They remember the text of these hymns I was I was about my uncle recently passed away. My mother's brother and he was still with dementia and Alzheimer's and a set of video over to the family showed him there and there was somebody with guitar near playing amazing Grace and he barely knew who my mother was history. This is only sister's treasured sister. They were very close and I don't think he really knew she was. But when they're playing amazing Grace. He was singing the lyrics and you know I've had of interviewed Kim Campbell, Glen Campbell's wife in his later years of Alzheimer's to take care of it and they said that music was really about the last thing to go and do something about this. The power of music that kind of embeds itself in our soul. And that's why I play these hymns in the songs because I want people to have this went with it when it gets very brutal with it when the going is so tough that the simplicity of this song something beautiful, something good all my confusion. He understood all I have to offer. It was brokenness and strife is like you admitted you don't. There were times I was a very beautiful during the limitation of the lead. I am when you are the crash test dummy of caregivers.

Like I yell at me and I look at cringe over so much of my journey with this, but even that the cringe moments.

He restores that he was a carpenter he doesn't even wish the sawdust and as a friend once told me our God is the greatest junk collector in the universe and he restores things that we think there's no possible way you can ever be redeemed or ever be restored. Ever be anything beautiful and that is is why do the show to pass on that message that people deposit in my life now in my 35th year. This I see these principles go back in Scripture you realize these promises he made true and he is doing so. Linda, thank you and Ed eating him that you want. You call it all figured out how to fact alerted on air make a few mistakes. That's okay, I'll figured out with you. You call it anytime you want. And okay, I think it yes ma'am I this is Lindsay Arkansas good morning Lindsay how are you feeling all right.

I am not a caregiver at that time my mom had all years ago and I was aligned caregiver because my parents changed Kelly looking in to North Carolina by something you will really really good night may have the time when my mom had Alzheimer's with obviously a difficult time that it is a beautiful time in sunlight because she was aligned to communicate and mom. That's not a believer but I'm not say that I think it's the end she was that she and my dad met in the theater and we had not gone from the king and I love you a bushel and a pack a lot of what we would call every rabbit called her every day I will mom your favorite and getting to know you and the king and I and we would always close that I love you a bushel and a pack and she lifted Georgeanne and she loved Georgia on my mind and had the memorial service plate that might fit her death. That know the Lord and she didn't want any of that stuff memorial, but Sally said that you know my friend that's on the radio up making great I really like that think and laugh. You may not do that. You, but I can really wanted to thank you. I've been listening to your show years. I'm not a caregiver for senior week challenges of my own.

I have a lot of my there caregiver that I've been really really let by your you and the morning I walk up and at first I couldn't put it together now that my thinking and thank you will thank you very much for saying that that that is best that is the legacy of these great hymns in the songs. And this is why we do them because they because you you can't recall also, you find yourself singing it, but then as you sing it as you go to the day, and as you are caring for someone with Alzheimer's is your caring for someone who is struggling is your dressing a wound and and and are you looking somebody was hurting but also you can say all I had to offer him was brokenness, but he made something of my life and Lizzie thank you for your words is very meaningful work. Appreciate your insights on that dispute arose.

This is hopefully caregiver.

This is the show for you as a favorite caregiver like this.

Pete Rosenberger never helped somebody walk for the first time I've had that privilege many times through our organization. Standing with hope when my wife Gracie gave up both of her legs follow this horrible Rick that she had as a teenager and she tried to save them for years and if it just wouldn't work out.

And finally she relinquished them and thought wow this is that I'm not happy legs anymore. What can God do with that and then she had this vision for use in prosthetic limbs as a means of sharing the gospel to put legs on her fellow amputees and that's what we been doing now since 2005 was standing with hope. We work in the West African country of Ghana and you can be a part of that through supplies through supporting team members through supporting the work that we're doing over there, you can designate a limb. There's all kinds of ways that you can be a part of giving the gift that keeps on walking and standing with hope.com would you take a moment ago understanding with hope.com and see how you can give they go walking and leaping and praising God. You could be a part of that it standing with hope.com.

I'm Pete Rosenberger and this is your caregiver minute in the caregiving journey we daily encounter five drama moments.

They can really wear honest, some of those drama moments, maybe from our loved one. Others might be from friends and family. The medical community and sometimes is how drama moments come internally as we mentally slept ourselves around over things we wish we'd done better, or which we not done it all and eliminate all of those moments, but we can reduce that by asking one simple question how important is this just a question we ask, how important is this it gives us and others an opportunity to prioritize and even detach from the circumstances so we can determine is this really a crisis or maybe this is something we can just let go.

How important is it for us to be, caregivers, and we can answer that one right now together.

It's vitally important. This is been your caregiver minute with Peter Rosenberger brought to you by standing with hope there's more information@standingwithhope.com back to hopefully caregiver the speed Rosenberger. This is the show for you as a family caregiver 888589. How many of you all are familiar with acrylic resin and the catalyst that is used to turn this into a hard substance liquid acrylic resin and what does this mean well, you've heard our story and you for Gracie share her journey with prosthetic legs and so forth.

And part of what we do with the work in Ghana that we've done for many many years with amputees as you build prosthetic legs and use acrylic resin to make a socket and it's it you make a mold of the amputated limb of plaster and so forth. Casting material and then you pour the resin over the mold and it allows you to do it. It hardens up with this catalyst and makes a hard shell and that's carved out and that's what the limb fits into this way. Gracie survey. Gracie has the very same thing. We wrap it with a carbon fiber and and make strong sockets that are lightweight and durable for patients and with 1 gallon use depending on the size the patient you can make sometimes 4 to 6 limbs with 1 gallon and we need that right now and if you want to be a part of that go out to standing without extended soaps presenting sponsor of the show and steady with hope.com/giving and and I know it's not a very you hip and cool thing to buy resin but 1 gallon and you can buy you can to help make 4 to 6 lakes know it with with children, we can make more because her smaller but in deficit above the legate course, it takes more but but it's average about so it's it's this extraordinary gift resin who thought but it makes a big difference and they go walking and leaping and praising God, and you can go out to standing with.com/giving.

And you can either support, just click on the prosthetic limb outreach tab or radio show for the were doing here and just whatever's on your heart and mind go and give the gift that keeps on walking and it is it's it's it's a wonderful ministry.

Look at the pictures AC Gracie and what she's done what she's envisioning work shipping over regular supplies were purchasing things and sending it, and the sponsoring limbs.

We can't send teams right now just because a covert is not really good situation, but hopefully that will change. You can be a part of that today Homer and Oklahoma Homer good morning, how are you feeling over you with me but very go hard. It was cut off briefly while you're striking a sympathetic tone.

To me this morning is always your music is always a blessing.

Thank you very much Homer. I do appreciate that and it's you know you have had a conversation over over the many years about the sort things, and why these things are important and it's Saturday morning.

It's the one with the shareware labs and it's kinda quiet for letter caregivers hopefully were, you know, kinda getting used to the date, have a cup of coffee and I thought instead of making my fellow caregivers myself drink from the fire hose would sit around the piano and we strengthen each other to go would face the day and coarser folks. It was this now that you may be in the afternoon or at night on the podcast.

Whatever but is still the same concept. Our lives are frenetic enough as caregivers, we don't need to be bombastic into activity when you catch her breath as well of these hymns over, and I know you do too.

So true. Very much so touching upon the worker trend or penetration improving to bring to mind Amos great profit having Lois Damon Macadamia was strengthened very strong in his skill set. Being able to apply truth through mirrored orchard tended so combined with live music this morning deftly resonates much needed in this time of so much of the problems is in there so much and settlements in this world and I didn't really go into that because you can look it cable news in here 24 hours commentary on that and and I I've been living with harsh reality for very long time. We have a surgery date now scheduled for Gracie for this surgery and it is going to be a very big one is going to take us a while to get all the things together and we have to start on that immediately conversation with the ducts of the surgeon's office this week. A lot of task and when you been doing this as long as Grace and I have the unsettled. This it's a familiar companion on this journey and the only way that Gracie not been able to call our hearts, steel ourselves, strengthen ourselves is to go back to the word of God to go back to these principles that are establish that the that go beyond unsettled. This so what I what I an increase bill and Gloria Gaither captured this the song something beautiful. So when I played this all I had to offer him was brokenness and strife and grace. You have walk through this so many years with this of recognizing that we really just a broken people, but he made something beautiful of our life and he's making it and he will continue to make it and it will it it it is not a wanting done issue. It's it's a constant emerging of his graciousness is glory his redemption, his restoration through this, but it is not easy and we do have to wait just like that singer in Nashville had to wait and we may have histrionics while looking at the carnage and her your life you ever had histrionic this I can get rid histrionics while looking at the carnage homework for lesson imparted with some measure of pain. Well, CS Lewis says that if you have a bottle of yellow if you if you want a good book to read out. I would recommend the problem of pain. CS Lewis, but you know it is that's what he says it pain is God's megaphone sure to get her gets our attention doesn't close a very good reference five familiar with this book, a grief observed.

When we leave you with this.

One of my favorite hymns. Be still my soul the Lord is on my side and this morning while sitting out looking out at the beauty of God's creation. It dawned upon me that before the platooning at 440 God imparted 432, which is which is performed by the Isaac Slade, the musical album grants totaling 432 and there is a residence where God imparts and by what you're sharing about the absolute truth that God is always with us always. Time always comes through pain oftentimes in pain because the emptier the vessel the sweeter the residence. Indeed, all of this into the still muscle this is a great, great text. Be still my soul the Lord is on the side bear patiently the cross of grief or pain leave to thy God, to order and provide in every change he faithful will remain. Be still my soul died best, thy heavenly friend through thorny ways leads to a joyful and and that a powerful message this morning, Homer. Thank you as always you you you bring a timely insight to this and I do appreciate very much that you called okay this is why we do this. I'm not going to make you drink from the fire hose. This program you get enough of that. If you if you flip through the channels on cable news or anything else. I know my fellow caregivers. I know the journey and I know that we are court on a good day and were frantic on a lot of days and so the purpose of the show was just provide a safe place for you to come and just catch breath taken the listen to me play little melody on the keyboard that will hopefully stick with you until the next time we can hang out together because between now and then you and I both are going to have tough moments were going to have dark times were to have dark thoughts, but it's in those moments that we can recall about these things.

Jeremiah citizen limitations.

I remember the wormwood and the gall. He was just really if so, visceral, and he said, but this I recall to mine.

Therefore I have hope. Great is thy faithfulness and each morning. Their new mercies and so my question to you is can you write this down onto what would you write this down. I know you can would you write this down onto a post note or something. I have on my office posted of that I've had for years to put it right there on the door as I walked to the office for me him and it's the lightest ponder a new what the Almighty can do is praise to the Lord, the Almighty ponder a new Almighty can do. Gracie had that beautifully framed with some calligraphy or something like that it hangs on my office wall ponder a new with the Almighty can so when you look at the devastation in your life. Understand that God is not freaked out. He knows what he's doing. He is skilled thinks he is God all by himself and he can and will is making something beautiful you. This is hope for the kick in the hope of the caregiver.com see next. Some of you know with the remarkable story of Peter's wife Gracie and recently Peter talk to Gracie about all the wonderful things that emerge from her difficult journey. Take a listen Gracie. When you envision doing a prosthetic limb outreach.

Did you ever think the inmates would help you do that many years. When you go to the facility run by core civic and you see the faces of these inmates that are working on prosthetic limbs that you helped collect from all of the country that you put out the plea for and their disassembly sell these legs like what you have your own prosthetic and orange everything when you see all this makes me cry because I see this on their faces and I know what it is like someplace where you can't get out without somebody else allowing you to get out meaning the hospital. These men are so glad that they get to be doing is one thing said something good with my did you know before you became a deputy that parts of prosthetic limbs could be recycled and had no idea I thought Peg leg. I thought it wouldn't legs. I never thought of titanium and carbon legs and flexibly the legs and all that. I never thought about.

As you watch these inmates participate in something like this, knowing that there there helping other people all providing the means for the supplies to get over there.

What is it just on the heart level. I wish I could explain to the world. What I see in here and I wish that I can be able to come and say the this guy right here in East Africa with that. I never not feel that way out every time you know you always make me have to leave. I don't want to leave.

II feel like I'm at home with them and I feel like we have a common bond that would never expected that only God could put together. Now that you've had experience with it what you think of faith-based programs or core civic offers.

I think there is absolutely awesome and I think every person out there that have faith-based programs because he return right at the men that are involved in this particular faith-based program and other ones like it and I know that this one car is amazingly low, great care has and I think that that is me just has something to do with God help. If you want to donate use prosthetic limbs, whether from a loved one who passed away or you somebody well-groomed you donated some of your own for the data out of the please go to staining with out.com/recycle gain.

We
