Hiring individuals to help with an impaired loved one is not only an important decision, but a difficult one. We discussed this with the caller and pointed him to resources that I think serve as the Gold-standard of what to look for.

Hearing self theory, good morning.

How are you feeling going pretty good on him. New caregiver +20 years now.

My wife was diagnosed with farmers on early onset where both the pretty young mid-sixties is getting younger every day. By the way. It was quite a shock but things have progressed rather quickly over the last two months from flaw a major episode occurred last fall, but my what I'm looking for resource are on part of the Alzheimer's Association might attend support groups. What I'm looking for is how to find like a caregiver that would possibly want to live in the home of but you just don't want anybody don't want familiars can be a flock. What a good friend. We live a very good flight home buried in 25 acres of forest nobody received. You could have resources and have contacts with people that I will know what this does too big of a net to be able to pull from. So would be able to aggregate all that information, I would, but we were whereabouts and succulent I'm from San Francisco where you will will process to a limited the upstate area around the Greenville area. I was born and raised in Anderson in my folks but folks to live.

There is a great area of the country. I tell you what I would recommend starting with this is finding a good surface first because they're responsible for weeding out folks that you know you want to get the right person and if you get if you have the wrong person. The company, your home and then you gotta get them out of your home, it would to me would make more sense to find a service that already does all your background checks all that kind of stuff so you don't have to and start with that before you start bring someone into your home because extricating them from your home may be a bit of a challenge.

If that's the wrong match and so I think you'd start with that and then maybe even work with a service is a separate service to do some background check on somebody and give yourself time to find that right person you it's gonna take some time to find somebody you would want to bring into your home to live there.

You really need to filter that person out strongly because you know they got a promise you the moon with a the first show up for the first couple weeks will be great that after a while you realize when I'm stuck with this then you got it to get a victim and that can become sticky wicket and you don't need that nightmare I would. I would highly recommend finding a reputable service of home care service does this, and then that's their responsibility to weed those people out. You don't have to deal with that kind of drama may cost a little bit more but you know what is the deal saying that if you do you think is how expensive her in a professional try hiring an amateur in it. It just you just don't want that drama you don't know who you can bring into your home. That way, and it would be better if you had a third-party service that can make sure that they've had proper background checks and drug screenings.

They fitted them that they're responsible for moving them out if they show if they call in sick and they live in your home, then what he did you know so those are those things that gives you used some services but that my wife will absolutely love this life caregiver that we have and she was with us for two weeks and on a car accident two nights ago hospitalized and may not be back for another three months.

We just don't know. For now were back to square one and this person to live with you know I I'm just trying to figure out what are my options are caregiver that will in all that I can bring somebody a friend to my wife. I'm just trying to find the right path from well I think the fact that what you been through with this most recent one with the correct address.

My point home because of that person had lived with you, then you would have somebody who is recuperating from a car wreck living at your home and you still need a character you trip you track it with me so that that's the kind of thing you want to avoid if at all possible in hiring a service like this it may stretch a little bit financially, but imagine that how you be stretch right now if you had somebody recuperating.

However much you liked him. If they recuperating, recuperating at your home and that you have a wife with Alzheimer's and somebody's recuperating for three months were correct. You don't need that drama in your life. You just don't and so service working with the service who can that's their job is to find the qualified workers and to make sure the new meet with them regularly do you get into a good rhythm to make sure that this is a good match because here's the deal.

We this that you and I both know this. This is this is not going to get easier for okay well your assembling your team right now for what's coming and you got X amount of time to prepare for that to get your home to get you set up your your team around you because right now your your your functioning you're doing okay, but this is only going to get more challenging and the sooner you have a solid team around you. The better that you would be able to navigate those choppy waters when you get to because there's some rough rapids coming your way. Get that team together and having ate up some professionals in their as opposed to you. Try to somehow figure this out yourself and make your life a lot easier now-sure I clear the wisdom amounted when you know where you were. Wisdom comes from you no good judgment. Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment and you were talking to a guy who's made a lot of bad judgment calls and I've got out there and try to find some he brought something people into my home to help with my wife of the years and then that was just yields I had some successes and I had some dismal failures and in ultimately when I went to a service that came in and I worked with them. I found the value of this and there's a there's a wonderful service and in and Nashville that I that I great friends with and they have resources on their website and there not to be able to serve people in your area, but that they got resource they put out there on their website of just stuff you can read and you know educate yourself on that's caregivers by home care caregivers by whole care in Nashville, Tennessee. Yet they're not there not in your area. It's a local company, but I was so would that the lady that owns that runs it is a nurse and I have been friends with them for very long time and they have a wealth of information that you can just educate yourself with and what you're looking for help you drill this thing down so that you find that right partner in try not to contract with anyone else in your area that doesn't bring the level of what they do it this company. I just sent you to just look and see what they offer and try to find something that similar to that in your area because I think their gold standard for my whole care W jelly WH OLE and they are in Nashville Tennessee so when we lived Nashville out of inference of those folks for long time and and they helped me through some very difficult times. I think that but I watch how they set up the structure there not a fly-by-night there's a lot of companies out there that are need of throwing business models together pretty quick for this big need and you don't want that you really want to have people that guess that have some seasoning to them.

Thought through these things and they've looked at all the contingencies that you have and they've looked at all the things you have not done so and this applies across the board nudged him with Alzheimer's and especially to children. Whatever is across the board, but but you know yet financially may stretch a bit, but in the long run it's a better investment in you and in and your wife is well so only how God helps.

Sure not have helped considerably very good LTC Paul Saul not will take us many years that that is indeed a great blessing to have so use that wisely use it very wisely. Do your due diligence, seek out people that are doing this and have been doing for a while. What are they doing right. How does that work for your family and really try to avoid bringing someone into your home until you have vetted them like they were auditioning coming. You know they were applied to be on the national Security Council to think okay that fit that that's that's the xcopy and that the parties you're doing this now and not doing it a place of desperation. This is helpful to the show today of that of the movie started off because if you start if you say I went to this gets out of my control. Well, then you're scrambling don't scramble plan, you know an instant start strict strategically thinking ahead. That's how you do it.

If you wait to the last moment in your freaking out your level to get somebody there and Linda Linda been a disaster for how I know this well loved and so take my advice about using it now. I've done this and and and so it's it's super important that you spend the time on the front and vetting this this person out whoever or people out there may be more than one because if somebody gets sick calls in sick. Your wife's Alzheimer's document. Take a sick day so you got have you got have backups for your backups. When this thing starts getting in the in the some steam hundred so appreciate the call out that it does attract Terry does it go on microphone were early on the you know I tried to find the right you are quite welcome and I appreciate very much the call appreciate you listen is always good to talk South Carolina this is Peter Rosenberger. This is hopefully caregiver are glad that you 888-589-8048 inning filing that
