Who secures the firearms of the vast number of American gun owners living with Alzheimer's, dementia, mental illness, or substance impairments?

All too many caregivers either don't know about the guns or don't know how to properly safety and secure them.  This is where pastors can be a real help to those individuals and their families. For every pastor, please ask those in your congregation who serve as caregivers of a loved one with a mental impairment., "Are there firearms in the home ...and if so, are they secured?"

That simple question can prevent indescribable pain.  There are so many active and retired military, law enforcement, and experts with firearms who would welcome the opportunity to help properly safety and secure weapons for those caring for impaired loved ones.

Oh ...by the way ...it costs nothing to do this.

Peter Rosenberger is a thirty-year caregiver for his wife Gracie, who lives with severe physical disabilities. He is the author of Hope for the Caregiver and his radio show for family caregivers  is syndicated on more than 200 stations across the country.   @hope4caregiver

I'm Peter Rosenberger in this is your caregiver minute safety the goods. We had a terrible story in the news recently were 92-year-old woman shot and killed her own son who was willing to put her in assisted living.

If you got somebody with dementia any type of mental impairment. Substance abuse doesn't matter whatever the impairment is make sure that the guns in the house or safety that your responsibility as a gun owner if they're not your guns see to it quickly to make sure that there's a proper inventory and that's done. If your pastor, particularly to stop and talk to pastors please please please ask that question for every family that is in your congregation please asked that family to ensure that the weapons are properly secured. If you don't know how to do it. There's no shortage of people that can help you. Law enforcement retired military active duty military there so me people out there that are experts. This know what they're doing and they would be thrilled to help secure those weapons improperly inventory them for your safety for the family safety for everybody safe giving people people getting hurt.
