We are bringing a message to you were bringing information to you when great guest and and all sorts of things to help you stay in a place of of healthiness.

Healthy caregivers make better caregivers doing this. It's regular I'm on my sixth president is a caregiver and and I have learned some things through this journey and so that's what this this is all about here. I got a new book that's coming up to seven caregiver landmines. It hits bookstores this week. It's available at all the dot-coms right now, but you can you be able to execute a bookstores this week and am very excited about it.

It's it's it's a great reference book little book that you can carry with you. It's a pocket-size book, you'll fit in your purse or whatever when you go to the hospital when you go into hospice or nursing homes or wherever if you just want just pick up any page you turn any page there's something right there that will help you. I promise you this I field-tested it on me and I'm still caregiver through a medical nightmare for those you just now enjoying never heard of the show before you your listing across the Truth Network of the Salem radio networks distribute the show across the country were on from Alaska to Florida and if you just arduously yellow chauffeur caregivers really really and and I've been a bit caregiver for my wife excuse me, it's that time in Tennessee through a medical nightmare that has blossomed up to now that I can count 80 surgeries and another 8090, 100 smaller procedures at least 90 doctors get Nordic help those 12 different hospital seven different insurance companies and well over now $2 million and it just keeps going multiple amputations admitted doesn't have any sign of slowing down. And in that journey have learned a few things pretty much all of it the hard way that I have learned it in and and I'm I'm the crash test dummy of caregivers so but the show is is is designed to help bring us together so we can build each other up, strengthen each other along the way. I don't need to be reminded on how to deal with doctors done it, got it. It's no big deal I can show you that we move on to the next topic. I don't need to be reminded how to do with insurance companies.

Those of the landmines that out that I struggle with and that's that's in my new book none on their other things that we as caregivers need to learn how to deal with the could really hurt us they could bang us up pretty badly and that's what we spent some time on the show, talking about. We need to be reminded of the sinks, every single day because we forget they speak speak of forgetting things. Ali to introduce you to the produce of the show. He's he's the man you come to know and love. He's the baron of the board.

The salt of the sound Earl of engineering. The man who put the word count, into Florida recount.

He is the count of muddy disco John Butler everyone. I want to hear one thing about hanging Chad or I get my name is Chad it's watching this right so I'm sorry that wise you 2100 ruin this country for you right they finally got it fixed at Al Gore's number is okay out of anything that's it that's all we know. I all I know is that they they got it fixed and you know I was on my tax return. I really stood by how badly they get this down. You know me here to America. I mean we get this thing nailed down here in Tennessee. I mean, yeah, the final votes before the we got it. You know I was looking other states that have even more people.

They got it and did you hear anything like this from New York. We don't need to be so hard on floor now, earlier this day, this is this is there to family their owe for two here okay and they need to get it together down there out of the what the problem was how hard is it to kill you to get out. You are the killed. I am actually I was again though I was told there would be no man can come up with my goodness, bless her heart she during appeal for what they got going on down there but anyway we got to get to a lot of things. Your John I've got something I want you speaking of things are on top of that comes later. Out of the show you'll hear that but 800-688-9522 of you will be on the show the caregiver to of the day.

Caregiver tip of the day is one that I've been comes to on a while and I will swerve back into politics but not for the reasons you think.

Okay good old Dell you ever watch public figures particular politicians who get caught saying something and then they come out and I say I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. Man don't you hate that I do.

One of the things I've learned as a caregiver. Now you need to understand I have a lot more experience at this than what I'm about to say that the most of you ever will and that's learning how to make policies. I think you know if I have a lot of experience at that and I've learned over the years that you you you really it's it's helpful to own it and to not try to anyway dress it up.

It is what it is and and if you say I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, then you really not apologizing at all. I hate it when people do that to me winging sorry if you hurt my feelings. Did you say something offensive or not you know you know I'm saying that does does attract with you will because I've had that happen. Way to be times of watched it with people get on television. I'm sorry if anybody was offended by what I said whatever know own what you say that is offensive, and I think you we don't want people to do that to us, but I think sometimes we had to lead by example and as caregivers we don't need to own something that doesn't belong to us, but we do need to own our own stuff and that helps, diffuse a lot of things enough you got somebody in your life that you take care of it with dementia or they are struggling cognitively, they can't really do it but you done something that that is was wrong. You can you not only between you and God.

If they can't process what you've done, you can still only between you and God don't justify anything that we do that is hurtful that is inappropriate and and and I think if we do that you you'll find that it eases a lot of tension our own life and it also sets the table of how people are going to treat us of what we will accept we will not accept because I can tell you that when in my many many years of apologies to my wife which there.

If I have made. I forgot more apologies to both of you all will have a degree in.

I have apologized a lot and I will still yet have to do it, but I noticed that with her without when I when I look at her and I so you know what this is on me. I did this. There's no I'm sorry but I'm sorry if there is you know what this is all me.

I won't and I don't always get that right but now I know where the where the road is with the past this and I think if we can do that in our own life will train other people around us do the same thing, we won't accept anything short of that because I don't know about you but I just can't take another politician going out on on television say I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my offensive remarks I just can't take that.

We were just frustrates me that okay Willis do something about here is a group is a group of caregivers. Let's go ahead and start owning our stuff. Now don't own more than is your stuff. Don't apologize for someone else.

Don't apologize for other people's behavior. You don't own that you only get your own thoughts, words and deeds okay so that's a caregiver tip and they brought the by stating with hope stayed with hope.com and that is the presiding sponsor of the show for the wounded and those who care for.

We have two programs, a prosthetic limb outreach to my wife's fellow entities that she started many many years ago in West Africa and then this caregiver outreach to the family care for the wounded and those who care from stating with hope.com this time a year. When you think about it into your gift for whatever. This is the place to do it when you love what you see that this ministry and also if you order stuff from Amazon.

You can go to smile.Amazon.com anything you order you could direct to stating with hope. It was, I will give a portion of that study with a list squeeze in a quick call to Stu in North Carolina still on where we want to call you hear about you talk about all the caregiving you're making money with your wife, your site hello James went what is the surgery. If you miss the deadline to sign up for health insurance or to sign up for a plan you're not happy with you still have a choice.

Medicare is a healthcare sharing program hundreds of thousands of Christians are part of this can save you a lots typical savings for families about 500 bucks a month you can join Medicare anytime it's easy to call and look into it. There's no pressure at all man what a difference it can make 855 25 share. That's 855 25 share. Have you ever struggled to trust God when lousy things happen to you. I'm Gracie Rosenberger in 1983 I experienced a horrific car accident leading 80 surgeries in both legs and became questioned why God allowed something so brittle to happen to me.

But over time, questions changed and I discovered courage to trust God and understanding along with an appreciation for quality prosthetic limbs led me to establish standing with help more than a dozen years we been working with the government of Ghana in West Africa, equipping and training local workers to build and maintain quality prosthetic limbs for their own people on a regular basis. We purchased ship equipment and supplies and with the help of inmates in a Tennessee prison. We also recycle parts from donated lambs. All of this is to point others to Christ. The source of my help and strength, please visit standing with hope.com to learn more and participate in lifting others that standing without.com.

I'm Gracie. I am staining with hope so for caregivers about is hosted by caregiver, I am Peter Rosenberger Brady. Three decades of experience to help you get right back to where she started for.

Thank you for that count of muddy disco. I was jamming out you will listen 800-688-9522 lot to talk about today. Earlier just blessed but we had our caregiver tip of the day, which is to own your own own apology don't don't try to say I'm sorry if it hurt your feelings. I'm sorry if or absorbed but just don't qualify just just own it. I read some article about the structure of of an effective and heartfelt apology and a big part of it is it's heartfelt you know what's inspired this caregiver to bidet.

What's a Saturday night. Loveless night. Oh, I read an article about this morning well I thought you know Davidson insulted using speed names right.

I believe seismic you want somebody else affect at SNL they lost me at Bill Murray said that it's a he, of really wasn't a tasteless joke at the expense of the wounded vet who lost it. I ended last night the guy came on the show now Davidson was the guy that got all the heat from it, but there are other writers are there other people involved that they publish involved own. You should check on that and it was a look. It's it it ends and the guy came on in and he said you know we good good you know and they did right in front of everybody and I thought that's how you do it. He just told it.

He said man out it was you know, I'm sorry and unqualified and that's how you do it. So anyway that's I think if we'd start doing that ourselves then will be able to better help others do it for us when we need him to not accept anything short of that, exactly, I don't accept don't do not feel this need to make other people feel better about their mistakes. Let them own it because that's how they learn and just same thing with us. I got all that I got a feeling I can feel the weight of what I've done and hopefully learn from it and likes it. I've got lots more experience, it is apologies that all of you will create exactly in a big part of that white like what were saying is from where your your starting on this. You're not starting the apology to say hey I want you to feel better about it. Your starting apology from the obligation of of honest contrition. I recognize that I have caused you pain and I want to make amends for that. The word I'm sorry has become a little bit deluded but he was thought of thought said a lot about that while they that was good. That was very good. It was worth the month to read that I did see it. I just like I read about it to benefit publishing is good?

All right, let's go to today's senior moment today senior moment is brought to you by morning point senior living and memory care center, morning point.com and that point with E and I want to go the website right now just see how spectacular they are.

II had a treat this week for morning point they gave me a double chocolate cheesecake head.

I was able to have some of what's what landmines that was a double chocolate cheesecake and I thought wow the food at this place is really just a little shout out because I had some of that double chocolate cheesecake allows like, well, okay, we have some culinary people on from them one.

Yes, when did they have a lot of farm to table stuff and then you will fit people are happy people and and healthy.

You know you can't just eat broccoli and and all the time yet to have double chocolate cheesecake but it was good so will give a shot of the morning point.com POI NTE and but today senior moment was brought to you by them and inspired by Gracie because she gave me one today. Cici said you need to do this is months I got today senior moment for you and it is too early for this to stay on message.

Now why would she go figure that I watch on Facebook love it. I just saw little hearts to stay on message but you know that is such a great piece of advice Gracie thank you for that.

Stay on message and that's way that's how we keep from getting out into the weeds and and getting off track, and getting pulled into it, things and arguments in conversations that just we just don't need stay on message.

What what are you about what what are you here to accomplish what it what's going on in one of the things I've I've really enjoyed about this show John in the now 5 1/2 years we've been doing this if you can believe that is that we have stayed on message with this. We are here to strengthen the family caregiver that we will swerve into something else. Periodically but not very often well and a little bit about this. Just as we talk about taking care of yourself means or to you is ultimately taking care of the person your loved one is that you can if you're if you're constantly we can read off text the entire show is fine. It would deliver the information but we don't find one. When I first started doing the show they hear WIC and Auch of course got national but they sit. Don't ever Scripture show that I looked it was, it will that's negatively about that's in the rearview mirror.

But even though we don't script it. We stay on message and that's today senior moment can you stay on message for what your about what you're trying to do with your loved one with your job with whatever else is going to stillness. Don't get pulled off in the sidebar areas that can really drag you down and and clutter you got enough clutter going on in your life as a caregiver. Let's reduce that and stay on point.

Hey listen will be right back. Talking with author, speaker Jackie Sheppard to bring her some some great Intel on dealing with them. The stress of the holiday season. Going into this and what it can do for us with flus and colds, all those kinds of things help us keep healthy dog away 800-688-9522, this is Peter Rosenberger. This is help for the caregiver will be right back. Great news. If you miss the deadline to sign up for health insurance or to sign up for a plan you're not happy with you still have a choice.

I'm Gracie Rosenberger in 1983 I experienced a horrific car accident leading 80 surgeries in both legs and became questioned why God allowed something so brutal to happen to me.

But over time, my questions changed and I discovered courage to trust God that understanding along with an appreciation for quality prosthetic limbs led me to establish standing with help more than a dozen years we've been working with the government of Ghana and West Africa, equipping and training local workers to build and maintain quality prosthetic limbs for their own people on a regular basis. We purchased ship equipment and supplies and with the help of inmates in Tennessee prison. We also recycle parts from donated lambs. All of this is to point others to Christ. The source of my help and strength, please visit standing with help.com to learn more and participate in lifting others that standing without.com. I'm Gracie. I am staining with help. This is hope for the caregiver. This is Peter Rosenberg are glad to have you with us. They hundred 688-9522 and were all about strengthening the family caregiver. We look at fiscally physically, emotionally, spiritually, professionally, every way we can to help that caregiver stay strong and were going to tell me your words incredibly stressful for caregivers. The holidays are very stressful have told you over and over.

My favorite holiday is Arbor Day to plant a tree you water it.

Say a prayer you walk away leaving to go holidays with whom us should know this Kelly April Fools' Day you know but but but the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and Hanukkah and New Year's everything. This pretty much is going to be rough all the way through until about you after Presidents' Day. I usually say about Epiphany is women and I usually give up my New Year's resolutions for what may okay so but that this is stressful time for us and so I've got a very good friend must've been on the show before and I've just come to really rely on her insights and advice to share with us ways that we can push back against this distress that we live in is caregivers weakness already so Jackie Sheppard Jackie with us. Jack is calling from Kansas City and that she is the author of silent takeover how the body hijacks the mind, and Jackie.

You have been used in a lifetime studying this and watching this and observe this in your own life evolve also served as a you a principal of the school's or did you do your principal school marching with peers and so you watched the way students the way that their eating habits and everything else affected their ability to learn and so forth. And I thought while there's just the stress that that happens with us is caregivers is got to affect us and and and weaken our ability to to do a lot of things.

So talk about that little bit) under more trying now lately right holiday job Thanksgiving three years from stressful time of year that solidly it's the most stressful test is a horrific grace I could do something different. We'll talk about another date.

This Christmas were doing something for ourselves different to avoid some of that because that week we try to cram surgeries into it. It's colder where where the traffic everything about it is just is just nerve grading and and so you you spent so much time documenting all these things, what it does and then you talk about the way we approach food the way we approach life. Everything else delve into that was gutless go deep into those waters now on the Bible and Haman are Bonnie everyone around and I think one of the reason so hard on a lot of time. Patient expectation and more than anything. When you can't hear very grant holiday lost family members but all pretty bad memory. Adding financial pressure and that the holiday we kind of great unity which involved every a lot of time sugar. Take a minute to talk about and talk about everything that sugar current actually quite blind down there. Good guy are soldiers and are Bonnie on the bright lights out here and taking care of the sugar for the leader will now 40 here all the fine hours pretty long time. Something really double top can't say that list.

Let's just say that this is something else I should block. I went to find a job driving.

Larry scurvy. I know that what he scurvy her job. I sugar Peter one more thing on that night. Three people are in relation from mom that all Florida trip. Maybe they should have been working on third Grapefruit and drinking. All of our nation ordered, we have to recognize that we are Bonnie Ellen Eric all nine we probably now diet caregivers how proper diet and exercise need to be healthy and going all the help you not talk while you put me on something that I've been doing for some time I try to get away from a lot of prescription things have cut those out watching all the things that you help me do this a lot for about a year now a little over year. I guess and I have found some pretty good success with this one. But what is it doing for me.

I still don't quite know all the sites on this thing. What is it doing forming what one might when accomplishing with a semi rebuilding something or my supplementing something or both are and how we know, no longer line line that there are certain implant that portion which bright line that I recommend to everyone. Actually, I think all lined quickly calling and are very quickly not one year now. Now they know when that every time he repaired designed to regulate survival down there job. That way, and are asked to nation down now. Bonnie good guy not call the bank you regulate dreamily important thing in your body probably wind it up regulate. I am trying out are showing that you can regulate that nature more that are 25 people were welding with the trial.

People were actually with the flu virus been able to regulate them in the up regulation 9.trial that regulate little thing knowing that little trumpet line virus. This is the stress is damaging us the environment and then die all these things are just compounding to work against us in the past when we've gone to any type of nutraceuticals, or things like that. We I've always looked at people that didn't ship with her hair more Birkenstocks like that were into that and now that's becoming a tagging that's becoming a little bit more mainstream in our society will realize you know what all these chemicals we been putting in our bodies that that pharmaceutical companies been pumping at us and everything else are not really doing the work for us that we think they are that we hope they are that were paying for them to do and wind up creating more more problems with this and so I think I think there's an educated population of the society. Now they're saying you know what working at the turn back to syllabus more natural things to start building up her bodies. This is what you've done with me and I'm not to say that smarter or anything else because I have to be people end up that would disagree, but I have seen some real improvement in my life at least one of the nerve NRF 20 colors nerve blockers or something.

The latter term short play little way out that her call you now are getting more production line. We decline every day. Good guy actually occurred one year.

Bonnie be able to help mentally mission to help other people as well. Well this is this is what I have got a lot to talk about anything that I don't do myself that I use myself as a guinea pig and use Gracie on this one is a guinea pig which is that's that's even higher on the list and you know the results speak. She's cutting records she's going to just get back from Africa.

She's going on television.

CG does a lot of things she be more more active that she's been in the last decade and the surgeries have necessarily stop with her on the of the challenges because she her body is so broken, but that's architecturally internally and mentally. What it stood for.

For both of us.

I like to say John of improvement say that Jon I have many, many lengthy logs and statistics on that but I think the overall well-being of this it is not. If there's not a magic bullet, but I think there is point were shoring up things for me as a caregiver with the stress it's on me for Gracie with stretches on her with chronic pain, we've seen that with this particular path that you take this on Jackie Rupp against the heartbreak. Jackie hang onto that great news if you miss the deadline to sign up for health insurance or if you sign up for a plan you're not happy with you still have a choice. Have you ever struggled to trust God when healthy things happen to you.

Is that correct okay on hostess by the way on our podcast and it's a free podcast, we have will put it out there about social media pages as well. Twitter and her Facebook pages hope for the caregiver.com just one more thing were just putting it out there for for fellow caregivers to take advantage of all like to use this is what I'm doing and I been a caregiver now for 30 something years through a pretty significant medical journey and so this is what I'm doing this the results I'm getting.

I'm seeing better numbers for bloodwork all that kind of stuff and I am pushing myself hard to be able to better equip myself to for the journey because you will and grace she's doing this for herself as well. With all of her stuff going on, just go take a look@standingwithout.com and see the pictures of Gracie judge for yourself. You know works for Gracie. It's a be helpful to just about anybody but Jack, you want to know how much I appreciate you coming on the show insured. We had to have you back okay so thank you and of the book is called it's called silent takeover how the body hijacks the mud, we we gotta be smart with your sis with the stress that we have in the things we have in our life. We got to play smart is caregivers face.

What a great show.

There's more that you could see I did staining with hope.com get involved with what were doing. It's for the wounded and those who care for them.

We started a prosthetic limb, outreach, and now we've expanded that to the family caregiver and and you can be a part of what's going on there with our prosthetic limb recycling we get ready ship over some some more supplies to West Africa and they're waiting on a ship of hope for this week or first of next get them in the air and we got we we recycle the parts for prosthetic limbs through a partnership we have with core civic over over Nashville and inmates at a prison that they run, disassemble, use prosthetic limbs so that we can take the parts like the knees defeat the pylon the adapter to connect or sometimes even the screws and will ship all that over there at that on-site in Ghana working with Ghana health service workers over there will then take those materials and will will fabricate a brand-new leg for those patients and uses recycle materials to help get them walking and leaping and praising God. It is an extraordinary ministry envision my wife laying in a hospital bed. Following the amputation of her remaining leg. She'd only lost her first four years prior to that he or she is as a double amputee, and she said I want to put legs of her fellow amputees tell them about Jesus and that's what we do so you can be a part of helping it standing without.com will put the show out there, you can subscribe to the podcast at their Monday book 7 caregiver landmines.
