John, you know, I spent some time in the emergency room over the years. Couple minutes here and there about lots and lots of trips.

There's one that stands out to me and I taking Gracie over there and it was she was she was pretty sick and you don't show up the emergency room for not just have a good day and you know the mushrooms are kind of crazy places anyway and everything is going at light speed and you show up and you just your very distorted.

Well there was this one :-) that stuck her head in the room and just helped settle everything down. I'll never forget it names Terry Squires and she's on the phone with me today.

Nurse there at the time and now she's going to become a wonderful author, speaker, television host, all the above in her new book is called I seek truth and it is talking to your heavenly father about finding truth in life.

Beautifully done and comprehensive devotional that takes every book in the Bible and just kinda gives almost a 30,000 foot view of somebody struggling in their journey of faith to go through this and so Terry, welcome to the show are you feeling like I remember about our well III remember most of our ER visits with that one stood out to do. If you do that I remember to put that. I know that's probably not the way you thought this would start off but that was it.

That was a better moment for our friendship in you and your husband Ted and I just am very grateful for you. You it was just a kind word and you just kind to us during a very difficult time and thank you for that talk little bit about this book and what prompted you to write this. My heart and I've been in the public world for a long time. You know that and I think I could manage journey a couple years ago and could make a unknown place I find myself a lot and he pulled me into the wording and my sweet friend Kay Arthur and George might blacken we get blind dead and she challenged me and she could carry. I know you know the Bible study his word and I started thinking about that and I realize if I didn't understand something I external grant in God wanted to skim over. It's working like sick and true every bit of it all.

66 but he wanted to know that so I started doing well stagnant type. You might've seen him on Facebook. I can smell segmented seeking truth and studying and and then he put on my heart to write. I keep true and Peter I think truth is not about me it's about all of I and I think truth is about the reader and so I wanted to encourage people to get back into his word because we weep taking time out of everything and look at and in our world so full of darkness. And we need to get back into our lives and so I started writing I think truth and in like a psycho prime Genesis to Revelation. And just how we know sweet stories that he uses the night I only say why do people say ordinary people. I say extraordinary people because all of her extraordinary and the union for five to show his sovereignty. How are his love, his mercy is great. His healing and so I spent some time in and the Lord gave me. I think your will. As I was reading through it. I stopped it. My one of my favorite books of the Bible to notice John's is this the book of Job and how you went through Job and did this it and I love the way you done this because you you do allow the. The first person of this the way you wrote it to come to be all over voices and I saw the chapter heading of Job.

It is as you allow it to happen.

That's a hard thing for a lot of folks particular caregivers right now and you you we we struggle with that.

Think appeal because we have to watch so much suffering and you've watched in your medical career you watch suffering and it it's a difficult time to watch and think how decent he allows this in heat. He does this with talk about you.

Even just writing that chapter.

When you did that because these are not insignificant words that you're putting them on this page. You're not of red love devotional so a lot of people send me devotionals and want to talk about of the air and thinks it's like that this one though, is you brought a different viewpoint to this that I've really really admire and respect and treasure with it and you didn't get real. Flourishing with that you didn't get real weird about it like some people just kinda just want to try to write a Christian Hallmark card or something that is you just brought a simple honesty to it.

But when you wrote just for this particular one of Job, tell me a little bit about writing that for you when you wrote that you allow it to happen now. You're right like they're real and they're all kind of question that we are God, why do you allow that and I turned that on Joe would try. Now I know I that the one thing about God is sovereign and denied that he now thinks will happen in and asked to be current week. It will not know the answer to God knows the answer, and he knows what you're going through. Help that person, or the next person. It's so hard for us to understand why bad happen to good people. You know why God knew Job heart. He knew that Joe knew his truth. He did not plan, and no matter why Job was going to be faithful and so as we all go through our trials.

That's what we need to deal we need to hang onto his promise that he is faithful.

There is something good going to come out of that and we might not ever see that it will happen and I and I also think about and in Luke where I talk about that the woman who was bleeding for 12 years and see picaresque. She knew that she could worship the temple because she was unclean and anyone who touched her would be unclean and she'd been sick for many many years.

Only she could catch Jesus and even Jesus would have been unclean. If he would've touched her black. He knew that his healing touch a little touch of his garment know her face was so strong that he would kill her and that so these are all the devotions, and I think truth are the hard questions that we all have God a broken forgiveness finding true live. Hope losing a loved one going through a divorce being betrayed by a friend.

We all experience that and I'm just praying that I think truth will check encourage the reader that yes I'm that I think.

Two.

And that God is sovereign did not and he wants you to know everything about him will I like what you've done with this and that you go through a lot of times people just throw out the top four youths of Scripture that you when you go through stuff and I've never particular care for that when you go through the things that grace you have go to for as long as we go through them pretty much run the whole lot of platitudes that off of that are offered by the Christian folks and in this when you went through the entire Bible of the human went into Leviticus and not an easy book to go through it all.

The mother probably every book and you brought out something that is unique and and deeply personal meaningful in every chapter starts off with you as you requested. Did you know will, of course, on their little excluded Terry up about stuff the list of excluded marriage one. Billeted knows that Bella Bella do feel stupid job to Jahan there, but you're right felt every single one. Start out you are are you see you know that there's a line and I did and I'm confident all that you see it now, but it all fairness, I just got this on Thursday so it done on the 12 so it will brand-new out there and it it it is 90 devotions so you're right, I went to 66. But that, the larger black. I had the right moron like Isaiah or John or Genesis itself is not unlike the love that about and I think you for doing this. I think you for just stuff about to share this dog got asked you she had some.

She was from. Tell you what, so I could hear about that I lost my train of thought going that Peter will we get drilled of the purebloods ourselves, but it's I wanted to switch gears a little bit with you and asked you just a little time I have left. You've seen a lot of folks come into the emergency room of the hospital in your career and blood people now stepping into that role is caregivers and they are clueless on it.

Just as a kind of just the color the way you did with grace, not just the day was so difficult for us. What are some things just the practical things you would offer you brought a lot of your nursing to this I can till of this is a very gentle book for people goes very deep and very painful things this a gentle book just the way you you care for folks in the way you care for us. What are some things that you would just say to people who were just now stepping into that role would have to go back and forth emergency rooms and so forth as a way just of encouragement to them and some practical things they can do to prepare for that this this the theme of come today shows billable prepared on things. What are some things just comes together in your mind never know what it wants to walk and now I say a lot of question and locking his friend asked questions get intimidated and they really don't and they are free so that's that may still very basic but that's a bit important thing to do. Now the question I need to know what medication they are getting. Why are they going to have his hat and if he can't remember at recording on your iPhone or write it down and the doctor and asked the nurse why are you doing that we live to explain to the patient and their family. What is going on in it and if you have a care and nurture, and that isn't doing why you need to let her know that you need to know what is going on with your your loved one. It's important to know because a lot of people do come in there up that they don't know what's going on and and so they need to be prepared to ask a lot of questions of what what have what medication and why. I remember becoming a caregiver when I was very young I was 22 years old with a started this rule was Gracie, and I was afraid to ask questions I was afraid to question the surgeon or even a nurse, and that that by the way that it doesn't last terribly long and in the cut of a situation that we have, but it was there that I think about how many people are afraid of that and or or bashful about her or intimidated but and these are your words as a professional who's done this please ask the question so folks listing price.

Please ask questions and what medical why don't write about something then and now I work past doesn't feel right if you need a second opinion second opinion will that that I will stop because the best thing you could do was to help to give us become more assertive upset for years of the show. Don't underestimate caregiver authority. You may not know the science of what's going on locally but you know them that's important. The book is called I seek truth by Terry Squires Terry worse it could get anywhere where Barnes & Noble book a million Christian bookstore about the best way to contact you. People want to have you come be a speaker. Whatever was best when they could do that..com I seek truth.com.

Listen, this is over the caregivers as they should never watch over the family caregiver dispute Roseburg will be right back you ever struggled to trust God when lousy things happen to you. I'm Gracie Rosenberger in 1983 I experienced a horrific car accident leading 80 surgeries in both legs and became it. I questioned why God allowed something so brutal to happen to me.
