Caller from Oklahoma shares his journey as a caregiver and how he's learned to humbly approach those who suffer.

"I understand when NOT to cite Romans 8:28"

As powerful, true, and meaningful as this verse is, knowing WHEN to speak it to people in trauma is a sign of wisdom and humility as we recognize the magnitude of others' pain.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Have you ever struggled to trust God when lousy things happen to you.

I'm Gracie Rosenberger, and in 1983 I experienced a horrific car accident leading 80 surgeries in both legs. A mutated I questioned why God allowed something so brutal to happen to me. But over time, my questions changed and I discovered courage to trust God that understanding along with an appreciation for quality prosthetic limbs led me to establish standing with help for more than a dozen years we been working with the government of Ghana and West Africa, equipping and training local workers to build and maintain quality prosthetic limbs for their own people on a regular basis we purchase and ship equipment and supplies and with the help of inmates in Tennessee prison. We also recycle parts from donated limbs. All of this is to point others to Christ. The source of my hope and strength, please visit standing with help.com to learn more and participate in lifting others on that standing without.com.

I have to call him first time: but when you're describing. You coming alongside not offering platitudes that really rose I am well I have the skills to not caregiving. Presently, I lost my wife over 10 years ago and since that time. In December of OH God is refined every hope to return.

I am well and my extravagantly good afternoon everyone is hoping to encourage others work in hospice caregiver for my mother in that situation. Hospice came to be reversed the table so to speak. So what your words is that there are other men were in traffic have the same skills. Many was far better than one.

So I want to call and say thank you you know Homer, first off, thank you. That is incredibly gracious. Number two I don't know that my skills are better than yours. Didn't we just we just we just two guys along the path of taking care of people that we love and we throw everything we have added and sometimes we do it recklessly. We we hurl ourselves, sometimes foolishly it's something we can't fix and then we need people to help us more strategically do this and this is what you learned through your journey with hospice and how to better strategically do this and this is what you are helping others do and you're also reinforcing that with me so it's kind of them that that's how we do it as believers to we come alongside each other and just keep reinforcing these things I have I have gospel amnesia. I have caregiver amnesia. I have to be reminded of all these things on a regular basis and you just reminded me again this morning of the importance of this.

I can hear in your voice a bit.

What are things you do as a caregiver is is you you you learn the nuances of other caregivers just hearing you could see it.

You can hear it and and I know that in the end, this is and even though it's been 10 years with your wife. You could tell that he still weighs heavy on and are you doing all right. I am doing fabulously well church situation actually not as yet.

I recently transitioned from Southern California in Oklahoma family here.

Congratulations for getting out. Thank you, my hard seeing what's happening in the news, but by the same. I am also a strong believer. My faith is shaken. Second Corinthians 14 is resident in my spirit, mind and I still understand women not to slide. Romans 828 through an individual suffering but I can offer encouragement as an apologist being a walking caregiver by the fact that I got just a second backup. What you say that again about Romans 820 and wants to say justly said you say to get one here that will come to an understanding where not to slide. Romans 828 to an individual suffering and I come to know why you love. I love that Homer love that I've never heard anybody say it like that. I love that because we we just slap on Romans 828 like it's a bumper sticker on people who are just bleeding out and become catching release Christians walk around offering platitudes without substance. You know I you you with this.

My favorite call the whole show today. You went over to you that is fabulous. Thank you for that because you know when I go back to when my wife was was at her current, and she's she's bleeding out by the side of the road and her body is broken and 200 breaks, at least, that they counted and nobody needs to come up and start prophesied over her and given an innovative robust Lake 28 with all things work together for good. Gracie Marie somebody to save her life and and and and that is exactly what we need to people who are in trauma. Whether it's the trauma of a car wreck weathers the trauma of watching a spouse die. It doesn't matter.

It will its traumas, trauma, and we got to walk into these things with with with great humility and you just reinforce that this morning about how important that is. And Homer, thank you and Debbie will give me one more favor when you find we find a good church home there in Oklahoma that understands what you're talking about calls back and tell us it will tell folks about it, but the church I want a big mission to help people I care, I feel like a lot of people who are dealing with the kind of things would deal with are not being church properly.

They don't know where to go. Would and and so we want to make sure that we we pointed to a place where they can be ministered to administer to others who are dealing with these kinds reality. So would you do that for me, whereas you're looking happy to write Homer.

I thank you now I got I got one more calm and try to squeeze it, but so far you're at the top of the leaderboard. I will thank you very much for calling. Thank you for listing and I look forward to more conversations with you and thank you Homer thank you very much okay I will see
