Barcode Roy to be remembered by what I was doing this job. Obviously something to the audience. This is the God's honest truth. I want you just bear with me just adult.

We were greeted by 2 cups of propane.

I have watched John Butler for seven years and this is a man who loves being a father truly love this. His father stated he loves being a dad and he is so engaged. I mean this with all my heart. John you are so engaged with your children and in the learning process it and it's almost like you're watching your discovering the world with them as they discover it while it's a curious world out there and there's a lot to discover he is not looking at it like you're not looking at it detached here in there in the trenches with them, learning it and excited about it as they see it. To me that's what I like to me will and and I mean that's what looks like to me to and I don't know how other people do this. I just know what I do and I'm I'm very flattered that you you see that because that's kind of my goal in all this. I was I was want to be a dad and II got to be one that set by the way happy Father's Day so very much and I love you do, but what about that there will be a spike in dead jokes today how I'm sure before you have a dad joke for you know I've got I got a couple of them here. Do you know where get chicken broth in book no I do not know where I can get chicken broth in book one, the stock market. Okay, I know that but what Father's Day I'll give you one more one okay I know I'm giving you one more all given me one more okay Father's Day know why not. I did a couple of minor but it's so why is this is from the book that you got me for Christmas. By the way this outlook is that Jets appeared for Christmas, I hear about to give you heads up, get another one that will be in Celtic Italy the Celtic that the only man that's fantastic. Now I have to sit there and translate it all and always good is good. How much does a hipster way. How much does a hipster way correct.

Yes.

I don't know an Instagram that's a little bit even a little bit okay okay okay all right see you know why milk is the fastest liquid on earth. I give dad's pasteurized before you can see I got were done, but we sincerely thank you for the shout out to dad's and eyesight you have. You and Gracie have raised two very fine young man that are impressive and always and with no small credit towards both of you so happy father Yardley. I will take take that because they are in out in spite of me, they have turned out. I am grateful for them.

John did you and you and I have had this running conversation 470.

You can even with me on the show now for seven years and this is been a running thought on pain and how it affects the family. The relationships all the above and looking up.

It will take it all in the bottom of the hour them will will kick around smart. The next segment and I am of the mindset that pain permeates every relationship. If you are a chronic pain sufferer.

Then understand that your pain will permeate every single relationship you have of of any significant relationship about that not everybody brought up the relationship you have with the guy at the gas station necessarily weak, but you have this one all the significant worship, but it also prohibits it is prohibitive. It is permeating is prohibitive and it is persistent those three-piece that we we need to really spend some time in helping caregivers understand what is this mean and then we have to we have to dig the psychology okay what what was the goal here what we trying to accomplish and we get calls here and I have gotten emails and calls and so forth. For lo these many years, you know.

But what you do about this end-of-life things and so forth and you never broach the subject of what's the philosophy, where we going because anybody can get out of pain immediately. Right now there are so many different types of devices and in substances that can help remove the pain, but that doesn't necessarily solve a problem it creates is my set of problems won't pain is a symptom of a larger issue and if you're treating the symptoms. No matter what, and that you know that you can't do it if it's if you have had a condition where you're not going to correct the source of this pain you can put know you know I hate to use this but like putting a Band-Aid on it will be temporary. It'll help but fall off. Eventually, you can't can't get another Band-Aid on NSA so it's a rough place to be, and the philosophy of how we deal with pain like you are saying. Sometimes we forget how that all works out and we really need to dig into payment itself is not a silly bad thing. It lets us know that something is broken so that we can try we can treated. It lets us know that there's danger so we can avoid like fire right heat something sharp those kinds of things and so you look at pain in the sense of okay this is a mechanism were equipped with to deal with scary and traumatic things in our lives we get there, but when the pain doesn't leave.

That's a much different conversation, and so take that up to bring this caregiver 877-655-6755 living right. I teen years ago Gracie and I started an organization called standing with hope, and this was part of the vision that she had after losing both of her legs. She wanted to provide quality prosthetic limbs to fellow amputees as a means of sharing the gospel we been working in the country of West Africa for many many years and part of that involves a prosthetic limb recycling program with an unusual collaboration Gracie, when you envision doing a prosthetic limb outreach. Did you ever think the inmates would help you do that, not in a million years. When you go to the facility run by core civic over in Nashville and you see the faces of these inmates that are working on prosthetic limbs that you helped collect from all of the countries that you put out the plea for and their disassembly sell these legs like what you have your own prosthetic arms and arms when you see all this duty makes me cry because I see this on their faces and I know now what is locked in place when you can't get out with somebody else allowing you to get out so these men are so glad to be doing is one thing, good timing with my did you know before you became an amputee that parts of prosthetic limbs could be recycled now had no idea I thought Peg leg. I thought a wooden legs. I never thought of titanium and carbon legs and flexibly the legs and all that. I never thought about. As you watch these inmates participate in something like this, knowing that there helping other people available providing the means for the supplies to their duty just on the heart level. I wish I could explain to the world. What I see in here and I wish I could be able to go and say this guy right here with I never not feel that way out every time you know you always make me believe I know it would only II feel like home within the common I could put together. Now that you've had experience with what you think of faith-based programs course. I think there is absolutely awesome and I think every prison out there have faith-based programs like Kies the return rate based program like this are amazingly low rate compared I think that says is me just as God uses somebody broken people want to donate a used prosthetic limb passed away somebody that you donated some of your own head out of the do that please go to standing with.com/recycle gaining without.com/recycle backspace record CD came out in the 80s daughter you think I would know this right. What is the other new all digital MP3 release and I got that far think is available to download, but I got up with the whole CD out there hold recording and as you just busted me about that earlier today because she can't and people to go download the whole thing will write I've assigned that to associate 00 that would be you just the all the comments about why you get download Gracie CD to be directed to John Butler at the you know will work… I want to copy that CD right it was suited to go steady without.com.

You've heard her story on what were trying to do with with the state with open any donation that ministry will send you a copy. I will talk about pain John there lots of different kinds of pain, and so before you start this conversation as a caregiver. This is something I have wrestled with and it may be helpful to you to you what to do about how to live your life or how to take care your love one any more than you can tell me how to take care of mine. But here are some things I've thought about that. I've learned along the way, flows out of John and I got a kick around yes and tools he picked up that you pay this. This is a great joy that in the chest. You know well anymore and share with other people more than just tool just perspective.

I think that okay. I've lived with the woman for now 34 years is not known. A day without chronic pain, severe chronic pain 34 years single hour not. She told when she said she woke up she said I dreamed that I was dreaming in my dream I was in pain and I don't you know that just that sucks. I hate that for okay that's what is. But as I said earlier, the segment she could be out of pain today.

Right now we could sedate her. We can number up at all that but she wouldn't be able to function so I came up with these two things are we there to escape or we there to equip and to me this is the conversation that you have when you're in or at least it's a conversation that would be helpful to have when you're in the chronic pain situation escaping or equipping in Gracie's case she's not terminal her body will world terminal but death is the final destination. But we all make stops along the way. Some of us get the pedal to the metal to get there but she's not terminal she's hurt she's just orthopedically a train wreck so how do you what. What's was the goal. Did the industry to stay in the bed all day long because if you do that in the terminal think it's accelerated laughing starts to atrophy. So then you do what you do get it and you can't keep her on an enormous amount of narcotics.

We went down that path.

We have one doctor got her so filled with narcotics and man. It was tough on her tough on me.

Tough on the kid stuff on everybody and I have said this is news and views. It was she had seven figures of of opioids put into her body over. You know a short period of years, but certainly enormous amount of narcotics and not one doctor, not one nurse that one pharmacist not anybody in the medical profession ever pulled me aside to do put a lot of chemicals behavior altering chemicals in your wife's body. Have you thought again some help for you
