I watch my children to relate that I can't completely and unconditionally you and that's how God the father left.this is family policy matters a radio show and podcast from the north line of family policy Council hi Tracy, that breaks communications director at NC family sitting in this week for John rest for many of us it seems life just gets busier and busier. The magnitude of responsibility in daily tasks can often been overwhelming. Our guest today extremely busy and accomplished in her own right has some thoughts on how young parents can find lessons of peace, contentment and joy simply observing their own children, Aaron Mauro. Holly is a graduate of Yale Law school, a law professor at the University of Missouri, a prolific writer, a former clerk for US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. And if that's not enough. She's a politician's wife, her husband Josh just won one of the most contentious U.S. Senate races in the country and that makes me exhausted just reading all of that. Prof. Holly joins us today discuss her new book, living beloved lessons from my little ones about the heart of God. Aaron, welcome to family policy matters related to us what it means to live beloved weeknight really chose that title is one of the trait and decidedly in order to have a boy at Lacey. Three. I don't like pick and I am happy to go out of their relationship with. The researcher stated that young children infant elected ancient law that I get so anxious when their mother's not around the distorted living out of a relationship with the parent are completely took the two boys with a thought on the campaign trail interesting in divergent thinking to problems with you campaigning impressed by how they handled it as long as we were together.

The family and that relationship and that the ability be joyful in things and boldly and courageously because they knew at the back of the world who they were depending on but love that example of shoulder putting up relationship that something that God called us to look allowed to live beloved to know first and foremost that we are supposed to precious children, regardless what we do or do not accomplish on any particular day little bit more about what possessed you or what compelled you to write this book will prove to be motherhood with Cordova Rocky why I ended this little infant and thinking come from copper without you in my mentality, my working life just to try harder to succeed in that manner by putting in more hours or effort in life that simply trying harder I work, I got the cry I kind of wondering like God is sovereign and got it he could've made this easier. He could make 80 weeks of the night on why why didn't he apply what you have to on the situation. One thing to the Lord really with my own.

Then we focused me a call to mind at the verses in the gospel where Jesus is talking to his disciple and he speaking with them and actually would be to grade but he got a small child, I had my picture because of Mozart's human anything this is what I looks like, and in other places. He said that in order to heaven. We have to become like small children begin cursing.

My kiddos exuberant joy their desire for relationship health. They are at their ability to really rack all of these characteristics that I think about what I said wow and kicked you just are comfortable with the as an adult I don't really like dependent on on someone or something is I got the key.

I want this to acknowledge and live added that indeed he in your book you talk about engaging in a performance mentality but when it comes to parenting, talk about it.

What what is that mean as far as being a parent and also what kind of effects can that have on your kids crystal easy for the 26 were defeated. Marriage I would work really hard at whatever profession whatever job we have forgot that Monica motherhood. Well, I read an interview I'm talking about the different things that can cut it, I think they listed on the one that is enough.

Any money datasets with the thing, but they often lifted well-behaved because I think it is easy to transfer mentality might have working also to our family life and God help us, that it value or worth.

It is not how well it that date well, but it is because we are so beloved children of God, not targeted the word recognize that were free you to kind of.

I that God wants us to be because were not hung up on how well you are listening to policy matters of resource from to listen to our radio show online resources have a voice of persuasion in your community to our website NC family.org and how can moms and dads rest in their relationship with God and enjoy their children and their lives even when things can seem overwhelming.

Do you have some tips for us.

Oh goodness I got my eyes on Peter and just have the ability to run out of relations and they're able to. You are our younger kids played out on the five that on the campaign trail, you get big and I are and you can sleep anywhere and the reason he can keep fully confident that I'm holding tight AND therefore, and encourage mom and dad. That is your feeling overwhelmed just to accept God's invitation to become a claim for God gives is that he will never leave a state that he guides us at the time that he tried to city as we go that he is all sufficient. All of these promises that we know what we feed our kids just at the top worried and they don't worry about any Thursday God calls us to that as well just really rack so you talk in your book about outrageous requests, particularly how our children's outrageous requests of their parents can teach us important lessons about prayer. Talk about that a little bit like it would probably be at the time and arrived in late summer evening, probably about 9 o'clock, like he hadn't really been there earlier had remembered the gift work that I would construct wondering just for men any jumper your feet up on the ground something for mom. I can't prove that the request is not only that I could that he he had at confident that you get anything for them that we desire to, and I thinking like we see God's heart for our own prayers that we can ask for the big thing he's the guy that makes the impossible possible and we can ask the deepest desires of your heart to think that team too difficult for God because they're not looking at and we can also ask I think I saw the really small things. Everything from knowing others during a glass of milk. All of the all things that are children asking for think I also want to talk to him about to offer him because he cares about those smaller things.

In addition, that large. Do you and your mind then distinguish between being childlike and being childish. I think it cemented the thing that went to the park for about made up of the talking about that trait that are childlike, like the tongue of the ability to childlike ability to rest relationship have spontaneous offer praise for the smaller goals exuberant embrace of life for some of the characteristics that talking about when he called his disciples to become childlike and distinct from… Not a temper tantrum with trait that a lot of close relationship to be with him about human nature side right so as a woman who has it all.

Certainly by worldly standards with both a successful career, a beautiful family. It sounds to me like you would highly recommend children. I know some successful women have their doubts about whether or not that's a move that they should make what kinds of words of wisdom do you have for them with the I and Blake edited that. I learned much more like two boys Betty and they brought me intermediately motherhood.

I grew up in an alcoholic. We discussed what had base mentality constantly looking for my work out of microphone and not all bad, not bad, work hard, but it does. I was simple, but we might have worked in value out of that. Don't really refreshing you like to watch my children and to relate but I can't completely and unconditionally you got the father love.and he called the first to believe in hand and the children only out of that identity called to be involved in the work he had our first shoulder immediately located really refreshed and provided spiritual transformation in my own journey to become childlike again. So before we close. I just really have to ask you your life is about to be ramped up onto a more national stage. And you guys will be making the move to Washington DC so talk about that a little bit what are the challenges that you think you're going to face and how are you going to continue to apply some of these principles in this world when you're about to step into that great question. I think for people that I will likely have more time together at the same way where you have lived there separately and after we were married. Looking forward to reconnecting the family with people who believe in the Lord community and family on keeping the boys ourselves getting grounded across the board think they humbling at happening because they are easy to control, and the wonderful thing is really recursive housing positively because they were not about it. They will keep us from getting grounded will.
