I don't know that that we can over emphasize this to get so I want you to open your Bibles to Nehemiah chapter 4, and I'm asking you all of you to get a copy of God's word, by whatever means it might be on your iPad. If you got a hard copy.

Here we've placed Bibles in the pew racks right there in that beautiful Genesis service as we worship together wherever you are today that Baden side if you just listening listen, I'm going on askew to really listen to God's word and I'm going to be in in in Nehemiah chapter 4 now before I read it if you could just I just would like to say this to you.

I'm going to speak to you this morning on the power of overcoming discouragement. Anytime you serve the Lord, and you seek off the God you are going to face an intensified label of spiritual warfare. Everybody listen to me. Can you think of any reason why the devil wouldn't want to get you you got a wonderful family, your halters at least trying to do what God wants you to do your wanting to hear from the Lord you wanting to live for him you wanting to heal your marriage. You wanting those demons to be cost out of your life.

Did you know that fostering rallies angels together you are calling on God's angels you can you think of any reason why that old devil sitting up there saying this is just wonderful.

I'm so grateful that they getting serious with God.

You and I are going. If you haven't already, you are going to become the focal point of spiritual warfare discouragement is going to come at you. He's going to throw everything at you. He's going to throw it at your family. He's going to throw it at your business.

He's going to throw it at your church is going to try and do everything to trip you up to stop you. To discourage Nehemiah was a man off to the heart of God. Nehemiah there's nothing in this story about Nehemiah that would seem to suggest that he was doing anything other than wanting to do what God wanted him to do. God showed him the problem.

The walls were broken down in Jerusalem. Gates were burned. He said, Lord, I'll do it.

He was honorable he went to the man he served to the king, he got prepared properly. He went over. They he spoke to the people.

He did nothing under the table. He met with God and that all devil said, to do everything I can to stop. So let's just read about Nehemiah chapter 4 and I'm going to just read the strikethrough so read and listen in God's going to speak to you.

Nehemiah chapter 4 now in San Ballard heard that we were building the wall.

He was angry and greatly enraged, and he jeered at the Jews and he said in the presence of these brothers in the Army of Samaria.

One of these feeble Jews doing will they restore for themselves. Will they sacrifice will they finish it up in a day will they revive the stones out of the heaps of Robert rubbish the burned ones at that. So told by the Amon Mark was beside him. He joined in and he said yes. What are they booting if a fox goes up quantity would break down the stone wall verse four here. So in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall in the open places I stationed people by their clans with a swords they spears and they bows and I looked in the rose and I said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord is great and awesome and fight for your brothers and your sons and your daughters and your wives in your hose when our enemies heard that it was known to us in the guarded frustrated.

They plan we all returned to the war, each to his own work, and from that day on half my servants worked on construction and half held the spears shields, bows, coats of mail and the lead news stood behind the whole house of Judah were building on the wool.

Those who carried burdens were loaded in such a way that each labored on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other, and each of the Buddhas had he sold scrap to decide while he built the man who sounded the trumpet was beside me said Nehemiah and I said to the nobles and the officials of the rest of the people.

You know if I can just say to you, and I just want to give a note here.

I've already promised myself that I'm not going to try and get through everything in this message. If I need to carry this over the next week. This subject is so important, but there again will let the Lord decide these things, I think Nehemiah's discouragement was evident in a number of things.

Let me just give these to you.

Let's think about Nehemiah for a minute, not ourselves. Just let's talk about what we write about your just let's put it on the type.

So how was this spiritual warfare. This discouragement does Nehemiah. These people God told them what to do. That would going to do it. They were sitting about. They were just like you all. I tell you, there are just hundreds of people right.

Not everything you just you want to you doing that you're on track. Deciding Lord I just want to honor you.

That's Nehemiah Saha what was what was evident he is discouragement was evident someone through people. That's how his warfare was evident came through people like what specific names you Sand ballot and towbar and the list goes on.

Can I just tell you something, folks. Let's just the doctor today 9.9 times out of 10, someone is going to try and bring you down kind to people number two through major anger. Anger. I will say this very clearly on verse one that anger was involved.

By the way, that all Dabo doesn't just kind of prefer us not to get close to the Lord. He's angry about it. There's a difference. Big difference.

Anger. Anger closes some very untoward behavior doesn't, you know you can be displeased about something but when you cross over that line of anger it produces things that we don't even want to talk about is discouragement was evident number three in personal ridicule. He jeered at the Jews.

That little word there to jeer means he ridiculed them. That's a personal attack. Let me tell you everybody watch me you want to know if somebody is coming at you from the devil or that they brought good reason. If there's a personal attack involved in it. It is someone tries to belittle you, attack you in your soul, spirit, so this was the third area. It was a personal ridicule number four collective efforts, it was seen in collective efforts. You know verse two tells us in the presence of these brothers in the Army of Samaria.

Okay watch the sparks spiritual warfare always looks for company K. Anyone waiting for a clue here. You sitting and looking at your life you wondering what is this thing going on. The devil always looks for company he's going to go out and find as many people as he can to join him and he will do anything to make that happen.

He understands the power of company and actually we got to see how that works here as you go through the so is discouragement. You know it was one thing if Sand ballot was unhappy with something, but Sand ballot was so angry he ridiculed. He went off to him.

When that didn't work he went out and stood there with all the troops and he said, let me tell you something you need to hear what I think about Nehemiah he try to get the Army to turn against them. He wanted you wanted everybody in on this sick tannic attacks will always harness the troops always hold meetings. The call meetings are on number five. Stinging sarcasm. I can't avoid that. I mean it's all over this one, two, and so on. Stinging sarcasm.

Can you imagine saying that I can't believe you said this man always hearing from you is that you're one of these feeble Jews to you Rick think you think you going to be able to do that, you know, towbar towbar was the lackluster lackey of Sand ballot talk: towbar the tick bite you not tics do, don't you tics latch on to other people's bodies so that they can get little drop of blood to live on. It would crumble. So what he did was he started even demeaning the quality of the work that they would let one of those builders think they do. And then then one more just want to say to you, he is discouragement was evident in relentless persistence, you know, when you get down to verse seven, but when Sand ballot relentless persistence so what happened was, you know, here comes all of the stuff these people.

Verse six they followed their heart what your heart telling you so I'm going to keep using the same illustration. If you marriages struggling you know your desire. You know where you need to be and what God is putting your heart follow your heart. Don't step back. These people knew God had called them you the walls were broken down you they were on assignment knew what they had to do in the Bible tells us right there in verse six that they followed their heart. They had a mind they mind was right to work to get on with it.

So watch this when you follow your heart. You going to get on with it because that's what God putting your heart. See what happens with discouragement. Discouragement courses you and me to wonder stop obviously I'm going to give up if you've given up today in the name of the Lord Jesus, I want you to crank it up today. Get back to where your heart because I'm 10 units relentless and it'll weigh you down is not easy.

I mean it's just it's gonna some for some of you you been facing this not just for a week or two. The some of you this is been going on for years trying years and years you been facing summing and it just tells you not even sleeping property because it's such a deep burden in your heart before they prayed. That's what the Bible says in verse nine. They pray that's why we calling ourselves. By the way, prayer and fostering Moloch Siamese twin. It's not one or the other. It's both Bible tells us that when we do without a meal. We go for it. Without eating what we do in its place is we pray, pray, read Scripture talk to God. I guess what's going to happen. You those hunger pains, which are so real. By the way, the ever wondered why God picks on food.

Why did he pick on food. Men want to pick on something else. Why did you have to pick on food. Why did God choose food abstaining from food because if you've noticed every baby that's ever born. What's one of the first thing a baby does when it's born and was all cutie cutie cutie cutie.

You don't just leave that baby with its first plane stop looking all cute kicking there a way that you not the babies actually say give me something to eat and if you notice when a babies born. We spend most of every day saying when I got to go feed the baby food is part of us from the top all of us and all of us go through that we all love food. We will eat food and by the way, we will need food and what God is showing us when we stop eating just for a period of time under control in a definitive way and we don't follow the hunger pain, but we Rob go to God. He feels that hunger pain with a spiritual food. Physical nourishment becomes replaced with spiritual nourishment. The biggest prayer meetings we will ever have in this church you want me to tell you the best way for us to have a prayer meeting in his church lost all of us to stop eating for a day and then at the end of the day come into this century and have a huge roast appear I mean the best roast the best you've ever seen. I mean just sitting there looking at us with potatoes, vegetables, gravy. I mean, the whole 9 yards on me just hanging there just looking at me saying please eat me and then me get up you on-site folks, we are not going to eat that with gonna just smell that while we continue to seek God's face. We will have the biggest prayer meeting we've ever had.

Because what happens. All of a sudden your focus on God, will become sharpened like you can't describe it like you can't describe your incredible physical design and nourish satisfied with things that God has given us is nothing wrong with that.
