We all could use some encouragement, find it together today in the Bible-based teaching of Dr. Don Wilton today. We continuing the study on what happened when Jesus prayed, Jesus is praying for you, you'll discover more as we open God's word together. You can also discover more on our website and EW online.org now Dr. Don Wilton what happened when Jesus prayed before he died. I think sometimes all too often, perhaps especially in our modern-day world we have in Jesus Christ, wrapped in clothing that someone with our own tastes and I think that's understandable.

I think that we struggle somewhat sick right Jesus Christ the son of God from Jesus Christ suffering servant. I think sometimes in my own life has been a tendency to reduce God to my own human limitations and I cannot even begin to imagine what Jesus must've gone through when he contemplated the cross, just very often when he knew about these things. Jesus understood the end from the beginning he had already been there. He knew what lay ahead.

I think that someone in the heart and soul of the Lord Jesus Christ. They was beginning to grill the same kind of questions that we would've that had these things happen to us why me Lord, and I seem to remember somehow in God's word, that when Jesus hung up on the cross that he did the same. I brought my blog.

Why have you forsaken me. I don't believe that those words were not good indicating the sampling of the time between the sovereign God and his son, but rather that because Jesus Christ was playing the flute price of humanity. He was representing. I think that believing that we would've gotten something elaborate. Perhaps that some Christians would've gone on for far longer time, but I cannot even begin to imagine the agony of this lot in the Lord Jesus Christ and you just think about it from start to finish his whole life and the lives of being agony God's spirit will the first thing Jesus had to do the son of God who was God and was in the beginning with God. The same lot and had to reduce himself to some smooth fetal position within the stomach lining was by many American women. Can you imagine the agony of a God who was the L4 and the Omega, the beginning and the end being reduced to such a scenario, bound up in Scarborough Scarborough as a career. Between life and can you imagine the agony of the son of God, being first bound the birth canal of a million American women have been having a lonely place. A stable I mean this is gonna be talking about. Can you imagine the agony Jesus Christ has broadened him to begin to grow to manhood. I cannot even begin to imagine the agony of our Lord Jesus Christ as he took his first step as a baby and and everybody applauded and said look, Jesus is taking his first off. He was the son of God. He ripped from before the foundation of the rule. I cannot even begin to imagine the agony of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As he approached East between Nigeria's when he was neither here nor there. People and reviled him because he was neither big nor small, cannot imagine the agony of the son of God, as he went through that journey puberty. I cannot imagine what he must've gone through as he went through the years advancing beneath fathers clopping the shot placement, he was confined in the Jews, despite being the son of man, I cannot imagine the pain he must've experienced when he took that hammer in his father's shopping list and they'll likely learn new and smashed his finger. The Bible says that he was the God man that he suffered in the points. Just as we suffer, yet without sin. This is the same one letting them before the crucifixion found himself in the garden of Eden, contemplating something that was for us.

That being the Jews to the womb of an expectant mother, I think, though, do you suppose the Jesus understood what was going to write for him. All he knew that the days of roses and trees. Judah knew that the protection of these disciples were one fearless leader just to the room in a fantasy.

He knew that the things that abilities power and disposal time had come, that he was going to be taken and he was great to have scripts torn out of these, including his bow. He knew that they were going to spank Cindy's hand that he was going to be. He asked inside and said you get to drink plain pharmacy status of the event to relieve his predicament. He was about to go through.

I think that Jesus brought 70 could see himself hanging there for the seven of mankind as the viciousness and the anger of God need to doubt people step outside of the grace of God because of the think that Jesus Christ, the son of the living God could see the people in the marketplace and the Roman soldiers as they cost the Brahmans that once rested upon his body so it withdraws the Jesus came into the garden and he prayed. I wonder what happened on that day I heard about Islam whom Peter turned to insane the Christ the son of the living God.

This is the same one Lazarus and said Lazarus is the same one who said this and clean the 5000 with the medium.

This is the same one who rippled on the written command winds and the waves to obtain his voice. This is the same son of the living God, and hearing John chapter 17 define the Lord Jesus Christ. Join with me in your Bibles this morning to the Lord's prayer John chapter 17 in verse one. The Bible seems awfully Jesus saved his BIOS submit to you today that I believe it was not just following the things that he had seated was following the things that he had done. I think it was awfully Jesus had done everything that God had told him to do. I think it was now the time is drawing that this man's assignment was complete as a man that he was standing on the threshold of being translated into the very glory and presence of a righteous king about holy God. Often this Jesus Christ had been traveling with Andrew had gone through these things demoted to pay the price for people like you and me. This Jesus up to heaven and he prayed for the time has come. Glorify your son that your son may glorify you, for you. My father granted him authority over where people that he might give eternal life to those you have given to him. Now this is eternal life, that they may know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent by virtue glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do now. Father, glorify me in your presence with the same glory I had with you before the world began last week we introduced the subject, what was Jesus saying the agony of the cross.

What happened when Jesus cried before he died. What was he reminding himself and another nominee was reminding himself in God's timing is perfect. Yet Jesus had been bound by human limitations. I can only just imagine how the disciples would come to him often remarked in the early hours of the morning and had awakened him, and let sit in lieu of monster.

We've got to be in Galilee and we have time for us to get out that if we don't get up and obligate a missed breakfast in Nazareth. I do know that the cafeteria is only open certain hours and then we go to get down there right on the podium and if we don't leave no time will restrict us and you want have any time to preach to the cross. I can just imagine the numbers of times that Jesus stood in front of crowds and as he was getting to the end of these message people stood out like when he was about to give the invitation and save time.

It's 12 o'clock.

Church is over, given enough time to this brought to the restaurant I need to stay any longer. I'm out of here.

I've done my duty.

I don't know how many times Jesus stood and reached in and say people but time because human limitations in verse one of chapter 17 Jesus is on his knees, looking up at him and reminds him soon and also God's timing is absolutely perfect and there is a real sense in which God Christ Jesus is saying this is the moment we waiting for. But there was a second thing Jesus reminded himself and all of us in this most marvelous expression prior to the resurrection. That is simply that God's glory is ultimately look at verse one father. The time is come.

Glorify your son, so that your son may glorify you the agony and the ecstasy of being the son of God. I cannot even begin to imagine.

As Jesus began to sweep great drops of blood as he began to agonizingly's heart and soul and come to grips with the fact that God the father was about to turn his back on God the son because of the sin of mankind. So because he is love, and right there in the colonies knees as he contemplated the Jesus Christ reminded himself this is to the glory of God. Why, because this is the climax of the incarnation is he demonstrating. We looked at this last week three things. He demonstrated the sovereignty of God over evil through the cross and resurrection he demonstrated the compassion of God people through the cross and his glorious resurrection. He demonstrated the finality of the cross for believers is through his day, and resurrection.

Jesus came to the glory of God's ultimate and there is a sense in which the son of the ponies made his you're listening to Dr. Don Wilton, our teacher, your own The Encouraging Word. Don't worry you'll be back to complete today's message just a minute, but he wants me to remind you were here to pray for you 24 hours a day at this number 866-899-WORD take a moment jotted down stored in yourself and know that would be our joy to pray with you and for you 866-899-WORD 9673 or online@twonline.org now back today's great teaching with Dr. Don Wilton father, please glorify your son. There was 1/3 thing that I think Jesus reminded himself it was and that is that God's authority is granted God's authority is granted in verse two he says for you granted him authority. There is a real sense. You have my beloved friends if you will beg my problem there is a real sense here that we find in our hearts. God, standing up before the early ages and saying man has sinned, and in Adam. I need one who will represent the sin of mankind run by bivariate authority demonstrate my love in such a way that it may provide undeniable evidence of the vastness and of the greatness and of the heart and the love of God people because it is the love that constrains me and I can see the sun standing up in heaven inside father in the medical not only the lowly stable even though McCain's trappings and existence to the cross and slapped me in the face let them do whatever they want me to do for God so loved that he gave his only begotten son he's only unique, one-of-a-kind son, there is none like him to him and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father, through grace and truth. This is the Jesus whom we worship this is that one came down from heaven in order that we might have life.

This is what Easter Sunday is all about.

Hallelujah. What a Savior. What an incredible thing to think about. I believe the name between Jesus knelt and prayed in the garden of Gethsemane. He was reminding himself that God's authority had been drawn to in the giving of why because it was granted by the King of Kings and Lord in the extent of it. Because these authority was granted people by his son and in the south of it because it extended time and all eternity is a lot to stamp the mighty God of things and there is none like him to him what was Jesus doing when he prayed before he died. Do you suppose, perhaps it's time beloved frames between rational beautiful little pictures of Jesus hanging upon the cross, perhaps it's time that we thoroughly pronoun these and understand the enormity of the agony upon the cross for the son of God hung there and suffered for people like you and for people like me.

But there was a fair thing that he reminded himself of and to which we are also reminded, and that is some validity blogs position is absolute down there in verse three.

The Bible says that Jesus prayed. Now this is eternal life, that they may know you the only true God. All and Jesus Christ whom you have saved. Yet Jesus was a colonies knees looking up to heaven talking to God the father within the context of the agony of the cross that was about to be loaded upon his life, and God the father reminds God the son as his Simon.

The father communicate and dialogue with the other, Jesus, and resurrection truly is a timeless spiritual CU God's position, time, and for all eternity across the empty was about to do. Beloved friend was about to see you the absoluteness of everything that God gave Adam and why, because God is pre-roll, God created the heavens and the everything that we have.

There is not a thing that stands outside of God's holy hand, there is nothing that has ever existed. That does not come by the touch of the hand of Almighty God Jesus DFCU God's position as creator Jesus was about to seal God's position as to studying the Bible says he not only created everything we have ready sustains the mother might and power of his spirit fungus causing place any claim exactly where he wants to be. He made everything revolve and turn the sun and the moon, and he keeps them exactly where they supposed to be created man in his own image and he is man to the sole purpose of glorifying his wonderful night and providing for him. Yes, Jesus did. Jesus solidifies God's position as absolute for time and for all eternity is creates role as sustainer as provided in Jesus Christ. Verse three Jesus is reminded that I am the son you, the provider one convenience upon the cross and bringing about position as provided for old people time and from all eternity.

He is sustains create or sustain a provider and of course as Redeemer will Jesus Christ the son of the living God blogs position is absolute. God's position is absolute and caring. Verse three Jesus said you are the only true God, can you just imagine as he knelt down in the garden of Gethsemane. What might've been going through his mind. Some people lost me one time did Jesus ever get distracted when he prayed. I should imagine seller because the Bible says that he became man for us. I think that Jesus became distracted. He suffered in all points.

Just as we do, yet without sin I think is every possibility that even within the context of the agony upon the cross, that the Lord Jesus knelt, and I think that he remembered quadrille all the persecution the blasphemers the Salix the fat Sadducees and the Pharisees and the false gods that were everywhere.

I think there is a real sense that when Jesus went to his knees and prayed before he died that he was almost well as you would want the pound to be split Jesus and that he was being harassed that he was about to be beaten like him want to have anything to do with it. I would try to do my heart that there is not one person worshiping to the would be citing. I wish this thing would be over done my duty.

I've come to church. It's Easter I will listen to my friends and my family. I've sat down at my living room chair and I'm behaving myself. I haven't said anything. I'm doing my duty but I don't want anything to do and that's offensive. It's ridiculous about a Savior who does something like that. What kind of safety would get that sort of thing happened to himself and was Jesus saying when he went to his knees. Jesus was in a sense hundreds in this treasury threatened by the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and he said listen, I want you to know that God's position is absolute. He is absolutely true.

There is no one else like him him and the lion and man can come unto the father but by me. Listen to what he sees in verse three. Now this is eternal life. They may know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

What a Savior all wonder what happened when Jesus knelt and prayed before he died.

I think he reminded himself of God's timing is perfect and we are reminded of that. I think Jesus reminded himself of God's glory is ultimate and we are reminded of that.

I think he reminded himself of God's authority is granted and we are reminded of that. I think he reminded himself God's position is absolute and we are reminded of that, but there was a thing Jesus was reminded that God's work is complete because of the cross and the empty tomb, and we are reminded of that down there in the school. God says I have read on. By completing the work you gave me to do. Did you notice that what was Jesus doing when he prayed before he died. All yes he was reminding himself that God's timing is perfect in God's glory is ultimate in God's authority is granted in God's position is absolute, but he was reminding himself in God's work is completely complete. John 19 says it is finished had been completed on the cross exactly number one he's work of obedience to the father was complete.

This was the end of the road.

This was the ultimate act of obedience that Jesus Christ demands it. The cyclist that is why we are a disciple making church because that is the mom Jesus Christ. He's more of obedience to the father is complete it is finished. Number two, he's work of channeling glory to the father was completely complete. Everything he did was designed to glorify the father number three he's offering man's redemption to the father was completely complete and there was nothing there to be none. There was nothing to be said there is now no condemnation to those Jesus lots of Christ. One simple truth and the life had no man can come to the father probably beside the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ with I believe before he stood to his feet, he reminded himself and our souls of one more thing and that is that the sons return home is guaranteed) verse five BC is and now did you notice that having said all of these things. Having done all of this and now father would you glorify me in your presence. Listen to this with the glory I had with you before the will begin to other sons return home is guaranteed. Just picture this, would you for a moment. Jesus, looking to the cross all the agony of the cross of which he had no doubt whatsoever.

But you know something because he is gone he sold me on the cross he sold me on the resurrection, and he sold the guarantee of the father that the son would be reunited with him in glory for ever referencing sighing to think number one. He was confirming his preexistence, but the second thing he was confirming was his equality with the father, God speaks perfect. Dr. Wilton from the pulpit. Now, as he steps in the studio.
