This is the Truth Network encouraging prayer, God offers open imitation for his people to talk with him at any time about anything encouraging prayer Dr. James Banks, author of the best-selling and many other books on prayer provides weekly physical insight help you learn to mom and now you prayer on praying and singing through Christmas, and I've really been enjoying. I've really been enjoying this series because James why you keep saying Hark you sound like a dog with a sore throat with a question. Yeah there you go oh okay will what Christmas Carol do here at the end of the movie wonderful likable trivia question here. Hark ruled angels see glory to the newborn King. That's why we say it someone who has a little too much fun with saying that what you think about it anymore arcade game English but a great word like I cannot stand. Hark, that's true, it's just another way of saying listen to someone were to tell you to listen to something saying Hark I mean, you might say. It sounds a little funny when it one of the things that we have to be careful about it, or a I think talking in a way that others can really understand and end up part of the story behind this Christmas song that will get to that in the moment and will also get to what I have prayer, but for starters we don't miss the message with the song is all about it saying listen. The Angels are singing and what they're singing about is absolutely amazing. That really is. All the more because it's about something that's true about Jesus person really just imagine angels praising him. I mean, that's to hear Angel saying I can hardly wait.

And you're right, we need to listen to that message and take it to heart right so switch gears for a moment let's go back to what you're saying about the words we use. I know that some important not to speak in Christian jargon and use terms that we only use in church and someone else doesn't understand because it doesn't help us reach others for the good news that we want to share what does that have to do with this song. James probably wouldn't notice Carol not for a change wording, but didn't really take off until the words were changed by famous friend of his, none other than the great evangelist George. But before we go there let me ask you question.

Do you know what well can you ever heard well well well it sounds like it was my camera doing good okay I'm grateful to Robert Morgan for his writing on him for this information but listen to this way the sun used to start heart how all the well can ring. So what is not what you think. It's an arcade word for the expanse panorama of heaven and you can see that we think the Angels filling the sky after the announcement of Jesus birth.

The problem was that the word was archaic.

Even back then back in 1739 when the sun was first written, so Whitfield changed it to something everyone could understand and and you see his own way with words here heart, the Herald Angels Sing instead of Hark how all the welcome ring and there's one other thing about the song that we should notice another lyric change and this is where I wish we still have the original work because it would help us praying a little better today after Whitfield we think Hark the Herald Angels Sing glory came up what it actually said was, Hark the Herald Angels Sing glory to the King of King saying, glory to the newborn King is nice and puts it right Jesus birth. We already know and Jesus is in the newborn anymore. He's the king of and I think it helps us to keep that in mind as we praise him King of Kings and Lord of lords. That's really the point of the song, helping us to praise God makes me think of to 14 or the angel said glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. Yeah that's really the beauty of it and I love the way the second verse starts Christ my height work right the everlasting Lord you write beautiful Scripture references in this and and when the third verse says light and life to all he brings risen with healing in his wings.

Malachi God tells those who love him, but for you who fear my name the Sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings, and you will go free, leaping with joy like house out the pastor. I love that she's ever seen a calf or a lamb kicking it seals up. You know it's ultimate picture of life and freedom you know and that's what Jesus does for us.

Yeah, yeah, that's the picture. There is no life like the light he gives an that's another Scripture reference at the very end of the first word born Teresa something born to give them second birth.

Of course, is referring to Jesus words Nicodemus in John where he says we must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.

This whole song is such a beautiful reminder to praise God for Jesus and everything he does for us and I hope it will encourage us to pray, you know, Craig glory to the King of Kings this week and into praise him for everything he is and does for us. Thanks James.

I hope your listeners will hearken well done that you said it twice or is it three times. You know, I've been afraid so I probably father. We do thank you so much for these wonderful Saints that wrote wrote these amazing words, these hymns that we sing, but we know what inspired something that inspired their entire life. As we pray for that second birth although soliciting today to hear more from Pastor James by visiting the website.
