When I would mess my father never looked at me and said you know that's no longer my son now at times behavior. The relationship certainly symptoms are behavior constrain our relationship with, but he doesn't look as if it will let you know my child the words like man I wish you would do that that's going to hurt you or people around you were still a child, welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee since we been adopted into Christ family we have a great life ahead of us, both now and for eternity. Find out more about this amazing life in children of God is better.

David continues in Romans eight here is overlooking a Romans chapter 8 and in incredible book.

It is incredible. Chapter encourage all every week at the please read this chapter once a week. This this chapter literally change my Christian walk in and actually what I did as I read it every day for about a month so encouraging. We can to read it like every day because you begin to absorb the truths contained in it, so we stopped off at verse 15 so was pick it up. Romans chapter 8 it would pick up where we left off and we will next week. Chapter 8 verse 15 says for you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, father verse 16. For the Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. But the thing of adoption.

We talked about this a little bit last week something to go headlong into it, but you know we walked week. I hear people say they were all children of God in the Bible does. That's not what the Bible said whenever you hear somebody say that it especially the Semites was to know the Bible or even a pastor. It's like will.

The Bible says that were not all children of God because he that would make sense if we are all children of God.

What's the big deal with adoption but we call him father after adoption for all children of God. Can we call them father before adoption, according to the Bible were not all children of God we can be children of God.

John chapter 1 verse 12.

So this is many believed upon him and received him he became.

He gave them the power to become the children of God. So we got received or believe, receive, and then the silver starts about as many as are led by the spirit of God, so he got you believe, receive, let me think. Okay. Was it like a three-step process now when you believe I'm not talking about just academic acquiescence into the truths of God were not mean when you believe when you say okay my sins or hold me back, messing me up and I and I'm sorry for and I believe that Jesus is the Messiah of the world. Once you come to that knowledge then you want to receive the truth you want to receive Jesus and as you believe, and then you receive them as your Savior. You're now led by his Holy Spirit. You are led by him. Now you can decline to be led by him, but that's part of becoming a child of God and being a child of God. Jesus paid the price for our sins and and when we leave receive and are led by we begin to let go of these things that hold us back and weigh us down.

Romans 612 says this, what shall we say then shall we continue in sin that grace may abound certainly not, how shall we.the sin, live any longer and it so you begin as you believe, receive, and are led by you begin to let go of these things. Not all at once it be great if we did, but but slowly over time you begin the let go of the same. We talked about the fact that some spiritually or lettuce plants a pop-up from seed and are ready for harvest in 45 days with a lot of us are more like olive trees taking years and years sometimes to bear fruit. So Wheatley got this being a child of God being led by God. Bearing witness with our spirit now; that I'm not sure what that means. Pastor David bears witness with our spirit. Let's remember God we call it referred to him as a Trinity for God the father, God the son God the Holy Spirit and then we are also made up where I trot with trying in the sense of we are body, soul, spirit okay so when were born again our spirit is is born again, born anew and that bears witness that we are children of God. New living translation puts it like this for his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God's children friend it, whenever you read the Bible. It is kinda interesting as a study about. Sometimes I'm I'm looking at it what it says and sometimes something about what it doesn't say what I mean by that.

It doesn't say that we will always feel like were children of God doesn't say that you know why because sometimes friend you won't feel like your child again even though you know them as your Savior, you have received, believed, and are led by the be times when you just may be a mess up or maybe you feel like you've drifted and you just don't feel like your child of God. But we don't go on. Feelings do as a little child and as a teenager I messed up. You know in life little bit slow but messed up little bit.

You never know all the gory details. But when I would mess up. My father never looked at me and said you know what, that's it.

You no longer my son never said now at times my behavior streamed the relationship. Certainly sometimes our behavior constrain our relationship with the Lord, but he doesn't look as ago. That's it. You know my child anymore strange relationship in the sense that we do stuff we should we get involved and suffer shut and then and then the words like man I wish you would do that that's going to hurt you. Let's get her people around you, but were still a child at times we may not feel like were his child.

But if you know Jesus as your Savior.

You are his child, so good. Verse 17 and if children, then there's heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified together heirs when we start amount heirs running inherent sort errors heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ, joint heirs, meaning that we have a will get into this deeper in another time. Heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ, and that that were part of the family of God is amazing stuff. Before we get to the part of what we inherit and how we inherited what you know you always see those movies and then went to my past whereby one a going away, it's never liked and rely for its Win-win liquid got heirs. But before we get to that part list. Let's look at something like second half of or something. It's as if indeed we suffer with them.

No, like the part of the mark through that part of my problem is I really don't like that.

No one can can't do you can mark in your Bible but you can cross there versus that's not good going take one thing away from your today not good to mark there versus but it's in their if indeed we suffer with him. Jesus one time is talking to Peter. Peter has this great revelation about who Jesus is. It's a home run. Peter is probably sooner going. I got it right.

Peter didn't always get a right but he got arising from feel good right and then Jesus begins to talk about how is Gundry somehow was going to die in peace sacrifice crucified, executed, and it says Peter then goes to correct him he he he he wants to correct Jesus. Now before you go like Kimberly Peter did that to understand we do that sometimes we would be as arrogant enough to speak it out but sometimes when we pray we go.

God what you don't like this. Not so long as I got were coming to.

Here's what you need. Got you need to do it like this. And so like that because that is obviously not working you can see that so I'm praying that you do it like this, but when Peter said begin the crags are not so Jesus Jesus Tony get behind me Satan and you want to talk about going from the house of get direct relation to the lows of been called the devil and like 1.6 seconds why Jesus say that well because Peter was really sand in order to be Savior of this world.

You don't have to go the cross, Jesus was rejecting that effective remember if you've ever read the story about the temptation more the enemy of our souls of devils offering Jesus this and that is offering the world and and all this what was going on there. Same thing is offering Jesus the world without the cross friend when you get Jesus you get the cross. It's a package deal. You can't say why won't Jesus but I don't want to cross. Now there's a lot of people that preach what I would call cross list gospel. They avoid the cross. They avoid they don't talk about pain. They never talk about suffering, but that's a reality in life and we suffer we go through hard things we go through tough thing to go through difficult times. Sadly, that's part of life. If indeed we suffer with him. The new living translation puts this verse like this. And since we are his children.

We will share his treasures for everything God gives to his son. Christ is ours to but if we are to share his glory. We must also assure his sufferings. So we will suffer some to God's grace we don't suffer as much as we deserve Jesus in talking about the cross said something the people and is kind of a one of those things where you're like Matthew chapter 10 verse 38 says if you refuse to take up your cross and follow me. You're not worthy of me and mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it, but if you give it up for me. You will find it. If you refuse to take up your cross. In other words, if you try to have Jesus without the cross friend assigned a work you won't get Jesus without the cross now know what we do with this first week we we translate this and all kinds of silliness talk to people you know talk about their spouse and all she does this, and she does that. I guess she's just my cross to bear this is amazing. She said the same thing about you know that's probably when we have marital counsel. We make sure both people are there because strangely enough, their stories are different arc or crosses is dying to herself, letting the past go when you come in the contact spiritually with Jesus you want to began to let the past go, you want to be weighed down and encumbered with all that you want to be set free to live the new lines that Jesus has for you and all its fullness in all its glory. But what else this verse is talking about suffering and joint heirs. And so this is part of the transition of you that second is as if you cling to your life, you will lose it, but if you give it up for me. You will find don't raise your hand, but how many people in here really believe that verse that if you cling to your life will lose it, but if you give it away for his sake will find. Do you believe see there's people in here that was a yeah believe that. And then there cling into their life. Jesus is no way you're going to find thank you again for joining us for cross the bridge will continue with our teaching in just a moment know what friend marriage can be difficult, and yet it can be such a blessing. Now let's return to our study.

In John four Jesus was talking to this woman at the well is what we call this Samaritan woman. He overcomes he avoids a lot of arguments which is an interesting will save that for another time, but he and Floyd's argument that this lady keeps trying to pick an argument but instead of arguing with the lady he avoids the arguments we can deal with the issue of her eternal well-being and are so and she's talking about the water in the well.

He said something to just one of those life-changing phrases that Jesus was so always uttering. He said whoever drinks of this well will thirst again.

I love that phrase whoever drinks of this will thirst again make a great sign.

We would get, we could make a sign that we could we could put it like over the doors of Wall Street. Maybe or maybe at the bank are all the other things that life encumbers us with everything so this is going. You'll be thirsty. Get down with that thing a popcorn to watch a movie and you put, you know all those things and popcorn that are really not good for you and you know butter and salt all the stuff on there and then as you eat it.

What happens get thirsty because that's just what happens when you eat salty popcorn and I'll try to popcorn without the salt messages gross.

If you want to do a good for bit so I put salt on my phone and it makes me thirsty.

Life makes you thirsty means you just go through your life man.

There is a thirst for something more.

There is a dissatisfaction with the things of this world and you consider go out wonder what the key is now he's telling you what the key thing this is this is the deal if you just drink of what the world has to offer. You will always be thirsty. Friend and some of you are walking right now around March. Jesus is saying, come to me, come and drink all who are thirsty. Jesus is giving you the keys to life seem like this is how you discover what it's all about you give yourself away and still we cling maybe through fear. Fear of rejection. Maybe, fear of being discovered, for the stuff we've done in the past, or whatever. But Jesus wants to set us free, and he gives us this simple thing and says hey if you want to find your life given away and you figure out how how this works not just asking for you to mentally agree with me on this point.

I'm asking you to embrace it as a spiritual truth or will suffer more than you need to mention joint heirs with talk about that because that's good stuff. Being a joint heir. What are we inheriting man awesome stuff.

Redemption glorification. All these things. Matthew 25, 30 forces.

This, then the King will say to those on his right hand, come, you blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, inherit the kingdom. The kingdom of what the kingdom of God you can be in air and inherit the kingdom of God will how do we do that well you come to Jesus as your Savior do receive, believe, and led by being led out of the old ways out of the old pass out of the old habits we can set those new habits and new things given to the new way of life because if you try to hold onto old whaling.

I don't know, friend of a better way to ensure that you can have more suffering as you hold on to your life your illusion glorified together inherit the kingdom of God. Awesome stuff. Verse 18 for I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us and in the King James a Marine in the new kingdom during the King James us is for I reckon that the sufferings of this present. I like that because I kid with Emma Renz and and stuff out West in California will not don't see that's how we know that the apostle Paul was from the South to use the word I reckon you don't hear that out in California. Here here. I recommend not recommend now now is pollen that King James version are recommended as a well and hope in the reckon is in the sense of an accounting term reckoning and notice what he says in the way he says he doesn't say that the sufferings of this present time are really cannot outweigh the need by the glory just a little bit is just, you know, so the sufferings are outweigh just there to scale. And in the sufferings warily. You know that is more the glory that it is no slightly lower rates were once geeks out over the other. Paul uses the phrase worthy to be compared. While sufferings of this present time. No need to get excited about the little things they are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Second Corinthians 417 says this for our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurable great glory that will last forever.

This is written by Paul second Corinthians, and he says for our present troubles are quite small. So what was the was going on with that with Paul's quite small troubles all his quite small troubles were he was being beaten wit thrown in jail, imprisoned, shipped off the room and ultimately executed and he calls those small troubles because of small troubles. You know what I got tiny troubles, but yet we get excited about the little stuff going really stand around having a blog which is what time is it one more line 15 people. I went to wrestling this woman 10 items or less jihad. 12 you not to be talking about it.

We talk about then talk about it now well because part of us likes the complainant is only a couple people honestly here to get the rest of not meet yes we do. We tend to complain. That's what follows is not the complaint within the complaint, what we just do we want you know little tiny particles feel sorry for my taste or you feel sorry for what I will put a port complaint will will why we complain because we get caught up in the here and now serving caught up about heaven us to think about heaven in heaven. If you know Jesus – your ultimate destination is where you're going. How often do we talk about heaven, not enough.

I'm one of these guys that went out when I travel you know I don't understand the details and I can do this, you know, when I got to know where this is and where that isn't how how actually far is the that that Starbucks from the hotel is at .35 miles and how you get there in a hurry and so all these different things right and in my wife's not like that. We took a trip not too long ago we got somewhere had everything planned out.

You know she is where we go now Vanessa you know where he got his phone you want me praise God she's following my leadership but I'm interested so what would happen if I wasn't on one of these trips is not just show up for little while and go home. Some of you can relate to that some of you related to me. Reckon recognize because of my planning. It's not always an asset because you know we go if we when we went to Disney World the past I've got like there's a list would do this. We do that we gotta run the space Mountain before the landforms we got go back every but when I get there. I want to be ready to get when we get to heaven only be ready to get. I want to have look forward to it. I want to have talked about it. I want to have focused on where I'm going for. And you would never make a trip anywhere without some form of print planning and looking forward in anticipation shouldn't be like that with heaven friend you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven.

You can know right now only Jenna short, simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry.
