You live according to the grace with your say it's not about that which we wanted to be both on topic and we want to feel like we did something we are oftentimes really get saved in this like okay now than earning UK set about something that's already been given welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee Senior Pastor of the breach encouragement with your life. Throughout Scripture, we hear that we cannot go to heaven nor own salvation is only through God's grace. Pastor David discusses why this is so important today as he continues in the book of Romans chapter 7, but before we get into today's teaching. The devil is able to implement so many Christians today because they simply don't know the Bible about God's word. That's why we want to send you Pastor David's DVD message Romans recorded in the heart of ancient this eye opening. Teaching will show you that the historical act of the Bible Romans from our way of saying thank you for your gift today to help more people on this station and beyond cross the bridge for to go to cross the bridge.com to request a copy.

Again that's crossed the bridge. Now, here's David McGee with his teaching the life-changing joy Romans chapter 7 chapter 7 is a really it's one verse by verse in chapter 7 of there's a lot of interesting things in here some difficult things in sort as the skipper regular Romans chapter 8, so Romans chapter 8 verse one is that there is therefore no thought I Romans chapter 7 says this is. Or do you not know, brethren, for I speak to those who know the law but the law has dominion over man as long as he lives.

I noticed that phrase do you not know several times in this book several times in the Bible it says do not know do not see do not understand. Let's understand Christianity as walking by faith, but it doesn't mean you cut your head off.

It means were encouraged in the Bible to daddy to show ourselves approved. In other words, you need to know why you believe what you believe. If you don't know why you believe what you believe then people can take advantage of you. They can linking down ABOUT.

We want to base our beliefs on the Bible that says do not know three numbers to bridge the woman who has a husband is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives, but of the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband so then verse three while her husband live she marries another man. She will be called an adulterous but of her husband dies, she is free from that wall so that she is no adulterous though she is married another man. Paul is talking about the law and is talking about Gracie's not necessarily dealing with marriage you talk about marriage is a principal that is going to bring the truth about law and grace of this is not to beat up people going to the pain and agony of divorce. I thought about the law and grace so now whenever said why we need to beat them up.

No, no I don't.

I need to help him and I need to see him healed and in walking with the Lord. In any case your cynical year you probably been married 27 times.

That's what you say that now I am still on my first marriage. You still put up with me so let's read on 100 beat people up over that we may be just about some personal. Therefore, my brother, and you also become dead to the law. The body of Christ that you may be married to another to him was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God as a whole lot in these four verses red four verses real quick so he's talking about this marriage thing all is basically saying don't like you get to choose who you marry now. You don't really know who they are when you marry him because when you date somebody you're not really dating them your date like a caricature for something of that person, you, you don't get to know somebody why your date all realize that I me because really there there there they always they make sure the makeup is right there dresses right behaviors right languages right all those thing so that's not really then you don't even discover who the real them isn't to get married, and by marries a stranger that's a Jewish but you get to choose the American Paul standing on you to choose to marry you marry in the sense of law and grace.

You weird under the law are your under grace is not like you and say well I'm kinda married by some kind American law and kinda merited verse nine and you don't get now let let's go ahead and do something that Paul has dealt with this, but since so might be new or didn't work here for the who can keep the law anybody in here keep the law. If you are under the illusion that you either The law are can keep the law. Please check with somebody that cares about you and Ashton saved. Hey, I'm pretty much perfect right there in a say and not or if you know you don't have any friends you can call us or email us and will walk you through the process. The reality is, none of us can keep the law.

None of us has The law.

None of it if I said right now look what I need to do is I need you all to go out and be perfect. You may go. Yes, I'll try to do that but friend is not happen.

You can keep law and if you could keep the law. Jesus never would came, Jesus never would've died what would have to because you can keep the law and get to heaven earning your own way to heaven. But guess what that didn't work. As a matter fact, the law taught us our failures and showed us how sinful we are so you can't say well yeah that's the law I want to be saved by the law. We may want to be saved by the law, you can't be saved by the law can only be saved by grace in your ear under either one or the other.

None of the people below you can't tell people are not under the law is in no disco, no disco live crazy life and think they can do anything.

I don't think when you understand gracefully that you will do anything I don't think we understand grace and the incredible price Jesus paid for it, but then you'll think you're free to go do whatever it's called.

Theologically antinomianism that now were not under the law were under the gracefully do whatever I disagree with that teaching now were looking at these verses and when you study the Bible.

There's a couple things to keep in mind of your student of the Bible and you should be than you might want to write to step things are helpful in the passage someone figure out who is writing and then figure out who their writing to figure out why they are writing and/or what problem or problems they are dealing with these things will be very helpful to, as you read the Bible, figure out who is writing is pretty easy because the book starts out will talk about call a servant, a bondservant of Jesus Christ of whose writing will probably is he writing to well that's another fairly easy one. In this situation is the name of the book is Romans, so obviously he's writing those people in Philippi, so now know he's writing to the people in Rome. The book of the name of the book is Romans and has greatly got his writing and who the writing to why are they are.

He writing and what problem are they dealing with. Paul tells us. Paul tells us, not less.

Understand that setting a little bit Rome. There was a man, a Claudius who expelled all the Jewish people. There were some revolts going on in Judea and he decided that no Jewish people could be in Rome because he was afraid they would have a revolt and Spartacus hundred years plus before and revolted and then they were concerned about his alcohol just people happily rumbling. They excluded the Christians of Gentile Christians from so that Jews and Jewish Christians elite few years later they came back.

When they came back no now there's two factions. There's two people groups and bewilders the Gentile non-Jewish Christians.

And then there's the Jewish Christian and so there, having trouble getting along the Jewish Christians are saying we actually got to keep the law and the Gentiles is a knowing, go do whatever we want to and so together they found truth and so look at verse one we forgot what he was speaking to an and what probably do you not know brother Fred speak to those who know the law, so this chapter not necessarily his book. The book goes between the two and and Paul tells us, who, speaking to anyone time he says to those who know the loss of his he writing to the Jewish people so wisely writing to the Jewish people because they think they can be justified or saved to the keeping of the law and policy and none in no that's not its purpose. Its purpose is to show you that you need a Savior not the boss purpose isn't the same. But the show you need a Savior. So these pointless out here now is understand to that. You know, we were tempted to read this and go all silly Jewish people way they used to think that since her mom still think the only saved by works, scalable person is not hard about the Jewish people and let's review less the sum value because you understand we do the same thing we begin to think that we can be saved through work if you don't think this is a prevalent belief.

Go take an informal poll.

I'm wondering what you think. Chris what was different about a Christian. Most people say what they are a good person or like a better person and everybody doesn't define a Christian or semi might say what I think there's this really go to church or whatever. Another thing you can do is that to question task that part about what somebody in there going to heaven. Most everybody for Jim and then asking the second question, what he believed in that second question will say well yeah because I'm basically good person or go to church or this or that will give you all kinds on scriptural reasons why they think they're going to happen basically because of their good behavior basically because there keeping the wall.

The Bible talks about you cannot get heaven by keeping the law throughout the whole Bible, there is none righteous, no, not one Romans 310. Romans 323 for all fall short of the glory of God. You go back to the Hebrew Scriptures at others. None without sin is the first life wasn't here. We cannot go to heaven or earn salvation to the law.

It is only through God's grace.

Those things can be ours cannot go to heaven, nor in salvation through the law.

It is only through God's grace. Those things can be a you were listening to Pastor David McGee on cross the bridge will be back with more powerful insight from God's word in just a moment but first so many people today are losing faith simply because they don't know how much real evidence there is for the truth of the Bible. We want to help you strengthen your faith so that you can live the abundant life God has for you by sending you Pastor David's DVD message Romans from Rome. This insightful teaching recorded in the heart of the ancient city of Rome will help you see the book of Romans in its historical context, and confirm your faith in the truth of God's word Romans from home is our gift to thank you for your donation to help more people on this station and beyond cross the bridge from death to life's ago to cross the bridge.com to request your copy today.

Again that's crossed the bridge.com, this is Pastor David McGee was cross the bridge and want to thank you for listing the cross the bridge also want to tell you about an exciting website. The website is lost loved ones.org and it works very simply like this you go to the website you put the first names of up to 10 people that we begin praying that they get saved. That takes two things to get same presentation and prayer, and what were offering is prayer and also there's different tools there to help you present the gospel to them. So were there with you, helping you with the presentation helping you with the prayer. There's over 920 people that belong to the prayer team on lost loved ones and you can join the prayer team as well and help us to pray for others who don't yet know Jesus and together we can see a huge revival starting with your lost loved ones. Now back to today's teaching center thing God saves us the grace we come to him through great on our unmerited favor, God doesn't owe you forgiveness. He offers it, but I think I'm doing okay well you say me through grace sounded a live according to the law, all don't do that you will make it. You live according to the grace with which you were saved to polysemy. It's not about and can't be both.

That we we wanted to be both. Sometimes because we want to feel like we did something we are and oftentimes you we get saved in this like okay now that are earning sorry been given to you can set about earning something that's already been given to Paul says it's either or. Some of you want to mix secretly got through grace within you got to do this and you gotta do that and you gotta keep these rules, not rules.

Gotta cut here cut your hair quickly learn hearings quit UNESCO do not put it it it it it it it it it it it it. What we don't really listen were being legalistic. You need to understand there is an inherent danger in each and every person in the Bailey list that we usually are legalist for us were legalist brothers we look at other people go down. He had devotions this morning.

I'll look at her.

I bet you she did private jet to Fremont. We get judgmental we get legalistic and nothing will ensure a frustrated Christian life more than you start to be a legalist probably run into him all the time. You can tell by the scowl on her face, and their anger while because their failing and trying to earn God's favor, not realizing that through his grace he offers with okay well well I think it's a little about you can't see marriage. You cannot be married to Tuesday to two values things two things at once. That's illegal in most states in parts of North Carolina so I'm from here so I can say that you not from North Carolina. Carol is called bigamy to be married to two people want. That's illegal okay and if you're really messed of the polygamy is a three or more and that's you can't do that. You can't say what I think it's law and grace and it's either or.

I choose grace. I tried living under the law.

I didn't do so well me share something this Bible talks about the grace of God there was a long time that I kept trying to earn God's favor. We point out some of the settlement will go back to that point there something that I was in this passage for like hours and every time I teach a try to do three things. Try to give milk meet in the gospel your milk so I just got saved. I wanted to provide something for them to come to think about something to help them live. Second thing is me. In other words, if someone is walking the Lord a long time you know they can get some kind of deep spiritual truth all live in a EV mail. If you eat meat, you still need a little milk every now and then the gospel and every time here on Sunday morning. I want to be share that I share the gospel. I want to be sure that you summing the ring and friends, family, coworkers, and Cindy's people get same. I don't know you probably been the church is where you bring your friend and you think watch.Hope they share the gospel this morning I you know what you every Sunday morning milk mainly got this pressure maybe a little meaty, but let I'll just been a couple minutes but as I was reading I saw something I thought was bizarre back of her stick for the woman who has a husband is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law. So then, and while her husband live she marries another man. She will be called an adulterous. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law so that she is no adulterous though she is married another man. Okay fine so far is present in this marriage anything look of the husband dies, then you know the bride is is free to remarry and that's consistent with Scripture because were always presented at the church is in the feminine. Okay, the bride of Christ talks about the bride waiting for the coming of the groom refers to Christ as the groom when it talks about the mystery of marriage talks about Christ being the head that whole thing so were fines of Farmington and I love studying logic and the base of what pizza will reimburse for. Therefore, my brother, and you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ that you may be married to another to him what I was doing okay so we were the female in the mail was done but then he opens up verse 40 says, but you become dead when all this is getting illogical because if somebody dies they can't they can't get married you can't marry that person.

So is is is logic and the flow fallen apart. That's not it's not slick.

In verse four again therefore Moberly also become dead to the law through the body of Christ that you may be married to another to him who was raised from the dead Matthew? How does a bride who has died get married again. One way folks, she becomes alive again to the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. When you come to the Lord.

Part of you that in part of you becomes alive for the very first time. This is this is throughout Scripture. Jesus did certain things to give us a picture of something the EEC. Baptism is a picture Jesus was baptized. Okay.

Everything about that. Why was Jesus baptized to wash away a sense know he didn't have anything you can imagine being John the Baptist and this guy shows up in one ear revival meetings. The first thing that you you realizes that you know what this is. This is the Messiah is the machine to machine.

The coming priest coming King and then you go on. This is him and then he walked 70 say you needed a baptized Johnson baptize you. You should be baptizing me uses none in a minute were doing.

Why did he give us that model of baptism. It was for our model of baptism so that we can understand we should be baptizing.

Now the baptism also ties to the tomb and the resurrection. Jesus went to the tomb was then buried was resurrected three days later when you are baptize you go down if you will, into the watery gait rave of the water and then you come back up, resurrected in the newness of life the way that you can walk in grace is not to the law and live for grace in that resurrection power and that's not to get excited.

The Bible says that the same resurrection power that brought Jesus out that is available for you right now today this morning so what was it your start doing that you can do with the resurrection power available to back to this law gracefully have been in situations where people were trying to marry the two and it didn't work perfect as a young Christian I was, I was very much a performance oriented Christian. Here's what I mean when I did well when I read my Bible. So many hours or so along each day and prayed so many so much time I thought God loves me.

Got happy with me that's pleased and then if I didn't go the full length of time and he is so sweet and mad at me right now.

I live my Christian life like a yo-yo.

The bad thing was I was in a situation with other believers that were there were yo-yos to and I went to this one got a CLI I'm struggling with something someone said I'm struggling with my sin nature because you part of me wants to do good. No Roman seven than what we get to at the end of this chapter. I do know Paul had that same struggle and conflict on the struggle of sin nature and I want to do what's right sometimes and what's wrong and in and in you and you I think you need to revisit your salvation, so we me is what the Bible says all things become new, severe, still struggling with your sin nature. You may have not been morning. I was crushed. Not morning said the prayer what it said to do and apparently I'm not saying them not born again. What was worse is some Calvinistic brothers are you know it was able know you know some are predestined to go to hell when you can't do anything about it. I'm not all about saying something that I can't get same amount getting bad and maybe trying to be married to the law was meant to be married to wall meant to be married to grace can't live under the law. That's why Jesus came so many still trying to live under the law. Lords can set you free today verse five says for when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which are aroused by the law were working our members to bear fruit to death. Another words before before we knew the Lord of your end here and you've asked the Lord to forgive you. You been born again. You said that prayer on Sunday morning. We believe that the Bible teaches that an something changes really a lot of things change out understand what the moment you come to the Lord and ask him to forgive your sins. He doesn't like away all your sin, you still have that struggle of spirit against flesh ring to be talking about that as we continue to the book of Romans. But when you you you come immediately. Something is a change your you're not.

You're not the same.

Some of you commented that you and talking old friends that you go back and assume different about noticing these changes because something is different that instant, and other changes from they begin to take a little bit longer friend. You know for sure that your sins have been forgiven.

You can know right now only Legion a short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him.

God wants you to pray this prayer so much that he died to give you the opportunity and the ability to ask him to forgive you. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I can have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry.

Please forgive me of all those things. Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible. You've been forgiven you've been born again, so congratulations for you just made the greatest decision that you will ever make.
