Jesus have a plan for the self-report of called the inner Pharisee that religious prideful self center part of his plan friend and is not to heal the inner Pharisee is allowed to be crucified. Why does he want to do that to your little inner Pharisee because he wants to kill it before he kills you welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee when it comes to walking with Jesus. We can live an incredible and blessed life in Christ for a miserable life and us went out how you can choose today's investigation continues in Romans have you not read your escape door in Romans chapter 6 verse three or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized in Christ Jesus were baptized into his death. Therefore, we were buried with him was versions H is speaking to Jesus before we were buried with him through baptism into death, and just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Verse five. For we had been united together in the likeness of his death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of his resurrection and resurrection power. The resurrection power, we shall be in the likeness of his resurrection… What's is talking about. Upon another place goes on. Explain Philippians chapter 3 verse nine says and become one with him no longer count on my own goodness or my ability to obey God's law, but I trust Christ to save me, for God's way of making us write with himself depends on faith.

As a result. Verse 10 I can really know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I can learn what it means to suffer with them, sharing in his death a look at verse 11 so that somehow I can experience the resurrection from the dead. This is good stuff. This is awesome stuff. The resurrection power.

The same power that Jesus blasted out of the grave with absolutely, absolutely. The life lesson here is you can know God's resurrection power in your life today you can know God's resurrection power in your life today.

Today, not tomorrow, not actually you can know that resurrection power today. It's available to you today. You can choose not to walk in that power.

You can choose not to walk in the newness of life, but is available to and understand the choices really did break still breathing. You follow the way of the path to Christ and to life.

We follow the way of the path to sin and death. That's a tough when it shall follow Jesus to life or send the death so we have and what is talking about when he speaks about the death. He talks about the death and then the resurrection, the death and the resurrection is common interesting thing that some folks choose to work cross.

Some folks choose the were crucifixion and if you're listening and you have a crucifixion.

I really my intent is not to be you but I really have a problem with crucifixions and here's why. Is it still has Jesus on the cross, Jesus is not on the cross and the cross is empty. The tomb is empty. He has risen he has risen in the is alive forever more. So I think the empty cross is more appropriate for appropriate which different. Here's an there's a lot of symbolism going on here. It's interesting because a lot of Christians live a life of what I would call tweeters there tweeters. Here's what I mean they live between two things. They live between Egypt and the promise land they live in the desert if you will. They're not in Egypt. They've left Egypt, but they've not gone to the promised land. Why because they have and embrace these promises of God. They haven't embrace this newness of life. This abundance of life living in a very frustrated place there tweeters there, living between the crucifixion or the death of Jesus and the resurrection of Jesus. They've yet to experience the resurrection power of Jesus friend of that describes you, you can know his resurrection power today because that's a frustrating place to live between the crucifixion between the resurrection. Imagine what the disciples lives were like. At that point were sad they were heartbroken. Their leader been murdered, and even though it promise that he would be resurrected. They were really unsure of to the point that when the ladies come in.

They say the tomb is empty. That they really don't believe it. You're talking nonsense, Peter and John had to go see for themselves in an interesting exchange. There like it in the Gospel of John is getting John and Peter Kent had nothing going on and little little healthy competition. The Bible does record this at all know this.

It tells us that, for instance, when they're in the garden and somebody cut off the ear of this Temple guard. How do we know who Matthew doesn't tell us who it was.

Mark doesn't tell us who it was the gospel of Luke doesn't tell us who it was. But the gospel of John says it was Peter knowing that when they go to the tomb on this occasion, John assured a record for us in the gospel of John that they ran to the tomb and John read on ahead. So in this little foot race. John is let us know he beat Peter actually tells us couple verses later I got there first I didn't believe that we can sit here listening go silly silly disciples. How can they not believe in the resurrection Jesus he standing was to be resurrected. He told the story this Temple talk about his body and LB raised three days waiting in front season look back on the disciples and say all silly silly boys didn't believe in the power. Resurrection. But how many listen right now are not walking in the power. Resurrection right now in their life, aren't you doubting the power of the resurrection is him talking about having power over sinners and are going I'm not sure I have power versus the Bible says you have power risen in the Bible says you have powers that you have power percent the same resurrection power that brought Jesus out of that cold clammy dark to can bring you out of the cold, clammy, dark life bring you to the sun lights of Jesus SON's where you live in now live in crucifixion. We we got to come across friend. That's where were born again and then Jesus is okay you you celebrated my death of you will have died for your sins now wanted to live for me what you walk in this newness of life.

I want to walk in this power of the resurrection know the power of the resurrection today.

Now let's return to pastor David's verse by verse teaching in the book of Romans verse six is knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin want you to notice something in verse six. Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him reason I'm saying this is in the King James the that they going back to the Greek. It tenses not appropriate to the context, because in the kingdom. This is our old man knowing this letter old man is crucified with ongoing action that works but was crucified is more appropriate. He was crucified. The old life was crucified letting go, let it die. Don't cling to a nonprofit. The old man old man is like my dad, my dad let old man let my father was your old nature. Your old life or send for selfish self which everyone I was house. Everyone is a fallen nature that sinful selfish self and Jesus is like, you know, when I got a plan that you get a doctor that said you can live for him. Jesus has a plan for that selfish part of caught the inner Pharisee that religious prideful self centered part of you. Jesus has a plan friend and is not to heal the inner Pharisee allowed to be crucified. Why does he want to do that to your little inner Pharisee because he wants to kill it before it kills you, because that inner Pharisee will drive you away from God to you can be free from that you can be free from self. He can be friends free from sin. He can be free from death be free from all these things, free from committing sin look at this again. How does verse six start out knowing this, not thinking this or hey I heard this knowing that how you know that you know God's will you jump in the God's word.

You do it God's word tells you to do and so he saying you know who should you or your servant servant sin your slave to sin are you serving God you serve the body of sin might be done away with.

Done away with. Do away with them done away with.

Rubdown often put 6 feet under put out of business, rendered powerless Jesus. Jesus has a contract out on your sin.

Life Each what you did not crucifixion a very painful death.

It's a very slow death is where fact the way that it happens is really horrible. What happens is they pin their hands or nail your hands by your rest to the cross, he would usually double over your feet put a nail through both feet at the same time they think will.

How does that tell you is it bleeding to death or not.

Usually so in the case of Jesus. They usually would just crucify some case of Jesus. They beat him with a whip now usually when we think of a web we think of a you know a bullwhip or all whether all leather whip. It wasn't one of those back in Roman times the whip would've been invented with pieces of bone steel stone embedded to the pieces of leather and then when somebody was beaten they would take the with and they would whip it and it would stick to the back then they would jerk it back and that was where the real damages is literally the skin was pulled away, sometimes vital organs exposed.

I'm not telling us the grocery.

I'm trying to explain to you what Jesus did for Jesus went to all that before he ever went to the cross.

When a person was on the cross. It wasn't by usually bleeding but what happened is under the stress and strain the pericardium and area around the heart and begin to fill with fluid pressuring the heart pressuring long what you would need to do is you would have to as this fluid began to accumulate. You have to push yourself up to get a breath and remember you're pushing yourself up on feet that had a nail through it would push yourself up and get a breath Sing back down until you were desperate for another breath and you push yourself out and get a breath sing back down and after long. No longer have the power.

Push yourself up.

That's why a friend when they wanted to hasten or quicken the death of Jesus. They should break his legs Watkins with broken legs. He could no longer push himself up to get a breath of an interesting moment in time because the Bible in Exodus 12.

In talking about the Passover lamb gave instructions about the Passover lamb and said not a bone of the Passover lamb was to be broken.

The Passover lamb was a symbol of Jesus and so Caesar or Pilate gives this command that the legs of Jesus be broken to the Roman soldiers. The Roman soldiers go and they broke the legs of the two thieves on either side. But when they came to Jesus and so I was already dead and he didn't break his legs were friendly. They should've broken his legs because actually to disregard an order of pilot could've ended in their execution. In these Gentile Roman soldiers that knew nothing of Hebrew prophecy fulfilled it to the letter but not breaking legs of Jesus even more.

They pierce them again another fulfillment of Scripture out of him flow blood and water.

The water to accumulated the pericardium that area around the heart.

Again, fulfillment of Scripture crucifixion was not happenstance thing.

The plan of God fulfilling so many distinct prophecies.

Look at verse seven for he who is not has been freed from sin. If you've God to set if you've allowed your old self sin nature to be crucified with Jesus and even set free and even set free your free indeed. Sin can always be reawakened in in this earthly body. There's always that part of our body in their mind they get going and we can lead ourselves in the set.

We can be doing great in all something.

Something entices us over eating food or drinking, smoking, or smoking dope or shoe window pornography all the sick, but we have to allow that to have power over we have the power of the Holy Spirit. If you know Jesus you have the power to say no to set friend.

If you're listening and you don't know Jesus, you really don't have power percent is not about a 12 step program. It's about going to the cross and reckoning yourself that to these things in life to him. Imagine being shut up in a dungeon for years and somebody comes behind and unlocks the door and opens it. What you can do your friend appreciate you opening the door, but I think I'm just going to hear I was going to sit myself because it is so it's kind of uncomfortable like I like it that door opens for nearly bolting out that door.

Jesus is open the door.

Why do you want to still sit there so why do you want to live.

The old life. Why do you want to be in bondage number years ago heard a story explains a lot. This guy was a Christian. He was a believer in his own his way to an incredible buffet incredible buffet around the holidays. This was not just some normal buffet. This was this was the megabucks say piles in the fresh-baked breads, ice sculptures with colored lights on shift stations around the room carving up turkeys and roast beef and nice nice hotel is he's on his way to this place he wants Pine Valley news ligand allowing he sees this guy and this man is big into the dumpster start signs looks at the man he thinks for God to answer for something to eat and I'm on the way to this lavish buffet note amended to goes back to the dumpster, walks down the alley speaks the gases. Hey hey man 20% discount start what what what what were you doing in a dumpster very hungry. We homered, I'd like to make an offer. I like to take you to this incredible buffet can be marvelous all kinds of carved meats, fresh breads and I'll pay for you. We go this is okay I guess so. So he takes his newfound friendly watching of this incredible buffet ice sculptures in the carving stations and always think he steps back and look as new friend in the select the new friend looks at him and says hey you got any dumpsters around here to the guy was trying to bless and in the guy want to back go back to the old way to the old life from so many of us do that we want to go back to the old ways, to the old like when I keep trying the stuff that never worked before. We want to try to find satisfaction and stuff and things materials that never gave a satisfaction before and never will. We want to go back to the old ways. There's a drawl there's a pool but you need the data that and began to live in the blessings of God and look at the lavish buffet of life, he set before you, the abundant life the joyful life. The blessed life. The love life. The full life that life doesn't happen out the dumpster doesn't happen in the old life, and you may be saved. Listen to this and you've been forgiven before and you live in between the crucifixion and the resurrection is time for you to live in the resurrection. It's time for you live in that power to be freed completely. First Corinthians is this verse 15. When this happens when a person of earthly bodies been transformed in the heavenly bodies that will never die.

Then, at last, the Scriptures will come true, the complete fulfillment of the promise be a major death is swallowed up in victory over death, where is your vitriol death, where is your sting percent is the thing that results in death and the longest sentence about how we think God gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord. We paraphrase Jesus died on that cross and he said death is that all you got, you can't hold me down.

You can't hold me back. You can't keep me from fulfilling my destiny and what I'm here to do sin does not have the power to keep you from fulfilling your God ordained God called destiny, unless you choose to allow don't do that if you here today and I'm talking about victory over sin and power were Sen. listening and you're going I don't understand I don't have power over set when you can have the Lord wants to give it to, but it's a choice come to Jesus right now, today, mainly listening and in the same thing.

Likewise, I found my self powerless over set friend. You are powerless over sin until you know Jesus Christ, and not only does he forgive you, but then he gives you the power to make a decision leaves a decision up to you but it gives you the power to choose him and not the choose sin which we choose right now you have the opportunity to choose Jesus choose life just blessings or to said choose death. Choose persons see from the moment you were born. The first time he began to analyze the just will not last baptized and that but you can be joined with Jesus.

And when you're born again, you begin to really live and you can live a life that will never end.

Friend, you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now own Legion. A short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him.
