How shall we do have this and live. How can you keep doing this us old life missionary are well worth the joy very frustrated. Are you continuing to live in that living for the Lord your whole loan of that old life abundant life is a blessed life, a loving wife and joyful full life. Welcome to cross the bridge with David McGee when it comes to walking with Jesus.

We can live an incredible and blessed life in Christ for a miserable life in us about how you can choose today's pastor David continues in Romans not read your statement during Romans chapter 6 verse one says what shall we say that Joey continuing sin, that grace may abound about Paul and in Romans chapter 5. If you've been with us. He is explaining how we get saved and what the problem is in this problem of sin in these things, so EEs is kinda changing gears here because he's been talking about salvation is of Grayson and he says okay so if salvation is of grace, then why don't we just go do whatever we want. Why don't we just sit as much as we walking certainly some folks think like that and some people who under the cloak or whatever of the blanket of eternal security.

So will you know I'm saved I can go do what ever I want to now, but that's really missing the point. When you truly understand grace understand how the gracious purchased in sin and Jesus died for your sin, they were placed upon. So from a theological sense, every time we mess up. There's another scent placed upon them.

If you will, and was understand there's there's got to extremes are. There's legalism and there's license there's legalism which basically says you have to earn your salvation you have to do right to keep it. And certainly that's not a biblical truth that the Bible presents and then there's license which is a you know were saved by grace was just go do whatever want to theological term. There's antinomianism in both of those extremes are wrong to the Bible is really a book of balance when you get in these extremes you know of legalism or license both of those are positively talking about that now.

Romans chapter 6 verse one in the amplified says this, what shall we say to all this, are we to remain in sin, in order that God's grace or favor and mercy may multiply and overflow obvious answer to this is absolutely not absolutely not. Paul answers the question of her students are certainly not God forbid if you're in the King James and may never be a think is what a number. Another version says certainly not, how shall we dine the sin, live any longer and it is meaty theological stuff here and in the book of Romans whether you just got St. consider getting saved up and say for 30 years.

This is great stuff to give grace is true, then, can we just do whatever we want. While that's the right data, but the wrong conclusion. Now grace is there and we are saved by grace and forgiven by grace but again of it. Grace is true and we know it is and we understand it, it leads us to love God and begin to hate sin, the sin that separates us from God.

The sin that was cast upon in the sin that literally killed and understand you were talking about life. We talked about women. It's one thing to have eternal life by faith God gives it to us in a moment that we call justification will talk more about that a few minutes with this justification thing but it's another thing to begin to live the abundant life through faith is one thing to have eternal life by faith is another thing to live the abundant life through faith. Now what we have to do is we go from this one place of accepting eternal life by faith to begin living the abundant life through faith, and particularly the sound. Chapter 6 the way we live in freedom and power over sin and this is important stuff. When you begin to understand that you know it's not just content to live in Christ, but to begin.

Understand that Christ is living his life in you and through you, that you begin to exercise this power over sin and begin the stop doing the things that that you used to do and understand the focus in this chapter is not on sin talked about some awful lot, but understand from when you focus on your sin and your problems, your sending your problem begin to get bigger is not the answer. A lot of people focus on the problem focused on the sin and that doesn't make it any better makes it worse because the focusing is the feed on itself focus on Jesus and that's what this chapter is doing focus on Jesus and watch these things start to disappear and get smaller. In the rearview mirror is your headed towards Jesus, but of your headed towards those things in your focus is almost think you keep live in a struggle in life we want to see in this chapter how we live this abundant life. Last lot of people they come with Gordon and the like will understand the abundant life is designed that's God's design. That's his desire for you are like wow I'm a Christian I'm not really seen that abundant life. Well understand you as a believer have a choice.

You been forgiven of your sins, but now are you going to live percent regularly for God CV live for God.

You have that abundant life. If you live percent have that defeated life uniting not only not have the joy which are to be miserable, going between the two, 1 foot in the world.

1 foot in Jesus, God desires that you would have the joy, the power live in a surrendered life. The abundant life begins when you start understand that you need to surrender to God. How shall we do have to send live.

How can you keep doing this us the old life babysitting a while. I where's the joy I'm very frustrated. What are you continuing to live in sin that live in for the Lord.

We hold onto that old life abundant life is a blessed life, a loving wife and joyful life for life. I don't know anybody listening that that doesn't appeal to a loving like a joyful life. A blessed life serving life or giving life loving life a full life that sounds good to you less understand from this passage of how we engage in this first life lesson here is we can live an incredible and blessed life in Christ are a miserable one in us, we can limit incredible and blessed life in Christ or a miserable life in us. The Bible encourages us to love God and love people.

What I found is that if there is kind of a scale that you live. God is much as you hate sin if you don't hate sin, then you probably don't love God sees you love God you begin to hate you said what because it's a sin that crucified many pain for the crushed him on the cross begin us through that all we say that we love God we don't hate sin, there's a problem from we should be.

We talked about this before you know were awfully bothered by the sins of other people. We don't seem to be that bothered by our we need to reverse.

We need to be more bothered by our sin, not condemn, convicted or explain a second, we need to be more bothered by our sins and less bothered by other people sense triggers conviction and condemnation conviction when you mess up when you send you go wanting to ask God to forgive us. Can't wait to go to church condemnations like wow I'm so beat up a mess up. Anyway, I really don't want to go to church. Condemnations drive you away from God.

Conviction pulls you to God's understand really talk about sin and its power over us are God's power over us understand that there is within man.

I believe there is this three part Trinity of you will within man in the sense of their spirit, soul and body in the garden before the fall spirit came first and then the so and then the body and what happened when Adam fell, is that those roles got reversed and after the fall it became body soul spirit. In other words, and as we all fell in the sand, then the body was making all the decisions.

Really, if you will.

It was, the driving force now after your morning and guess what reverts back just like it was in the garden spirit is top dog we should be spirit led spirit driven by the Holy Spirit within the soul. And then the body. Thank you for listening to cross the bridge with David McGee will return to David's teaching in just a moment the tragedy in Benghazi. Now let's return to pastor David's verse by verse teaching in the book of Romans verse three or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized in Christ Jesus were baptized into his death is interesting to me. Several of these do you not know her knowing this kind of thing. Do you not know. Do you not know you somehow are expected to know these things were supposed to know these understand why Christians a lot of believers a they hack like knowing the Bible is an option/factors teachers out there supposedly Christian Bible teachers able to the bottles no longer really relevant doesn't really speak to the issues of today. One popular teacher said the time for expositional teaching is long past. I have to strongly disagree. The reason is the things that Paul was doing well still billing with these issues of life and death and sin in spirit and so we need to get to know our bobbles because when you get to know the Bible you get to know the offer God has expressed himself in this book very explicitly and so we need to be aware of the Bible. We need to be reading the Bible, not friend of year here or if you're listening and you really don't know a lot about the Bible well first of all understand that.

Sadly enough, many platforms, many pulpits today don't really teach the Bible they grab a verse here in verse there that's called a topical teaching and they teach like that were what we do here is expositional teaching were going through the help you to understand the Bible to be your partner explained on the bottom and so this will help Knutson know and so then when pulses do you not know you and say all I got to Paul. I know this read this passage of studied it with pastor Damon and apparently Jesus also had an expectation that people would know the Bible look at these cross-references are Matthew chapter 12 verse three, but he's speaking to Jesus, but he said to them, have you not read what David did when he was hungry.

He and those who were with Matthew 12 five of those have you not read in the law than on the Sabbath the priest and temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless. Matthew chapter 19 verse four. Again Jesus and he answered and said to them, have you not read that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female.

Matthew 2231 36 concerning the resurrection of that again Jesus speaking. Have you not read what was spoken to you by God thing on the God of Abraham got about God of Jacob. God is not the God of that bulimic four times. Jesus said, have you not read. There was an expectation Jesus. God had towards people that they would read the book.

Apparently Jesus expected them to know the Bible.

Also, there is an expectation that there were doing about will talk about that later. It's interesting that they sell little expositional teaching goes on when the best things I can do for you in order to bless you is to give you a love for the word of God and to impart that to and teach you and walk you through this. Bob, because you simply cannot read the Bible with an open heart, being open to God's spirit, and it not change your life, this Bible has changed so many lives, even in this place.

I want to be your partner tell you I will walk you through the word, so that brings us to this life lesson. Knowing the Bible is one of the keys to doing about knowing the Bible is one of the keys to doing the Bob a lot of times Christianity we we think will you Christianity is about no no no it's not. It's more about no no no, the Bible, because as you know the Bible list trickle-down things starts to happen during that with an open mind and with God's spirit and understand God wants to communicate this word to you once you help you, according to the gospel John Summit asked for the spirit to come and help in rebuilding the Holy Spirit will come and not only that had knowledge because we stop there friend. You're not really doing about but if you really know in the Bible begins trickle-down to your heart and you start to live the stuff out.

Bible study should leave the bottle doing now. The first time you were born you were really baptized into Adam, if you were baptized in attics part of the last chapter spoke about that you baptize really into the way of sin and death. The moment you were born the first you started diet day by day as you come to know Jesus you're saving your born-again and then your baptized. Don't believe in baptismal regeneration is the state that you're saved by baptism are saved by grace and by faith and you should be baptized will talk more about that moment, but see when you were born again and baptized in the Jesus will friend that's the day you really started live your first birth is when you really started diet second workmen born-again is when you really started live in in the beginning when you were baptizing Adam that you started diet and started living a life that will never last. Not for any of us from your born-again toes in the Jesus is when you really started live in, and he began living a life that will never end. Awesome stuff.

Verse four. Therefore, we were buried with him was versions H is speaking of Jesus before we were buried with him through baptism into death, and just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life is great stuff. Old life, new life.

Baptism was really doing was only male old life. How do we become stronger in the new life. Well, imagine if you will have two dogs in front of one of the old life. One is the new life. How do you feed the dog, the new life well going to church is feeding the sweetness.read your Bob screen that devotions feeding that dog studying the Bible thing that dog fellowship and with other believers seen that no what happens after you feed this dog that old life begins the dolphin started. The thing is, a lot of us feed the old life we watch maybe movies or shows on will be legalistic but you want to stuff the feeds and those line revisiting websites feed into the old life, having conversations feed to the line having friendships that feed into the old life in the old life begins to be strong. New life begins to starve to death as we fall out of fellowship.

No read our Bibles don't pray were not in devotions, we don't have personal devotions were not fellowship with other believers seen that old life in the new life against the stark difference, feed the new life. Feed the new man. The new one. Second Corinthians 517 awesome awesome. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he's in the creation old things are passed away behold all things have become new stuff is gone. Letting go friend don't keep cleaning that don't keep reminding yourself of that. One of the interesting phrases that the enemy the adversary reversal. Satan is very real being is labeled the accuser of the brethren. He always seems to be coming up and reminding us of our past. You can't be worshiping God you did this you can't be singing praises you did we can be serving God used to be like this try this strategy next the enemy comes and remind you of your past. Remind him of his future book of Revelation doesn't end up so well for goes well for us to understand when it comes to live in forgot God gives us the motive which is love, God gives us the power which is the spirit God gives us the knowledge which is his word and God gives us the grace to follow him and live a new life.

This is an incredible exchange of happens and again it says that were baptized into death. The word here is that teasing it literally means immersion. I know some people sprinkle one.

You know it. If the person comes to a belief in Jesus before their baptized. I believe in baptizing by immersion. Okay, but some people baptize infants in and we don't practice that we practice what we call believers baptism to be honest, I was sprinkled as an but I had not yet made a decision for Jesus. I had not decided I would be identified with Jesus and buried with understand. We talk about baptism by immersion literally baptism. It means immersion to be immersed in.

And of course we see that Jesus came out of the water.

Matthew chapter 3 verse expenses after his baptism as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on so Jesus came up out of the water. What we know what he came up out of the water. Guess what must've been in the water, you can't come out of something you're not in the came up out of the water is identified with burial Matthew question. When we bury somebody do we leave him above the ground. Sprinkle a little bit of dirt on no and if some funerals I've done the loved ones play some lift dirt with the loved one is underground.

So this picture variables underground. Keep in mind that baptism is a it is a symbol it's not necessary for salvation, but if you believe in Jesus you've asked him to forgive you. Percent you should be baptized. Imagine well I'm married. This is the screen here is a symbol of my marriage to my wife and I said okay honey on work were married but you know I really am not in the symbols someone and take this off and going out tonight will be God's reluctant well.

My wife is to say I'm a little uncomfortable with you not being into symbols because this symbol represents the relationship well from the baptism is a symbol that represents the relationship have a real problem of salacious Jesus, thank you for dying for me to accept your forgiveness for my sins and your Lord and Savior of my life but I'm not don't listen anything you say about being baptized for no don't do it so speaking of being baptized into his death. Still sin.

What's up with that.

Imagine if you've ever seen any others old horror movies. They had this little thing called a zombie zombie wasn't really a lot the walking dead. They call the really blue part and the zombies are walking around even though there dead they were dead to sin whenever you send. Guess what, you're kind of being a zombie. You really want to do really well look like a zombie or you can walk in the newness of life and freedom from listing what you want to be a zombie walk in newness of life answers easy will walk in newness of life misunderstands them these terms and we talk about these before. Let's talk about him again three terms of salvation, of you are important because a couple of them are mentioned.

Actually all three were mentioned in the book of Romans.

Number one is being justified.

That's just as if I never did it is both an accounting and a legal term was saved. The moment I came to Jesus and ask him to forgive me. He forgave me. I was saved this date.

This time I was sick. This today and you don't yet know Jesus as your Savior will give you the opportunity for the day was that it is not an and if you listen you have that opportunity as well and and it'll be done.

So, being justified is not being sanctified. Another term of salvation is being set apart, set apart for special use of you being sanctified is in us. We are being sanctified, is an ongoing work will continue until were glorified. Glorified is when we get the new body that is I will be saying to be justified as an act being sanctified is a work in glorified problems is a promise, friend. You know for sure that your sins have been forgiven. You can know right now own Legion.

A short simple prayer simply telling God you're sorry and asking him to help you to live for him. Please pray this prayer with me out loud right now. Dear Jesus, I believe you died for me that I could be forgiven and I believe you were raised from the dead that I could have a new life not done wrong things I have sent and I'm sorry. Please forgive me of all those things.

Please give me the power to live for you. All of my days in Jesus name, amen friend of you prayed that prayer according to the Bible you've been forgiven you've been born again. So congratulations you just made the greatest decision that you will ever make. God bless you if this was your first time praying that prayer with Pastor David we would love to hear from you.
