Isaiah-The Prince of Vision (Part C)

We name our children after people in the Bible. This is Luke. This is David this is Isaiah this is Jeremiah as we want that we want to encapsulate our witness through our children.

The name part is the easiest part. But the first child and told in Isaiah chapter 7 verse three is Shira Josh why don't you parents name is Whitney. In other words, God's going to take care of his own is not going to take care of those who did not qualify to be in the remnant is going to take care of those who are his. We know that Isaiah was a historiography historian who wasn't solely into the history but he he documented things about certain people into history. His illustrations painted vivid pictures of God's judgment as well as God's peace but will take God's judgment. In Isaiah chapter 66 Isaiah 66 last two verses of the book versus 23 and 24 and it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before me, says the Lord, and they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of the men with trans get rest against me, for their worm does not die and their fire is not quenched, they shall be and and of Horan's to all flesh is kind of a glory picture but is telling people about God's judgment that does nothing clean about this is nothing appealing about the judgment of God. There is everything that is to appeal to us about avoiding the judgment of God. And so that was the man, but the times of the man.

As I mentioned, he lived during the Assyrian Empire. They were a vicious group. They had become a vicious army. They took pleasure in torturing those who they took captive in war.

They were a fierce people who were known to skin their opponents alive. So of course if you had the Assyrian army coming against you as they did against Jerusalem you had something to be troubled about. And yet this man.

Isaiah remain firm in this Fae in his faith in the face of a very serious threat. I find that difficult sometimes when it when there's a very serious threat. I have to try to remind myself to not respond to this emotionally, but how do you turn it off and even though I don't feel like I succeed. Sometimes I do succeed at this, I keep crying in the midst of whatever I'm going through and whatever I'm going through and of God is right, he is faithful.

I know what my role is supposed to be and whether I achieve it or not it is the pursuit of obedience that God highly honors also and is on my behalf to my benefit. He anticipated the downfall of the inferior Assyrian Empire. Any announcer that would be the Chaldean Medo Persian Empire that would come in their place that was prophetic that has been fulfilled among the major prophets.

He was part of excellence.

He exhibits a vocabulary in his writings, considerably larger than Jeremiah and Ezekiel masterful writer.

I believe many of his messages were were first spoken or subsequently spoken, and therefore I believe it was a skilled orator. He knew how to speak to people to make his point to win converts the proof that he one converts is that Israel survived the Assyrians. That's no slight on Jeremiah.

Jeremiah came to pronounce the doom and the blameless blamelessness of God in the midst of the doom's expressions of found its way into the speech of people never use his book never read his book there people at cool things from Isaiah don't even know it's from Isaiah sarcasm and irony tools that he used used very skillfully will take one of them. Isaiah 6 again Isaiah 6 verse 10 make the heart of this people dull in their years having to shut their eyes lest they see with their eyes and hear what the years and understand with their heart, and return and be healed sarcasm unknown. Whatever you do don't repent. Go to hell. Whatever you do don't respond to the revelation of God, walked on into hell.

That's the idea behind that message got the sink. I want you to be safe you don't want my salvation.

The consequence of that is internal judgment.

God talks about this through Isaiah in chapter 5 he uses this metaphor of Israel being God's vineyard and God being the owner of the vineyard and God says that's what more could have been done to my vineyard that I have not done in it.

Why, then, when I expected to bring forth good grades did bring forth wild grapes. Why did it fail when I did everything I was supposed to do God speaking through a prophet. The prophet Isaiah. No come back, existed for that. The earnestness in his words, the boldness to spirituality in his word that was correct. In the latter chapters wellness in the 40s but I don't want to get sidetracked here, but here's his message. If God is not allowed to rule, he will overrule. It is our message to dawdle in the midst of his overrule, allow the center enough rope.

I remember years ago and the steel business. There was one particular company that gave the welders. In particular, very long safety line. It was like 14 feet so they could tie off to be safe and and they could move around more freely and you know if you're one of the high-rise unit 3050 feet of stories up in the air you fall 14 foot rope is nice but you hope it holds when it snaps, but there was one story that I know very well about of a guy who fell with one of those from a 12 foot being 12 so is safety line works fine on impact. God gives enough rope to the center if he's not smart enough to do the math is going to have an impact that he that he thought he was safe from is that not the world you think you little survive. LOL you know Kevin doesn't want man had owed the freedom to take over and you are little sarcasm here it's moronic it. It is moronic it is. It is the epitome of folly to to even think such a thing, and yet they postseason our stickers on their cause and strut around the universe as though it were the gospel.

Satan wants people to think that they can win a fight with him. He hates so much. You'll do anything to destroy our eternal state and so this was the message of the of Isaiah. If God is not allowed to rule, he will overrule Pastor Farrell as Cayman asked those people in the Scripture who challenged God. Another something that I didn't mention about John the Baptist last Wednesday that I found a way to cleanly put or inserted into tonight's message. John the Baptist had the manners and the authority of Elijah but his message and his burden was that of Isaiah's. He was the voice in the wilderness as Adventist is a huge thing for John the Baptist to be so interlocked with two of the greatest men description on that's a long list of greatest man in Scripture, but these are certainly two of them, Isaiah and Elijah to be associated with one of them is an honor, but to have two of them is a special honor. He preached judgment, but he said he preached salvation. John preached he call them Vipers when they were he'd spoke about the judgment to come, and he also said repent for it is the way back to God is the way to be right with God. And so in spite of all adverse circumstances here is this prophet Isaiah who face the future with hope everything he did the whole time that he was prophet. He didn't know how the kings were going to handle things if they were going to forsake God.

So many of the people around him were doing at some of the kings of the day, as was one of them. When the Assyrians came.

He knew this was God saying I am about ready to judge all of you and in the face of all of this he faced it with hope in God. That's what I want to do vision creates a passion, then the passion becomes the mission.

The mission becomes the servant becomes you. You become whatever you are. If you are devoted to people think of whatever it is that you doing for the Lord, they think of you.

They put your face on it.

That is an accomplishment.

What you think about some of the saints of the past, all in the Scripture what you think about Ruth, what you think about Jonathan, it becomes them that how they serve the Lord. You want people to to have that feeling about you also.

This is a man that knew and God spoke to him. Second Kings chapter 20 verse four and it happened before Isaiah had gone into the middle of the court that the word of the Lord came to him, saying, this is this is a beautiful picture. This is during the time of Hezekiah sickness Hezekiah has summoned Isaiah Isaiah's common Hezekiah is hoping that the prophet has has received good news from God on his behalf and Isaiah says you're going to die and he leads and when he gets to the court. God speaks to Isaiah and says go back to Hezekiah. I will prolong his life. How do you do that it's miraculous is God doing what God does.

The message of the Messiah, peace and justice. Isaiah chapter 40 through 66. That was the dominant theme peace and justice and he drove home. These principles of our salvation that we better understand because of Christ's substitutionary atonement in the kingdom and the resurrection. The birth and the pedigree of Christ are given to us in Isaiah 9 the earthly ministry of Christ is given to us in Isaiah 11 verses one through three other places to them just highlighting some of the cross and the resurrection. Isaiah 53 verses five through nine in verses in verse 11 that the cross and the resurrection. Throughout all of Isaiah 53, one of the most beautiful chapters in all the Bible, the rule and the return of Christ for example one place.

Isaiah 11 verse four the importance of all of his writings to the Christian today is extreme.

This is why he is such a dominant Old Testament figure in the New Testament the future temple which will attract Gentiles Isaiah 2 verses to them for the glorious branch which speaks of the Messiah. Jeremiah also spoke of the branch the glorious branch Isaiah for verses two through six. The virgin birth and Emmanuelle God is with us. Isaiah 7 the morning of a new day in the birth of this child.

Isaiah 9 the shoot of the stem of Jesse, Isaiah 11. The conversion of Gentiles. That alone puts him in another category. Isaiah 19 new Jerusalem.

Isaiah 54 nine 213 and 60 verses 19 and 20 or 19 to 22. The marriage supper of the Lamb. Isaiah 25 63 and 2619 the ministry of Messiah. Isaiah 42 four the sermon as a light to the Gentiles. Again he brings up the Gentiles.

Isaiah 49 verses 1 to 13. The willing obedience of the servant. Isaiah 50 verses four through 11.

The redemption achieved by the servant.

Isaiah 52 verses 13 and Isaiah 53 verse 12. The promises made to David to be fulfilled, which always is linked directly to Jesus. Isaiah 55 verses one through five converted heathens to become leaders in worship.

Isaiah 66 verses 19 to 23.

All of these things are radical. All of these things are ongoing in the church to this day all of this can be examined and we can see it.

While I want to disclose with this, according to tradition Isaiah was martyred early in the reign of Manasseh, one of the worst kings of the southern kingdom. Legend says that Manasseh sought him into that legend is linked to Hebrews 11 verses 3738. They were stoned, they were sworn into they were tempted, they were slain with the sword.

They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskin's being destitute, afflicted, tormented, of whom the world was not worthy executors of Elijah that is accurate or not worthy. And so what couple of statistics here that are critical to the man. Isaiah the Lord of host is used by him 62 times as the battle name of the Lord, and in most cases. In comparison, Jeremiah, is that 77 times.

Zechariah 53 times, and again it means the supreme commander to last things about this man. Isaiah is, he presents the Messiah as one who never holds out the slightest hope, anything but utter loss to the man who is persistent in their rejection of him. It doesn't say I don't worry about it. You can reject God and get away with it.

He keeps it in front of the individual, the individual, not the group. The individual you reject God, you will be rejected by God, so I'm closing this not only did Isaiah realize that God is a God of infinite holiness also saw him as in Rome.
