Indeed, the challenges greater so there are those of you who have gone the extra mile and help with an additional donation that I want to thank you, let you know that your support helps to get the message out about wave radio and Internet. Printed page.

All the ways that we are trying to get out. The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I encourage all of you to write another shoulder to listen to the program today. Our address is the Baptist Bible. Our box 17 old 37th Cincinnati, OH 45217 and in all and in will continue today with another of the messages from our series from the Gospel of John last week. As we continued our study in the Gospel of John we came to the glorious message concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Mary Magdalena gone to she was distressed to see that the body was not there. Assuming that someone cared away. She's acquiring of one that she assumes to be the gardener if he might know where the body has been laid. But then Jesus said under her Mary and she turned herself when he spoke her name to recognize we will makes us think of the words of Jesus in John chapter 10 my sheet hear my voice and know me and she said offended him Ramon. I which is to say master. So today we now look at verses 17 through 20. Jesus saith under her touch me not flam not yet ascended to my father but go to my brethren and say under them higher send unto my father and your father and to my God and your God, Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had spoken these things under her in the same day at evening, being the first day of the week when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews came Jesus and stood in the midst and save under them. Peace be unto you, and when he had so sad he showed under them his hands and his side.

Then where the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. First of all, we consider Jesus words to Mary. Many of them perplexed as to what is intended here.

When Jesus says to her touch me not because later in the chapter we find that he invited Thomas to touching that he might recognize the nail prints in his hand and thrust his hand into the place in his side where the spear had entered so the question is raised. Why was Mary told not to touching and Thomas was encouraged to do so is amazing when there's something that is a bit challenging the numerous ideas that can be advanced in trying to solve the matter, wearied you with going into all of the various theories that have been considered as what is meant, but the fact is in the original language. The thought is conveyed not just do not touch me but stop holding on to me.

Apparently she was so elated, so surprised that this man that she first thought was the gardener was actually Jesus risen from the dead, that she probably fell down at his feet and grab hold of his ankles, just like so elated and I just can't let him go pointing to disappear on the morning to be gone again. DA Carson and a few brief words I think summarizes better than I can myself so I'll just share with you what he said on this point. Jesus said I am not yet in the ascended state so you do not have to hang on to me as if I were about to disappear permanently. This is a time for joy in sharing the good news not for clutching me as if I were some jealously guarded dream come true.

Stop clinging to me but don't tell my disciples that I'm in the process of the sending to my father and your father." So she was not being treated differently being denied a privilege that was then given to Thomas. It was simply the point being made that was not necessary to clutching him to hang onto him to hold him as though she had to secure a communion and fellowship with him, he would, after 40 days visibly ascend back to heaven or those who believe that he made various trips during those 40 days that he went to heaven and back again. Whether that is true we can't confirm that we know that when his ascension was observed in the angel came and said why standing here gazing into heaven. This one that had gone away will in like manner, back at this point, Jesus is saying you don't have to try to hold on to me is going to be a few days yet, in which I'm going to be making appearances but also the fact is that she had become become acquainted with the reality that her interaction with Jesus would be different than it had been because after 40 days he would no longer be there in his body he would've gone back to heaven and she could have communion with him fellowship with you through prayer, but not on a personal basis of seeing him face-to-face as she had done during the years of his ministry. And Jesus says go to my brethren, previously he referred to his followers as servants or slaves, and on some occasion as friend but now this is something new that's being introduced go to my brethren, because the work of redemption was complete. He now calls them brethren. Romans chapter 8 verse 29 for whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. So God has a large family there. Many brethren in Jesus now is referring to these his disciples as being his brethren think about for the display of grace that is that we are born Reynolds born sinners alienated from God, not his friends certainly could not be considered is brothers now by grace this is what has transpired. Hebrews chapter 2 verse 11 for both key that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of one for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren. What a privilege to be called brother or sister by Jesus Christ having just defined us by his sacrifice at the cross were now adopted into his family is amazing Grace.

Indeed, to think that God would love fallen rebellious sinners. Amazing that he would give his son at Calvary's cross to die for them to redeem them that he would forgive their sins that he would transform them making them new creatures in Christ Jesus: all the riches of his grace are considered to think that there is yet something more is indeed amazing.

He not only pardons the guilty center. He not only cleanses him not only transforms him texting into his family, yet opposite Romans chapter 8 verse 14 for as many as are led to the spirit of God.

They are the sons of God, for he have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, father, my father, you receive the spirit of adoption. He didn't belong to his family by nature some advocate. The idea of the universal fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man as though we are all brothers, all members of the same family. Jesus said some during the days of his ministry he are of your father the devil, the idea that we are all part of the same family is clearly refuted in Scripture but those who were chosen by God and the covenant redeemed by Christ at the cross are brought into his family adopted made heirs and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Now distinction is made when he tells Mary go to buy disciples go to my brethren and say other than I ascend under my father and your father. He didn't say our father which would have put them on an absolute equal basis with him. There is still a distinction to be made Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God.

He is the God man, he is God in the flesh, but is able to say concerning these who are his redeemed people are his brethren.

I ascend unto my father and your father. My God and your God so love the distinction is made. He still is, including them as part of his family and as brethren therefore were able to pray our father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name privilege think that there was no merit in us, nothing that would attract the favor of God.

Nothing that would demand that he would give us a single blessing for mercy now not only has he loved us, given himself for us, redeemed us, but he calls us brethren and were able to speak to one who is just interested not the one before whom we must continually plead hoping that eventually we might get his attention, but one who is described as our father and encourages us to come to him. He wants to hear from us as his children.

So not only is there this talk of the special and unique blessing of being now considered in his family adopted into his family and that we are brethren we are called by him. His brothers, but it brings to mind another part of the fact has he called these his followers brothers. We have to think about the fact that being in the family. We are brothers and sisters in Christ we use that designation off was we speak to one another, or about one another.

That's not just a title to be tacked on the front of somebody's name. It has meaning it has significance. We are part of the same family.

We have obligations to each other and living in that kind of fellowship laboring for the unity that certainly wouldn't have been any family. It's not always easy. Certainly learned that the matter what your commitment is to have a solid Christian home, the things are not always smooth their difficulties in or encounter their differences of opinion that arise.

Sometimes children who are very submissive and easy to control some who are particularly red, rebellious and difficult, so there can be conflicts, but just because their differences in conflict.

You don't throw up your hands and quick God has provided instruction in his word as to how we deal with those differences and weak labor together in love, that we might have unity in our home and so that is true with respect not only to those of our immediate earthly family. But as far as our relationship with others in the family of God. John White summed it up this way, you were cleansed by the same blood regenerated the same spirit. You are citizens of the same city, a slave of the same master. A reader of the same Scriptures, a worshiper of the same God.

The same presence dwells silently in you as you them in you, as in others that are in this family. Others who are mothers and sisters in Christ therefore you are committed to them and they to you. They are your brothers and sisters, your father's mother person. Children in God, whether you like or dislike them you belong to them have painting times in your own personal family on a given day if somebody said to you love this little guy already. You love your wife or husband might say I'm not even sure I like him as those that conflicts can make for some cloudy weather but whether you like or dislike them speaking to others of children of God, you belong to you in the family with them. You have responsibilities toward them. That must be discharged in love as long as you live on this earth. You are in their debt whether they have done much or little for you.

Christ has done all and he demands your indebtedness to him be transferred to your new family." How can we give thought to that that one who is a child of God, redeemed by Jesus Christ. Jesus refers to them as brethren. We then as brothers in the Lord are to labor together that we might honor him by our conduct, our attitude, our words Jesus said by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, that you have love one to another. After looking at the words that Jesus spoke to Mary, we consider the words that Mary spoke to the disciples, she came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had spoken these things under her. You can imagine what their initial reaction was these people are all in a stressful emotional state. They have witness the horrendous death of the man that they love and are followed for these years. Some of them are still in a state of confusion they had anticipated that he was going to set up a kingdom literally on this earth and they would play a prominent role in it. Now all those hopes are shattered and seem die. His body taken down and laid in the two and it Mary comes in and said I've seen the Lord. We can put it well know that there was some skepticism in that because when we read the accountants given in the 24th Of the gospel of Luke, we see that clearly, but she brings good news, even if they had difficulty embracing it.

At first it was good news. In fact, it was the greatest news that could possibly ever be given. It was especially good because it followed what was a time in their minds of miserable defeat the think that they had walked with him when he came into Jerusalem and the people lined the streets and cried. Hosanna, hosanna, they were lifted up and they thought things were moving forward and everything was going to be wonderful and in a short time. He's dead.

What depressing situation. The account of the life of Jesus as recorded in this gospel of John is so rich such a blessing to trace the footsteps of the Savior to see how he lived and died, and was successful in accomplishing the work given him of his father to do. I encourage you to write about the snow that you listen today and if you can help us with the support of the program will shortly be thankful for paragraphs is the Baptist Bible.
