If you hear Tom Brady had to say about the football were feeding so far in 2022.

I heard him earlier on Thursday and enter how we have a perfect tableside from Thursday night football if you watched Thursday night football between the Broncos and Colts and you heard Tom Brady earlier in the day you would have almost believed that he knew what was coming.

Considering the two teams he did know what was coming. There are games that are low-scoring where it's about the defense.

And yes, the defense deserves credit for making the plays and causing these two offenses to look hideous but let's be fair. Let's be accurate. Haydee us yachts, but there are also times when the offense is just awful and Helios and the defenses are really not the driving factor sometimes is playcalling. Sometimes it's quarterback sometimes it's bad decision. Sometimes it's just bad execution as a when Tom Brady was asked about the parity in the NFL on Thursday meeting there more team sending it to into then any other record in the NFL. No winless teams left only one undefeated team left.

He nailed it. The state of the league after one month from what I watch a lot about football a lot of water football.

Do you think that he was sitting around watching Broncos and Colts. Maybe my device. Those teams never know.

Oy, what sometimes when I get on phone call that just goes on forever and it's not really informative or enjoyable. Sometimes when I'm stuck in traffic. Sometimes when I waiting in line. One of things that comes to mind. It's a phrase when I'm being super sarcastic since sarcasm is my love language.

I will say to myself, this is an hour of my life will never get back. Well Thursday night football, I got nothing for you is not what Jeff probe seven survivor when the team loses it and has to go back to their camp and that nothing I got nothing for you see, yeah, that's pretty much Thursday night football. So for those of you who don't have Amazon prime I-beam tonight. Be glad you didn't waste the money. He bids after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. You can find me on Twitter a little radio. Not only do we have the start of week five in the NFL. Not only do we have week six and the goal.

We cannot call this goal we can in college football.

It's go time baby, let's go you get into October, and it's a lot of scintillating juicy conference matchups. Even if you don't know which teams are left in your paper, for which deacons are about to leave your favorite culprit. And there's bad to word it talked about all of that with our college football insider NFL week five college football go time and we are hours away from the starts of the major league baseball playoffs. No joke, 12 hours from now know I do get back about the first game was it 207 Eastern time.

I lied just scratch that for the record, I mean I'm as bad as the cult of the Broncos. Sometimes we got four minutes into the show, and that that Artie screwed up. We are 10 hours from the first game of the major league baseball postseason.

By the time we get off the radio here in four hours.

We set apart. We will be half-dozen hours away from no one ever said that before half-dozen hours sounds weird six hours away from the starts of the major league baseball postseason. Let me just tell you what I will not be doing this weekend that sleep. Not only is there October and all of its glory. That's that's keeping me from any type of sleep by. I got some yard work to do so by God's. I'm a friend who also works in the business he was making me while not making me she's asking me, and since I love her I'm doing it for her.

Oy a zoom call on camera right after the first game starts.

I mean forget sleep just screw it, I'm just about to wake up, do my hair, but to make a bond about a zoom call that want to just get a watch baseball and get my artwork done but I'll sleep when the playoffs are over. That's what I tell myself it's only a month with the works, but the bags in your eyes can get really large and you can eat too many carbs mean whatever Lisa get to watch baseball player so they drag it out us were live from the rocket mortgage Studios you need to know what it takes for a home to fit your budget and your family. Rocket can so you can find me on Twitter on Facebook loved all your responses to our question last night one of the best and brightest moments and memories of baseball in 2022.

You blew up both Twitter and Facebook all day on Thursdays about awesome. I know you are primed and ready for what's to come on the grandest stage in the sports and so will launch forward into this new look wildcard weekend. Its major league baseball try to generate the energy of the enthusiasm, the excitement and anticipation right off the bat. I actually prefer the one in done method, but I get overruled baseball once more money.

It makes money with playoff games on TV.

So there you go. We got more playoff games on TV.

Just think about how Sunday could be so horribly convoluted.

My gosh, I can barely keep up with football games and it could actually end up being four baseball playoff games and a full slate of football starting at 6:30 AM Pacific time with the game in London but you know I will cross that bridge we come to it and nobody wants to hear me complain about the fact that I'm not getting sleep complaining it's just it's a state of the state of October just it is what it is that's one of the phrases in sports.

I absolutely hate that deftly does apply to October.

It just is what it is. Our phone number 85521242278552124. CBS will listen to Tom Brady very carefully about football. From what I watch a lot about football a lot of water football… Protection is out of the 35 6272 office trucks often feel what I mean. Tom Brady was prophetic. Let's not allow the Colts to get off without any microscopic criticism on them as well me when they need to be in the spotlight to because Matt Ryan and Russell was in both probable quarterbacks at least four times.

I brought some weird stat. I really didn't write it down or anything, but I read somewhere instead that had to do with.

Never has there been a game in which to quarterbacks with at least four probable starts each have gone the entire time without a touchdown. Some like that but if ye if you are looking for touchdown. The test now dear thing you play fantasy football and had really anybody in this game actually had one person I could tell you final tell you who I had jury duty.

I don't know my streak of three to Romania over anyway I get together. Broncos defense if anybody had the Broncos defense year sit in pretty because Matt Ryan was sacked six times he was hit a dozen other times he threw two interceptions. Both the cadence turns and the Colts were over two in the red zone. Now the problem worse. They were over four in the red zone three of 17 on your own yield on 34 down three of 17 in case you thought all those pines and those empty possessions in the middle of the game were the worst.

Now the Broncos saved the best for last time Logan longtime play-by-play voice of the Broncos radio network with the franked description of what he's seeing and hearing there in Denver.

So with two minutes and 14 seconds left. Russell Wilson is intercepted in the end zone by Stefon Gilmore so that gives the ball back to Matt Ryan and the Indianapolis Colts and a couple of minutes to work with.

They go 10 plays 67 yards hello McLaughlin and we are tied with five seconds left. There will will is Stefon Gilmore in the interception lead to the three points the tie the game at the end of the fourth quarter. So Ryan goes 10 plays 67 yards and two minutes with the offense and is much as that in fact was a game tying field goal to send this into overtime.

Know that I needed Frank Reich to gosh about Matt right in the fourth quarter as much as he did all my gosh this is we all need someone who sees us through the eyes that Frank Reich sees Matt Ryan I wish you guys cruise up close what I love the strong fourth quarter is looking his the conversation short conversations that we have the determination. I just feel what were going to score really doing you did is committed to work shall credit the map you see all these things said about what he doesn't fourth quarter impression. Well, he's right. The Colts did score with a few seconds left to go. They scored a field goal from 31 yards and could not get into the end zone. However, you see what they did more offense, more points well Colts at the ball to start the board are discussed starts to start overtime Indianapolis will I be lifted overtime. Denver he was four for four so he was the star to get the game ball. I wonder from Frank Reich in the postgame locker room is after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS torch pushes the football so bad that I did speak on CBS sports radio.

Did I tell you that sarcasm is my love language.

I did read that in food but that's the, wide-open type of thing so will go a sarcasm for now. So yes, it was pyridine is on Westwood One.

The Colts take the lead a three point lead. So keep in mind now it's 12 to 9. There's only three of the board three was really the wildcard the wild number on Thursday night and there's time left in OT, so if the Broncos can take at the other direction and get into the end zone.

Finally, they would have the win and would salvage something from this Thursday night so they move the ball downfield one big pass play for jury duty that goes 37 yards couple runs by Melvin Gordon who is now there feature back because to mate Williams tore his ACL another knee ligament and the Broncos are facing 1/4 and one not for the goal for then one at the 5 yard line.

Instead of taking the field goal. Remember week aligned with the Denver Broncos when Nathaniel Hackett got blasted for taking the ball out of these quarterbacks hand, opting for a 64 yard field goal with something crazy like that. This time, and member was in Seattle this time instead of taking a field goal on more than one from the 5 yard line to tie. He decides to leave the football in his highly paid, very expensive quarterbacks hands, one who is one of the white whiteboard set that one why the left Wilson Smith. You strolls and so you hear both versions. Dave Logan Broncos radio is pyridine is on Westwood One and Nathaniel Hackett kept the ball in the hands of his quarterback. They went to the touchdowns of the first down and what I think stands out on those calls is that he waited too long.

He kept the ball in his hands too long. Not sure what he was looking for, but he clearly was looking for something very specific that didn't open up so he forces the ball.

Stefon Gilmore get a hand on it and if you are watching kind of the fallout or what transpired in the seconds after that bold it's battle batted away. You may have seen KJ Himmler who was lined up in slot slam his helmet to the ground very frustrated because the play call was designed for him to slant toward the middle. He actually got a pick another essentially illegal unless you're right. Well, maybe it's close enough to scrimmage, but he got a pack from a fellow receiver.

The receiver the way to vendors and not to Colts behind him at bay handler slides over the middle on the plant.

He's wide-open for eight for a minute while on the minute you he's wide-open for second but Russ is busy looking at the direction holding onto the ball doesn't see him even Hamlet doesn't get into the end zone.

That would certainly look like he had a clear path at the very least, the Broncos have the first down because he was already over that first down marker when the Red Sea parted for him and told Russ and Sam and it was maybe a good play call design Hamlet result but Russ didn't hit the open guy through to a guy who had a bunch of people around him traffic. Just a lot of traffic to get batted away so lot of frustration for the Broncos will hear why Nathaniel Hackett decided to go for it on fourth down and overtime and knocking the field goal was a lot of time left game might have ended in a tie Colts Artie have one of those.

Oh my gosh I would've that would that would be the only thing that made this worse, and so Hackett may be, in this case, remembering what happened in week one will hear from him and Russell Wilson and then more about Frank Reich. Matt Ryan raving about the win. The defense did play really well and they want without John the Taylor.

I will say this to you a bazillion times a season. Always a win is a win is a win.

And if you get it, especially on the road on a short workweek you don't care how it happened. So the cult will take it regardless of how bad it looked. It can be you GL why you ain't got no alibi but it's a win for the Broncos there just no excuses and it's seemingly getting worse. Lots of people piling on Russell Wilson.

You can find me on Twitter a little radio also on her Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence excited to talk.

We fight with you as well as major-league baseball postseason. It's all happening. That's what October is all about peeps. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS sports radio you are listening to the anywhere friends go to church on the behind-the-scenes ensuring we see you Joe and Ellie Kuester Stadium run smoothly first start the season. Ranger done after hours podcast and we know that he really likes and didn't work out one of those things for you to feel for what they were doing and so the run didn't look as good as we had hoped it would have and give us a chance with Russell.

That's all you can ask for that situation when we get this after-hours Lawrence funny because people wanted and we can never widen that 77 yard field goal or whatever it wasn't the time Nathaniel Hackett after he had to explain himself again right after the end of the game in overtime in which instead of going for the first down because their fourth in one of the 5 yard line. He opts to go for the win. The homerun or maybe Russ.he says they opted away from the run because they didn't like what looked like with the defense. The goals defense and said they line up in shotgun and go for the homerun essentially in Stefon Gilmore knocked the ball away, but even so, if you want to pass it while I get the guy was open like right there in front of your nose before the defense can adjust before the defense can collapse. Russ waited a long time with the ball in his hands and missed his opportunity to get the first down and/or the touchdown. So maybe it was a perfect play call and I don't necessarily disagree that you go for the touch because if you take a field goal likely time runs out. You may not get the ball back again or the very least you give it back to the colt who had just in the last was it to drive that they had the ball been able to go the field for it for a field themselves so weak the field is probably not enough. It's not so much that I disagree with going for the win because letting that builds confidence and that's what players are looking for the coaches. The issue is how it was executed yet.

I think the play called left a guy wide-open slanting toward the middle and would've easily had the first down went after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. What did Russell Wilson have to say, you know he's he's always about backing his car, which is what brought them to say about the vital play the game.

We had good play: when: there is a good boy and no one know road is ready to move around you to dinner we came up big fortune to earlier drug for the two drugs are for him. So we went for a tie. You don't want to shut when the game and no window motor mentality goes to coach medical, fun, fun.

When the deployed so Russell did go on to take responsibility himself both teams rushed for over 100 yards in this game, and with the Colts. That's not Jonathan Taylor.

That's anybody else chipping yet who possibly can, but both quarterbacks throw multiple interceptions there were 10 total sacks of the cuties in this game are often sublime performed really well but sometimes that's about the quarterback holding onto the ball too long and the two teams were a combined over six in the red zone is just brutal offense all around now. Yes, the Colts get the win and they'll take it definitely didn't want another tie, but both office workers were pretty putrid with experience in the league. You understand I have been to games like this where they're just weird. You know you're tough and hard and you just gotta keep computing and you know there's there's still a chance for his young guys.

I think that that experience is invaluable not to be critical of the offense. Right now we know the better. We want hard when someone wrote on Thursday not fair? Not right now from the nurse of this is a worm figure out how to get better on all fronts. But we put good enough to get the one to mark what we had a lot of opportunities again. Those things continually show up and were not capitalizing on whether it's a drop. Mr. Breaux just too many things that you know are coming together and I think that you will for us. The office is going through some adversity and I believe that there to get through this and to learn from it were to grow from the reactor. We keep continually hurting ourselves and if you just think it's frustrating me to address it as an offense of you to fix sectors. The performance by the defense was spectacular and wasting those those great opportunities to win a football game better better listing defense but the bus also might have some cheaper drives removal of all known roads only just capitalizing some of you know when the employees there here and there that we can we can capitalize on where third long again to too much, you know, it's always tough on offense and on every thing else where third and 15th and 17. The snuff in the day, you know, phone, such as Kenneth so you hear a lot of the similar sentiments from Russell Wilson, Nathaniel Hackett, Matt Ryan, Frank Reich, although the case of the Colts. Well, you swallow it and you move on because you got the win for the Broncos is another game at home in which they're getting booed by their own fans royally booed.

It got louder throughout the game and to add the insults to the loss to the injury of the loss they paid this quarterback a lot of money. It's not all on Russell Wilson.

It's never that simple fact. If you listen to me at all on a regular basis or even now and then. You know how annoyed I get when we use the stat quarterback wins. That's ridiculous. A quarterback shouldn't get credit for a win when is defense killed it. Ryan what exactly Matt Ryan do that was the number one factor in this win. I hate that I hate boiling it down to a quarterback more than anything else. Yet these impactful yeti matters, but come on, and so right now you got to defenses or have it toe the line for these offenses that are just brutal and I don't know the Broncos have brought a buyers remorse.

Certainly, losing to Monty Williams didn't help. They want to be a run first team.

The Colts figure out a way to win on the road without Jonathan Taylor Dale Bell cow so it just to mess right now for the Broncos they thought they finally had their franchise QB in the same vein as John Elway and a Peyton Manning and there's still time for that got him for a long time. There's no time for that, but it's been some tough sledding yes some of that's on having a new coach, new system, there's lots of moving parts and we talked about the first month. The season is a race to consistency.

Well, neither these teams have found it yet. What a temporary say system bad football tell you was hours before Thursday night football is what I watch don't even that, let's be fair. You can buy me on Twitter a lot radio working to give you the team, not the tedious week Paul there made, there were no TVs working to give you the game of the week. Paul's are asking you to Paul's. The wildcard theory are both looking forward to and the fun actually unappreciative.

Jake even managed to polls, tuples well really it falls on you. I'm not to get people just like okay cool as long as producer Jake and managed to polls thought to ask but he can do it. He's a superhero, so we got a poll about the major league baseball wildcard weekend. Now hours away and then we've got your game of the week, full in the NFL, which we will do so.

Use these after-hours with baby Lawrence we got you a line heading into Friday wildcard weekend.

We got them didn't drama brewing on a dime in a ball about diamond drama and actually had to tell you something kind of thing will do things really you may have seen that baseball crowds at stadiums were all meaning the number of people who went to games in person was up from 2021, however, still below pre-pandemic levels so baseball is seeing a rise in fans attending games for the regular-season 64.6 million fans for the 30 baseball teams and that's up from 45.3 million in 2021, that makes sense because stadiums were full stadiums were even completely open to start 21. However, going back to pre-pandemic 2019.

The number was 68 and a half-million so down from 68 1/2 to 64 1/2. Essentially, million people but as much as baseball is I'm sure thrilled about that. How much do you want to bet that baseball is far more thrilled and this is specifically Rob Manfred that the average game time in baseball this year dropped six minutes per the average time of the nine any major league game drop for the first time since 2018 and this is the head of the pitch got the bench clock is coming but had the men instituted yet the average this season, three hours three minutes 44 seconds last year.

The longest average game time in baseball history. Three minutes and 10 333 hours and 10 minutes so down six minutes, big drop which of course makes the Rob Manfred believe that he's caught the tiger by the tail and after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio in 2005. This is how long that the games now draw out 2005, the average was two hours and 46 minutes and I get it 05 is now 17 years ago, but 17 years. Nearly a minute for every year though to see it drop six minutes from last season to this one is a big deal. So that got the pitch clock coming in major league baseball next season and a river that was big deal for the competition committee actually was unanimous and then the way that they've done with the extra eating that goofball runner on second base that actually has a lot to do with it. No doubt because they want to speed up games so there were this is just it's like working dirty stuff so you can like your eyes can glaze over.

If you want, but I think this is interesting. The average time of of minor-league games that went 9 Innings Was Way down so is like two hours and 38 minutes. I don't know if that's what Rob Manfred want your baseball once, but that's nine innings right so there in the in the third season with that gimmicky runner on second base. There were 216 games this year that went into extra innings and they they have like calculated like keeping track of course, like how many how many more extra inning games there are verses what they were before you like them. The pace of play is if you keep that runner on second base. That piece of playing is going to continue to drop right because you're officially forcing the issue you're putting a runner in scoring position before either team is earned it and so that's part of it. But also something is that there there are fewer extra inning games and so that also contributes to the fact that the average game time drop six minutes.

Oh yeah, the weeds, there I was going to give you some numbers and I can I do really need to lose my audience the entire like the whole thing in the entire first hour or so will this will just go with basics pitch clock is coming average basin blaze down extra inning games.

The numbers are down.

Stupid runner at second base their charting out effects it and in the minor leagues where they had the pitch clock average game time plummeted, actually 25 minutes you believe that 25 minutes with the pitch clock. Could you imagine were sitting here this time next year and were talking about the average time of a nine inning game being just over two and half hours.

If what you wanted is to gratification. You don't think baseball is worth the investment than it's coming because that could happen, I suppose we've got the raise at the Indians. Oh, sorry for seven months. The raise at the guardians to start off the wildcard weekend. That game is just overnight hours are now the Phillies and the Cardinals. The Mariners year. Rick red is on Mariners radio when they clinch their first playoff spot in 21 years and the Padres at the Met is the nightcap sorted a portable pole. We have a pull up to have a polo thumbs up from the other side of the double pane glass which wildcard theories are you most looking forward to except it should be 20 not she should PTO not to you is wrestling with that one to T00 is also or in addition to horror. Well, after forward looking forward to as well as announced it will be even worse off. I did not retweet yet because I always have to check so wainscot which I wildcard through though I can't talk sorry. I'm sure it's not even remotely entertaining which wildcard series are you fired up about you most heavily do most fired up about has you most fired up which wildcard theories as you most fired up. They don't worry about I spoke to a lot of old boy for so it fits perfectly into a twitter bowl so Delphi just yet, but you can find us on Twitter after our CBS and then on her Facebook page. Daniel is listing in Athens Georgia.

I still live in Athens Georgia. Daniel welcome to after our CBS sports radio might I'm good thanks Aldrich book. You know, not a governor doubt baseball. I got not too nerdy there.

Sorry about that.

Love it. Our good. Your I want every so the world.

I'm sorry I went 70 know you actually think you had something to do that. I did it all sorted out okay so what's the plan for the Braves this year. How to wipe on the platform so I'm willing to try to do on the one regular your rent one broker home want to use them at home.

No delegate better than the room which was about. I was there, actually. So yes I do know firsthand what happens inside enter the stadium but no longer talk about quicker know one thing all mind about an old probably help them out a lot not met grandma no better. The double slit is no marked with no pictures not provided anymore about things, and though I hope Rob Manfred is prepared for the fact that it will not be the case in in the playoffs because there's so many moves made specifically for matchups and strategies and eats it's painstakingly slow. It seemed like last year. The average was close to four hours or playoff games.

Now I get paid to watch a baseball during October. So whatever, but hard is much as you want people to see the drama you want people to experience that tension before our game is quite a leap from what they had during the regular season and it can slow down so much because those pitching changes are and what you're going to regret, and I will go once I started figure out what note are introduced to the Dammam light understanding more of why things were happening) about the first family no while you while you make the change and things like that or someone like me in my ADD brain lights that got more interesting to me every time I learn more about it like the word strategic but I don't think everybody's like us. Daniel required. Why are we slow for about 10 seconds.

I'll let you finish, how do you feel about the Braves on the wrong they are you there where you know criminal. I nothing to do with you, but I hope that you enjoy the postseason. Daniel, thank you for the after hours on CBS sports radio anywhere behind the scenes, ensuring we see Joe suits up everything can enjoy everything and Ellie keeps her stadium running smoothly. First, start solutions for Ranger done
