His mom Roger Mary's family and actuality it was seven days. It was 34 plate appearances since he had home run number 60,000s of people showing up at Yankee Stadium last week to see if they could witness 61 Aaron judge tying the American League record tying Roger Barris but actually like the symmetry outlet. I like that it's nearly 61 years today. I also think that anything worth having is worth sacrificing for anything worth having is worth the wait.

In the case of the judge family. The mayor's family know they weren't all there. Of course I'm sure they were all glued to the TV.

The at-bats that were carried nationwide on multiple networks and yet happened in Toronto where the atmosphere is a little more subdued but no less impactful. No less than iconic moments for major league baseball for the New York Yankees and 41 Aaron judge single 610-212-1531, number six, 1451 judges big smile on her face was swollen on her wall of the nation's 102 rings of the board when it comes on the eighth pitch of his at bat in the seventh inning of game number 155 on September 28, 2022. Get nearly 61 years to the day after Roger Mirus hits home on number 61 and set a record that is lasted for decades and after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio John Sterling on the Yankees radio network or live from the rocket mortgage Studios you need to know what it takes for a home to fit your budget and your family. Rockets can't. You could buy me on Twitter this morning a little radio also on her Facebook page. We allowed to cram into this final hour of our show and talk about week for the NFL that kicks off Thursday nights.

We also got part of a conversation with one of our favorite action. One of my personal favorites long before I ever worked here at CBS sports radio great to be able to connect to with him again and course of you missed anything on the show, you can grab the podcast after hours Amy Lawrence.com. We always post that link on weekday mornings back to Aaron judge and back to major league baseball get this 13 walks in between homeruns 60 and 61 and as I say, 34 plate appearances. It was the longest stretch in between homeruns for Aaron judge this year, but it must've felt like an eternity for his family for the Roger Mary's family for the fans Yankee teammates and for Aaron Boone, the manager of the coach as everybody who wanted it for him so badly, and he handled it with his natural poise. I want to say that any human being is impervious to pressure because no doubt as someone who wants his teammates and and the winning the games themselves to be the center of attention, not Aaron judge doesn't seek out the limelight. He doesn't want the spotlight. They just celebrated winning the American League East and he was all about that accomplishment. There was a moment in that seventh-inning at bat in which he stepped out of the batter's box took a little walk and Michael K. Who is the Yankees TV voice noted it too rare for judge. He's generally pretty content to stay right there in the batter's box and wait for the picture to be ready and comes that deliver the pitch. He's not a guy that needs a lot of time for reflection or deep breaths is interesting to see him walk out of the batter's box and actually take a little stroll in a deep breath, go back and you watch the bat. There might have been another foul ball he was on three was on full count.

At that point of three to count there were a couple of ball bells and their semi that another foul ball before he hit the homerun meeting after he took the stroll before that moment took place. But I do remember when he got back in the batter's box. He took a deep breath. There was so much relief. There was a lot of release of the motion in that moment and that his mom fantastic, huge smile blowing kisses and Roger Mares Junior right next to her along the fence. The two of them engaging in a Hagen that you can imagine the release and the relief of all that a motion for Roger Mares Junior so why didn't all the mayor's kids. It wasn't Aaron judge his entire family, but still pretty sweet to have two of them there to that are connected to them personally and professionally pose a credible reserve tomorrow will not merge for no longer supporting possible leaks and means a lot of longest modules for image law for a lot of people know his claim is usually plays a game the right way to produce people a chance to look at somebody who should be for 62 home runs and not just as Joshua did in the American League for no actual single-season hormone shell forming that's really who you are 62 and I think that's what baseball is.

Look at the records of baseball should do something a comment the Roger Mares Junior following the homerun he actually had his own little press conference.

There the Aaron thrilled to have a member of his family, and a member of the Marist family on hand and for his part, Roger Junior wants baseball to consider this to be the single-season homerun record though. It's not going to happen. I understand where the sentiment is coming from. I don't think it's just about his dad though his dad 61 home runs wasn't even acknowledged as the American League record until the early 90s we looked up the year just so we would be sure about it.

There is an asterisk next to that homerun Mark for years. Funny, right, not an asterisk next to any of the PED fueled homerun Mark but an asterisk next to his, and now we've got company in the form of Aaron judge. It's after hours on CBS sports radio kind of funny to hear people ask Aaron about pressuring to ask Aaron but when you think about the last seven days he's as I mentioned, had a Baker's dozen were the walks. He's scored a ton of runs because he's been on base. He had hit their extra-base hits as well as single and I didn't go back and look at every at-bat last night night before every single one of the bats which will full count manages doing what he's done all season long. That will get you can imagine the relief as there is simply because it's over but you had to ask Aaron judge about pressure is almost comical as were his brother right away. Just yes and the decedent bouncing the ball. You know you're like intended just to see the spilling out and the excitement and now I can't wait to watch all the different reactions of people he's his beloved as they come, and I think everyone is just so excited for him, but also I think every and I think it's partly because our awareness, but everyone feels a part of it and that's who we is pretty awesome setting up now for just an amazing atmosphere. I'm sure again in the Bronx start Friday night and you know good script so far is unbelievable. So happy for them. Not a more deserving person in my opinion leaders about his business. So what a special one for us to be able to witness it. No one more equipped to rise to the challenge anticipation. We've been waiting for waiting to get it over with number 62 over was to get on to bigger and better things. Hopefully in October for us. The fact that he sees the face your team and your best player in the fact that he is completely about others on the team.

It just makes me proud to have been you know that in his skipper for the last five years. Now, Aaron Boone caracole who wins number 13 actually coughed up the lead and so for the Yankees to rapidly and come back and win that game.

He's the beneficiary of that Aaron judge homerun as well as some of the other hits that came later in the game and then Aaron again any he's right.

Every single member of the Yankees team coaches manager.

They all poured out of the dugout and met him on the dirt on the warning track long line of of hugs embraces handshakes and then back in the dugout. They did it again weirdly enough to think that stood out to me weirdly enough, it was quiet. Yankees fans in Toronto because you could hear them but it was quiet enough that over the TV broadcast. I could also hear the home plate umpire say take your time. Take your time, I thought I'd write the home plate Mike picked it up.

He was telling them don't hurry, don't rush. It's a moment worth soaking in that same home plate umpire went up to Aaron judge was after the game or out of the game after his final about a not charge member. There was a moment exchange between the umpire and Aaron judge Eddie actually gave him the lineup card I saw that producer J as I watched the highlights. I did notice that when I was watching live but he gave the lineup card to judge that he would have that as well at school, yes I will talk about the ball here in a second.

But yeah, I heard the umpire say take your time. Take your time as they're out of the dugout and there enjoying the moment, and then there is no curtain call crazy right we pooled hits number 700 a lot less and there's a curtain call. Now he was a dodger last year, but the Yankees being very Toronto and yet the Blue Jays are seeing right now to try to clinch a playoff spot themselves they would try to win this game and it was quiet enough he could hear the umpire and there is no demand for curtain call. I suppose the still little bit of gamesmanship inside the AL East eyes. Those two things stood out to me the fact that it wasn't home and so the noise and the reaction wasn't quite the same energy. Not quite the same but still it was cool and Toronto can say they hosted that piece of baseball history which they didn't boo right Yankees fan that I thought was odd is that there were plenty Yankees fans there and everybody had their cell phones out. I don't you love that everybody taking photos and taking video regardless of whether you're cheering for New Yorker cheering for Toronto but you don't want to think about of the dugout again like so quiet it will just watch on the phone. Enjoy the moment. That makes producer J so angry the crap out of him. Yes okay so couple more things we wanted to let you hear the Spanish language version of Yankees radio because former guest year the show Ricky Ricardo nails that any bring so much energy got Rogerson made his job and you don't speak you'll do what you love listening to Ricky speaking of the record only for the New York Yankees but also the record in the American League. I love it.

I can call over and over because Ricky killed it and so on spacelike that abuses the energy into your Thursday morning the ball, not by a fan.

What you'll see the video. There is a moment where a band all love on a boat with that it had a glove to come on J has no patience for any of this right now, so he laughs the ball bangs off the bullpen wall and land in the Blue Jays pen where a bullpen coach. Pick the and promptly gives it back to the Yankees about that all the talk about how much money this ball might be worth all the talk about what happens if you catch it. Do you keep it. Do you sell it for what could be a lot of money or would you get back. This whole debate is been waging raging and waiting waging and raging over sports radio for the last week plus actually probably going back even farther because we knew Aaron judge was closing in on this turned out, and this is just sweet irony gets caught by bullpen coach doesn't care to keep it for himself. Actually, his wife works in sports TV. She works right. If all networks are walls.

She made a joke about about to file for divorce are announced by divorce because her husband is the one who caught it and they waited until a member of the Yankees came to get into is that Britain who came from the Yankees bullpen. They wanted to make sure with somebody new a little bit nervous about giving it to member security, thinking maybe it was it someone who would be pose a Gore right off with it himself.

So instead they wait until a member of the Yankees comes over Zach Braden. He has security then to get it back to the Yankees dugout. The clubhouse and the ball was promptly delivered to one Aaron judge, they are worked out for the best probably absolutely a dead but it makes me laugh that all that debate over the last however many weeks and months price whatever matters not at all. My only question is that fan who didn't touch the ball and we have a name for him. Apparently, do we think the lasagna is at his real name. I don't know but what is not identified. Maybe just pronouncing it wrong. Lasagna is in the Italian meal on with cheese and I can't see what could be done if you jumps you were to jump into the bullpen know you get kicked out of the stadium and he will probably break a leg or so.

But if you got the ball would that be okay. There's no way sub average Fabian what all out of the pulpit and hang on the ball. There's no money once he saw it hit the ground in the balls probably sit there for what a solid it's not his ball goes into the ball. So he would have to get dotted know he wanted he wouldn't though meet somebody would've got to before he did but he fell into the bullpen collected is his weight in his whereabouts. Somebody else would've picked it up and landed in the pulpit right banged off the wall late in the bullpen so somebody else would've got to it first himself out Frank Frank event you were to pick it up. Don't think that will be his ball anymore because not much that you got still in the park, the one that he was trespassing because he's in the park and he's not supposed to be right in the stadium that he needs to be in the stands. So now there's no way that they would let them keep it that somebody would take it a problem if not security, then the Yankees would've taken it from him because it's not your ball.

You had to trespass to get it.

What your ball anyway but don't get me started. So anyway, that debate becomes moot because a member of the Toronto Blue Jays staff ended up with it he caught it he ended up with it and he gave it back to the Yankees and the ball is now with Aaron judge worked up about take that baseball debaters sports: yours who that's gotta burn them up. It's really, really want to do a lot of money for you can find me on twitter a lot radio also on her Facebook page. Congratulations to them. They are incredible at what they do.

It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio still don't know whether or not Tampa will host Kansas City on Sunday night at Raymond James Stadium. There is a backup plan. Minneapolis will be the site because the Vikings there in London. That's where the NFL is chosen to move the game if they need to. But again, we don't have that information yet. As for the Buccaneers.

They been in Miami for their week of practice, we can control the outside forces and articles with the city of Tampa right now. What were we have to play. Hopefully it is that everything is fine but were not damaged too much, but if we have to go play elsewhere and always is that the focus on lock and feel sorry for us and also we got for us away game regardless of going somewhere to place a game plan to try to prepare yourself that way and obviously some thoughts and prayers are buddy in the Florida area and hopefully they got out of that is not to be a different kind of a road trip for the Chiefs and the Buccaneers actually for that Sunday night football game starting this late on Sunday morning. It's the first international game 930 Eastern time, but 830 in the morning central time for both the Vikings and the saints are on the road and her cousin for me to be able to take on London and a lot of conversation, a lot of prep to get to this point and make sure that were ready to go this weekend just about us doing what you know, our trainers and coaches are telling us, and just making sure no matter what on Sunday that we execute well in and played a high level but you were here were this similar schedule and should be able to get really good work in is because normally would and then from there just have to handle it as we go on and on and do all we can to get games displacing games international and it's week four it's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS sports radio Mike McCarthy on Jack Prescott. What's the latest on his injury conditioning. So the first week. So continue on the path towards controversial but not abuse this is all mixed up as a swelling totally over the joint summary sort to build strength group of hopeful subjects that really know swelling goes down click. Not quite as cantankerous as Bill Belichick, who insisted that he wasn't reading medical reports or MRI instead and I thought his job and all he knows from the medical staff is that Matt Jones is day-to-day day by doxies that day by day over and over and over again 12 times to be exact. So we don't know if it's Mac Jones.

We don't get back Jones for the debate. Taking on these new societies Green Bay Packers which is kind of funny to think about the different ways the coaches deliver those injury reports, but Mike McCarthy would also like us to know that he had pursued the question. I really do.

He's not a doctor either at can you tell just by looking at them so cowboys back inside the NFC East for another game against the rival Washington commanders that was taking place at AT&T Stadium. Then as I mentioned thinking about the Packers and and not knowing if it's Mac Jones so that distal kind of question marks moving forward for the Giants in that same division they will not have one of their top receivers in sterling shepherds of Daniel Jones have to make do without you heartbroken for him to see him go down after his fall through so much to get back to know if you feel for him immensely.

She's is have a lot of trust and a lot of faith and I know is working hard so far as a game plan going forward will see how works out. You have a lot of faith and confidence in the giant just lost their first game of the year they're sending it to and one same record as those Dallas Cowboys with Cooper Rush at quarterback. The last two weeks. The Chicago Bears are also sitting at two when one even though their offense has been absolutely abysmal silicates, bears and giant this weekend will see which one can produce the better looking offense. Find a rhythm binder group but there's been a ton of criticism on Justin field mean you don't know my response is working working as six or so, speaking played like a double curvy road that was his assessment, but they did get that last second field goal against the Houston Texans that gave them the way. So in the end NC North you're talking about the two and one Vikings in London.

The two when one bears against the Giants. The 211 Packers who host the patriots and Aaron Rodgers in the office is looked better but the defenses after a hard time game planning for a patriot scene that may or may not have Mac that change anything. Aaron ever talks about letdowns or emotional trap.

Standard anybody talk about moral victories in the Packers locker room is also very dismissive. He does admire Bill Bella check in his press conferences, though he thinks they're hysterical so that explains a lot start of week number four tonight with adult. Three. No at the bangles wanted to, but coming off their first win. They try to get back into a rhythm and let's be honest, the offense of light is critical for that would only allow one sack of Joe Burrell last week, I coming up part of my conversation with one of my favorites in radio long before I was here listening to local radio stations Range of your favorite teams from your hometown, you can completely cost listening experience. Lawrence Mallory Eagles radio one of the only remaining undefeated in the NFL. As we headed to week number it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio.

Thank you boys got a chance to catch up with a former Eagles defensive lineman spent the majority of his career there in Philadelphia, Mike Golic, who is also with Westwood One.Sunday night football and a drafting analyst longtime radio host one of my favorites going back to our days when we were colleagues at my previous network and we were connected with him for gridiron greats and and that's an amazing cause that he supports heartily.

Always good to catch up with Mike Golic once again and want to bring back part of that conversation I asked about playing in Philly. The stories are legendary. So what does it mean to be legal and play for those fans. Mike and I will put most of my career.

Your letter of the most radical of the most emotional granddad are playing better than you know so you don't really care are or are really given to them. You know Ben Simmons with their will let you know and you know that that's fair well manned along with the blue-collar town.

I was a blue-collar player you know why I love the general we are doing well. They look ecstatic right now me. We were never my your Super Bowl obviously Super Bowl the last you know last few years, but they are so passionate about 13. The laughter my quite right left to go to Miami and my one year in Miami. We were nine and to record all and our games were blacked out sellout I was gone and I'm like what the hell is going for seven years in Philly were were sold out.

The people are crazy that I went out to Miami a little bit different, but also in my soul, well-balanced almost wild stair schedule hasn't been as challenging. Three. Know is three now. So what impresses you will parcel you are what you record directly right they can't decide what is affordable. We know we know that was your first trail in her chair when her to follow quarterback everybody talk about the beginning of your they're playing for their future with that he are the quarterback or rep coming up. Probably for quarter the goal in the first row again quarterback to play well political like passing well now 3540 touchdown God know what the make sure your interception goal usually for quarterback is single digits within a structured picture so you know 20 may be in the 20th touchdown in under 10 interception that's what you want them to supplement that with your leg blotted weapons form Brown was a monster form want to record some incredible points also learn very very balanced team. I think of the good thing you played in Philly obviously but you also played with Notre Dame. How does the passion compare when you're talking about that atmosphere on right there in the passion of the property passion for Notre Dame's country walked me we would go on away trips. I mean the airport about your hotel I made was truly truly a national team. One of the know know their independence so they don't have one property so they are national team in the biggest rival USC which is futile because of the national rivalry so yeah I'm not only in South Bend Chicago were nationwide with Notre Dame limited sample size.

Mike sets up roller coaster ride.

These first three weeks water a couple of other headlines to be teams are surprising. You good or bad to start this first month, while a surprisingly bad. No wonder when the blood I was a good supply. 111.

I thought would not talk that Ryan was a big upgrade will goes on course and turn it up in Washington right now but II thought that I picked the team to win the division again as you said earlier sample size object to them what I was disappointed in Annapolis and the other team think I thought the strength would be one of the occult would be one of those you we talk about whatever your four-part oil make it the next year. I thought these two would be cool. But already there's a lot of talk about working touchdown last year already is fiber, resorting back to that gunslinger trying to throw people that could be an issue.

So that supplies me a little bit on the good side. Look at Jacksonville. There 211.doc peters without your culture Super Bowl coach there kind of growing all you want them to be. I think you and I think if you don't have an interest. Most people do want to love the Detroit line where they're playing your score a lot of points. Campbell motion to him that all injectables are both going to the right direction. I love to hear Campbell talk he and micrometer to my favorite coaches to listen to you but whenever you have to preface a locker room speech with I'm not a lunatic. I'm not sure what that sets to your locker rooms. Would you as a player preferred to play for a coach that seems like you completely out of his mind but brings that passion or work without a doubt that God your white wartime" white people. Blah blah blah worried about training camp. All the running coach with a prayer payment and rent a rental lot and guys that came with him from. Apples acquired old, all the better player ready to run what you think about it as a player. Think about man wanted more, more, My first will go to the high Golic is an NFL that longtime radio host and football analyst now with Westwood One and draft kings. It works please to spend a few minutes with him in his partnership with gridiron greats and of course our friends at Southern recipe smallbatch pork rinds.

I really enjoy asking guys who played in in different eras.

Why this is important because I don't think many fans realize how different it was.

Unless you are watching it years ago decades ago. So why is gridiron greats, an organization and a cause that matters to you all that I'm on the board, our leader with no player that played decades ago and I put record for you know what, how, when the game in their path between their pension help available is not a lot. So gridiron greats got knocked out or taught and someone a lot of time to restart help you out back to me is what gridiron great work were helping our guys that are played years ago that are struggling were helping them, whether it's with your mortgage. Whether whether it's a major surgery.

Things like that that money that we raise is used for gold players that meet the everyday things are even bigger than that. So that's why I like a good part of this for years now. I am proud to be part of working to start the younger generation of players involved as well and all that so you're football Dave four-part appreciation day on Super Bowl Sunday what what they want to do is they want to trade like that cool. That's a pretty cool thing excited wind appreciation day.com and go there and you pick anything you believe to get back in. Each week one randomly selected a group you would've picked up or crying for every fact that you get grand prize of $5000 of your pork arrived shortly money where your goals gridiron greats as well. So very, very, very fantastic. There small a small doctor such good people alignment told recruiter and Rachel were looking to raise a lot of money to help awesome conversation with Mike and that's not even the whole thing.

We got his extreme weather story again that he played in weather conditions that he couldn't believe hit and we also got stories about sacs and dissecting and just another fun football father if he well before we go into week number four week four fun football fodder. I do love alliteration to my thanks to Mike and certainly to the gridiron greats. A fabulous organization started by Mike Ditka which is recruited so many for what is a cause of as he talks about a helping hand for those who don't have the millions of dollars and the incredible medical benefits of having played in the NFL, but their careers were just as important, and just as impactful so as always we post the link to our podcast and all of our interviews are posted separately after hours Amy Lawrence.com I try to share those interviews coming up later in the days you could look for those on either our Twitter or are Facebook and for the time we reconvene you will have week four underway talking tonight after hours with Amy Lawrence CBSSports radio listening to local radio stations range of your favorite teams from your hometown, you can completely denies listening experience.
