Hearing Aaron fell out our ELA acts again remind me of a snippet that I heard from him after I got crushed by the Vikings on Sunday. He actually joked that at least they had four more points than than they did last year's season opener. I swear, I don't think we use that last night on the show, but he did. He made a joke about how at least we had four more boys than last year's season opener when they only scored three points get the saints in Jacksonville reading is it too soon might be too soon, Aaron, Roger too soon for all those Packers fans that felt like you sold a bill of goods about how there be no other contenders in the NFC North.

I was told that with Aaron Rogers as the quarterback rest of the North was irrelevant. At least we scored four more points than last year's winner. He finds himself humorous, but this entire hour will have nothing to do with Aaron Rogers that was at word were done with Aaron broader is after hours with a phone CBS. I will say this though, come next Saturday will come Saturday next weekend I will be in Green Bay Greenbelt well I'll be in Wisconsin the Appleton area first. Spending Saturday with family first time I've been back in Wisconsin since we lost Grammy Helen and after the first time in my entire life that I've ever been to Wisconsin without Grammy Helen, it's going to be. It can be different for sure.

But on Sunday I'll be in Green Bay where I'll be hosting our show for Sunday night and Monday night of of next week and am also going to be at the Bears Packers game at Lambeau Field on Sunday night so that'll be interesting to see how the hackers respond to what was an anemic performance all offensively in their first game just it's not unfamiliar, I suppose, but they are searching for a bit of a new identity as well. With all the changes for them.

The specific specifically in the receiving core and end he made the point that they need to get Aaron Jones and and Ajay Dylan more touches, which is absolutely the case I would expect them to get crushed by the Bears. But what do I know I said just before the top of the hour of said multiple times on the show. In light of what happened on Monday night football in Seattle when we make predictions. The NFL last in our face that after hours on CBS sports radio on this Tuesday morning.

Now we are in the shadow of week number one it's done it's gone but it's certainly not married or live from the rocket mortgage Studios when you need cash out of your home in a simple way to get it. Rocket can. I made this point on my CBSSports minute Nathaniel Haack.

It's not new to the office of Scott of the ball in the NFL, nor is Russell Wilson. Neither one of them called a timeout until it was really too little too late. 20 seconds left on the clock. They had three timeouts in the final minute against Seattle. There, trailing by a point. They look disorganized. It was a mess really from start to finish.

When you consider penalties and the fact that they were so bad in the red zone and then the clock management or lack thereof. At the end of the game, but of the CBSSports minute that I just recorded a little while ago that some of you will hear soon enough.

I capped it with hate.

When you're an offense of coordinator you don't have to face the music. Now that your head coach, you're the one that has to pull on your big boy pants and go to the podium and answer all the questions is no hiding when you're the head coach and that's why had coaches make so much more money coordinators do because they are the ones who had to deal with the media and they're the ones that generally get all the responsibility that the buck stops with them and that the new and relatively unfamiliar position bracket and boy are there plenty of questions after what happened last night in Seattle we can start at the beginning the over those of you who are waking up early on this Tuesday morning that he didn't to watch her didn't see it maybe didn't hear the fact that Russell Wilson got booted and identity reports on social media.

I don't know that is true or not because I didn't see it myself.

There were reports that fans were throwing things at him as he came out of the tunnel with the Denver Broncos but yes a lot of brewing. I was stunned by that. I have no idea how Seattle Seahawks fans, especially over the last 10 years who enjoyed being relevant being division champions being NFC champions twice and winning a Super Bowl how you will your Pro bowl quarterback who gave you 10 years of his life in some of the best years of his career, but the fans were riled up. It was raucous it was the 12 the man, so don't tell the Seahawks or their fans there supposed to stink and finish dead last in the NFC West because they're not having it. They think you're full of it when you say that things they put their best foot forward immediately in that first half we got to see that they were ready to play in. This was not good to be a walkover to Seattle during opening for a number he was slippery, the great Kevin Harling on Westwood One, who along with Kurt Warner word kind of amazing. Think everybody was watching the way that this Seahawks all but performed in the first half you could point to the Denver defense.

You could say that if they know Hackett didn't use a lot of the starters during the preseason all that might be true but there may also be some truth to the fact that Pete Carroll and the Seahawks were really wanted to win this game and Gino Smith is a veteran QB himself.

He had time in this Seahawks system and Pete Carroll told us all of the preseason training camp that it was Gino's job that Gino had beaten Drew Locke and that Gino learned that starting not his first season opener in which he started since 2014 in the first half. He completes passes to eight different teammates of eight different Seahawks at receptions plus a shot penny was already over 50 yards rushing. Gino himself only misfired on one ball. 17 of 18 from hundred 64 yards and those touchdowns that you heard that Russell Wilson did connect on one long pass with Jerry Judy is of the Broncos got of the board with that one touchdown, but already at the break. Denver had seven penalties for 71 yards and that would continue that lack of discipline really there were an undisciplined mess that would continue through the second half. As with the red zone woes for the Broncos third quarter their opening drive, they fumble on their snap inside the 11 snap inside the 11 yard line.

Not only did they not put today in but Melvin Gordon from shotgun from shotgun urine shotgun on the 1 yard line. Forget the 1 yard line that you might as well call it first and goal at the five anyway.

There on the 1 yard line. They line up in shotgun and as Gordon takes the handoff from Russell Wilson.

He fumbles it that he fumbles that the opening drive of the third quarter. Later in the third quarter.

Denver is on the 1 yard line again. Also, once again in the shotgun formation with that friendly fire runs into his own guy got hit by a Seahawk own guy and drop the football crazy stuff from the category. You can't make this stuff up. Still 1713.

After three quarters towards noting that the Seahawks did not score in the second half on the first drive of the fourth quarter, yet another red zone opportunities and snaps inside the 16 yard line and think it was for incomplete passes and a false start solely they didn't fumble the ball but for incomplete passes at a false start inside the red zone, so they settle for a field goal. It was a 64 yarder 1716. That is the score and after three and out by Seattle. Denver gets the ball back and this is what is shown up for right.

How many times in the lead late game comebacks. How many times of the ball, but in Ross's hands and directing the Seahawks dramatic finishes. He's going.

He's been he's got a flair for the dramatic. It's all built to the spinal Denver possession. As I was listening to Kevin Harling, Kurt Warner Kearney's deep dump about it.

Denver gets the ball back with four minutes to go. They don't get a whole lot yard as they moved to the Denver 45 to 3014 gelati Williams picked up nine which put some little over midfield with the fourth and five, and as they seemingly are trying to plot their next move. The clock keeps taking and taking and taking and taking if you're watching the Monday night Mannings paid about came out of his skin because he couldn't believe they didn't call a timeout heat. He was speechless.

Eli Manning kept saying whether to call a timeout to call timeout that I got a call timeout. Now the clock it's all the way down to 20 seconds 41 seconds took off the clock before that use their first timeout and you know they use the timeout for to set up a 64 yard field goal. Braden McManus, who's got a strong leg had never made a field goal longer than 6260 boards asking a lot of anybody even say Kate York.

It would've been the second-longest field goal in NFL history. He minutes is on his initial attempt, which didn't count because Seattle calls a timeout and it still instead of having your $258 million quarterback with the ball in his hands forth in 5/22 to go pick up a first down you get closer. It's not a 64 yard kick, go ahead and kick the field goal search real goal for 20 something three minutes for the 45 drilling one. This is the right call, but also clear regular visit. This is a huge way.

The odds were born will 60 and he wasn't the only one he was the only one. Even though Russell Wilson backed his head coach Carol. Were you surprised by the decision to go from 64 yard field goal instead of give the ball to a quarterback that you know so well before it was for the guy was surprised I wasn't certain that we will put in 24 May were ready for fourth and five. Is it possible I would assume that it is actually true that Pete Carroll has more faith in Russell Wilson then that they know Hackett or is it possible that Pete Carroll knows more about Russell Wilson.

Then Nathaniel get all my gosh and then I will give Russ credit for toeing the company line but come on man you are a quarterback who believes in yourself and your skills you tell us that all the time and yet you think it was the right field goal from 64 yard let you try out for them by. We should know from the use of force a club – room for Sutra for cyclic shells before the drive got got there. Unfortunately, to going to just like forfeiture notice when little left, I believe, go check out we what we doing you don't believe in everything you know. Anytime you can try to find a way to make a plan for the father. That's great too but also the whole thing was a wrong decision that you can make it. Obviously you hindsight you know we make it but found it in the situation again. The wind out whatever he decided he wanted. I would also did anybody from the Broncos watch how bad the kicking was a week number one anybody did that all that matters in all, but there were some abysmal kicking performances.

I mean rough. There were games that hung in the balance on kicks they were games that were lost in the end because kicks were not made or blocked or yada yada yada it was a roller coaster ride for special-teams week number one, and yet somehow, even after he missed on the initial attempts, Nathaniel Hackett thought was thought that was better than his quarterback.

No other was that I might get offended what it Nathaniel Hackett have to say about the kick instead of the board and five and about the 30+ seconds they came off the clock before they use their first timeout we are saving them for timeout in the postgame locker room for people get a snack timeout to let Russell Wilson walk on the field to get booed again by the good you know the first-time head coach that you don't need to carry those over the week number two. I know you're from the video, Hackett the male Nazi.

Welcome to the bow coach that after hours with Amy.

You are listening to the after-hours podcast. Use these after-hours Amy Lawrence where Russell Wilson had to say about going for a 64 yard field goal.

Instead of allowing him and the Broncos office essay on the field to convert 1/4 and five, or at least try.

Now why I certainly understand that they were brutal in close and late situations are actually up just short goal line situations. They were really bad. We talked about the red zone woes so I understand if if Hackett wanted to tell us that he didn't think his offense could get 5 yards.

Okay, maybe there's that Russell Wilson knows that he would trust Nathaniel Hackett well coach. Welcome to the podium. Why allow your kicker to go for a 64 yard boot. Instead of allowing the office to try 1/4 and five. Brenda did his best shot won't be able to use capable of output say I wish we would've gotten a lot closer to put us in that weird spot there because we were in the fugal Range Rover on the fourth-down situation didn't think we were to get that many yard so thought it was a great job budget on site and we just made the decision want to go shut their on that one to body. Williams got them 9 yards on the third down member was third in 14 he got them 9 yards so that it almost sounds like Hackett was unsure they were in no man's land then and so instead of going for it on fourth down because you're obviously in fourth-down territory in the final minute anything so well.

Maybe we can make this kick ultimately though he didn't trust his offense and also by the time they let all that but with the 30 seconds took off the clock. They really have as much time as maybe they needed you probably had about 20 seconds left.

Let's say you you run a fourth-down play usually run play but but fourth and five is a longer than that and quarterback speak situation somebody would totally try it, but it looked like you run a play 78 seconds then you're down to what 1213 seconds you have time or maybe one more play before you, but they also had two more timeout though stop the clock after two more snaps and what about an opportunity to set up their their field-goal team. The whole thing was a mess and it really was a lot messier because after they got those 9 yards on third down.

It sounded like Nathaniel Hackett was the pride I didn't expect that and then was kind of unprepared for what to do next.

And so they all got a scene around they look at each other. This is on Russell Wilson to Ross is a veteran quarterback you number 11. We quarterback called timeout all the time and three of them. We see Aaron Rodgers doing Peyton Manning is that Intel break call timeout all the time when they're not ready at the line or they don't like what they see the line is also one Russ but coach Hackett why no timeout after the third down play. We have no excuses.

That's what we preach. We are be sure that we don't get the gift planning and get a call to get those guys Roland I know it was it was definitely loud but again that's no excuse for you. Peyton Manning obviously a Super Bowl winning quarterback in Denver during his time there, and Eli Manning were part of the Monday night Mannings and Shannon Sharpe. The Hall of Fame tied Ed happened to be with them during the fourth quarter ends their reaction as the time is ticking off the clock is is priceless, one writer talk about talk about your loss.

My truck drove off away from timeout settled, you just burn 30 seconds and called timeout.

Anyway, that's what you did, you use wasted 30 seconds that they'll Hackett certainly has a learning curve of the first-time head coach Pokémon man, even on the off at the start of the ball in the league for years and your father was a coach to so no, there is excuse their first-time head coach. It wasn't just that they were brutal in the red zone. Denver had dozen penalties for 106 yards. This really was undisciplined and they were unprepared and that final minutes just underscores that by the way, Shannon Sharpe and Eli are talking through the exit. The seconds are taking out the clock and they're talking back and forth. If you haven't seen it in the video is there on twitter.

It's easy to find Peyton's got both of his hands pressed either side of his head, and he's looking East is looking incredulous at the back all this time is going out the clock speed let you speechless. He's waiting to call timeout. It doesn't happen until it's obvious and far too late. The look on his face. He does not have a poker face. It is fantastic and let's record your progress. That is not so fantastic, but his face said it all.

It really did doctrine about my first all we better check his tick-tock and see whether or not he's got some choice reaction to the way the Broncos botched the final minute or so and of course the time in the red zone plus the penalties really quickly before we get to our update in case you don't remember when Russell Wilson was traded from Seattle to Denver.

There were multiple players that went to the Pacific Northwest to relock one of those is a quarterback know thing at the tight end who was featured in last night's game and Shelby Harris. I defensive lineman who was a starter for the Broncos and got sent to Seattle in the steel, James Palmer of NFL network caught up with a very animated shall be on the field following the Seahawks win part of this trade no longer talking this is about Russell Wilson building statement is one of the line multiple laws okay so let's ride. Of course, is Russell Wilson's thing.

Even his own teammates make fun of all the different promo videos. He did recording Broncos nation. Let's ride and so I mean it's is what happens when you turn well when you return to your former team, your former stadium and not only are the fans booing you but there's a bunch of players there that are just tired of hearing about your glorious return and how to go so horribly wrong for them so that interviewer Shelby Harris, James Palmer of NFL network just a minute and 20, but boy did he pack a lot into it and he asked about Jamaal Adams. He was carted off in the second quarter, and according to Pete Carroll after the game. He's got a serious quad injury as a way to hear about that. More about that coming up on Wednesday because today's Tuesday.

Can you believe it today is already Tuesday up and Adam peeps up in Adam we still got your candidates for TD of the week we got our defensive player of the week and you will give you the latest on with the serious injuries that we were, waiting for the prognoses to come on Monday. Yeah, there's always the downside of a great football weekend.

It's after hours with Amy.

You are listening to the after-hours podcast don't rose yes on twitter or do.

It was a cold 1227 years old or so notes Minnesota Blakey's ears circling out of this room is 20.

While there is some great need candidates that it's really hard to narrow it down before but for the purposes of twitter, twitter, bold efficiency. We selected for TDs from the very first week of the NFL season here ride Radke Mike Golic on Westwood One Sunday I football Tom Brady to a one-handed well one to grab. He's got a secondhand Mike Evans with a flair for the dramatic in a one-handed twisting gravity and so Paul Allen on Vikings radio Justin Jefferson torching the Green Bay Packers save the radio. Welcome back to Mike Thomas first game since the late stages actually week 14 of 2020 and then get Jody back on bears radio. This might be my favorite play 1 My Favorite Pl. in the entire weekend. Justin feels alluding pressure keeping his head up going cross body and Crossfield to Dante Pettis.

It was all alone at the bear scored 19 unanswered points to rally past the San Francisco 49ers. You can vote on twitter a lot radio or on our show twitter after-hours CBS. The poll is pinned to the shop. The shop again out but this is what happens on Tuesday morning.

Football season is been to the top of our show twitter or a thought. Our Facebook page and we always take your writing in votes. In fact, I've seen a writing vote for one of the most dynamic defense in place of week one truck #with the protector for Borough Whiteside to his right lips.

He wants to wait rushing through them so mango one everywhere in this game against the Bengals and for that he is our deep at the player of the week, sponsored by the Navy Federal credit Union who proudly serve the Armed Forces DoD veterans and their families, their members are the mission. Learn more@navyfederal.org on the first pass of the game from Joe Burrell, Minka Fitzpatrick picks it off and takes it back for a touchdown.

So he is a pick six to go along with 14 tackles and he's the one who blocked the point after attempts by Evan McPherson with no time left on the clock in regulation if not for his block.

The Bengals come all the way back and win this game because it was a chip shot. It was a PAT it Evan McPherson certainly has that on his resume in his repertoire, but because of that block PAT the Steelers end up having multiple opportunities in overtime so adventures and kicking all over the place and yet still for some reason Nathaniel Hackett thought it was a good idea to trot out his kicker for a 64 yard attempts half no place to go but apparently for those teams that made dubious decisions and poor clock management and did not win on kicks you can vote again for TD of the week on our show twitter after-hours CBS or on our Facebook page and we actually have a new feature work and introduce coming out this week before we get to weeks to kick off week two because we don't feel like it's fair to only highlight the exploits of the offenses casino defense wins championships at all.

It's after hours here on CBSSports.

We knew that the news about deck Prescott would lead to surgeries of the fractured dobby had the surgery on Monday and the timeline right now is 6 to 8 weeks before he can return.

He told us on Sunday night he couldn't grip the football. He told us that he wasn't able to throw it obviously because he couldn't get a handle on it and we've heard about these injuries before back Russell Wilson dealt with this last year and came back way to quickly thumb that was it. Producer date was his middle finger, middle finger the tip of the top tip of his middle finger right, but he couldn't grip the football and it was pretty evident because his accuracy was gone for the few weeks after he first got back Mike McCarthy had to course talk about it with his team get his team try to point in the right direction as they face now, a month a nap. Maybe two months without back issues. Resilience will have challenges to go without them watching with one so little is so distorted for electric energy rotation of the members of the players so as will overlook what people need to be better than we were initially recognized so the work of the police of understanding is we did so that's where we are. We spent a good portion of our Sunday night into Monday morning show fielding your overreactions. Let me just tell you 75% of them had to do with the Dallas Cowboys. OMG the people who course or Cowboys fans who are whether or not there there believers at DAC are devastated because you're talking eight weeks here where you don't have your starting quarterback and your offense is already searching for a new identity. The offense of lines in transition your receiving corps has seen a lamb at a bunch of other guys and and so he needed to be a stabilizing force in the driving force that offense until they could get comfortable and find identity, but that socket happen. I would say the positive is an Mike McCarthy talks about resilience. Another knock at a panic there and keep moving forward.

It's likely that the NFC East will still be up for grabs. If we know anything about this division, you don't generally see a team run away with it unless it happens to be deathless right so Dallas last year had a pretty healthy lead in the division, even when they were playing well later in the year they were managing to maintain that the Eagles looks good and we can ever one they got pretty high expectations because of the move they made in the off-season, but still it's the NFC East and it's the soap opera of the NFL hadn't usually there aren't there aren't major separations until well if at all, but until much later in the season and even then it seems like this division is always because of that, the rivalries, and because you don't have place right now.

You don't have a team that is expected to be a Super Bowl contender or as an odds on favorite. Even when he gets back, but it might be early November still is a long way to go. After that half the season remains. I hated for DAC. It sucks for DAC. Personally, all those people piling on the Dallas Cowboys. It's easy to do right now kick them when they're down.

But this division is likely to still be up for grabs it up for the taking. Come mid-November even it's after hours on CBSSports notes a different story for the AFC North write these teams, organa batter and bruise one another. But how long can the Steelers go without the defensive player of the year in TJ Watt without him. Everything looks different. Everything opponents can't afford to put one guy across the line from him to block him with one guy, sometimes two or three even, which frees other guys up offenses are scheming for TJ Watt. He's a load and he's powerful he's fast.

He's a leaper and he's looking for a second and third opinion on his torn pack muscle, hoping I'm sure to avoid surgery desperately hoping that he'll get a doctor to tell them that he doesn't need surgery. Regardless, he's knocking a play for probably a couple months will see. So it's the, the job of Malika Reed, who now morphed into an outside linebacker to step up and placed in TJ so much love you so you play the game was called so community me as well. Malika didn't even join the Steelers until a couple days before the regular season kicked off and now he's confronted with a starting role, but he does have starting experience. He spent several years with the Broncos and started 34 times in Denver. Now it's impossible to replace TJ Watt.

That's not happening but it is good to be his job to make well to make the transition but also to wreak as much havoc as he possibly can. Tybalt says the injury to Chris Godwin is not serious, they were fearing a serious hamstring injury for the box receiver doesn't believe that that could be serious and a lot before I move on the Steelers not to Harris apparently just tweaked his foot and is expected to be on the field in week number two favorite Cisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell is out for two months with a sprain and yell and then there was one more OMG injury OD but then Derek Barnett tore his ACL for the Eagles, who all right were back tonight is after hours lady Laura CBS
