The following message from Pastor Greg Laurie is made possible by harvest partners, helping people everywhere know God. If you would like to know how you can become a harvest partner, just go to harvest.org that's harvest.org so here comes Moses is all Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brothers so we look this way they look that way when he saw no one.

He killed the Egyptian and then he hit him Moses check for witnesses before he soon. Pastor Greg Morris is avoiding being seen is signed about our behavior when you're about something you should move to look around. Is anybody watching this lady look that way to get it in the will of God and the lessons from real. Sometimes we learn from their successes and times.

We learn from their failure. But it helps to see principles lived out in real life. I currently have a new beginning. Pastor Greg Laurie is helping us learn from the life of Moses. He was a great prophet, true man of God. He was a man with shortcomings and blinds. We today will learn for Moses, and learn from his okay so we let slip up the Jewish people are growing the number of their serving the Egyptians, the slaves, the Egyptians want get them out. They wanted from their numbers way back so the Pharaoh gives the degrees is that the Hebrew midwives that would deliver the little babies now that baby that's born is a boy, I want to kill up the girls could live but kill the boys apparently saw these boys is up potential threat in the future.

Well, these Hebrew midwives feared God.

The Bible says and they refused to obey what the Pharaoh told them to do that. The irony of the whole story is the Pharaoh about the boys with the threat, and it was the women who save the boys and saved Israel to preserve their nation and to women in particular are identified among the Hebrew midwives shipwright and pool, though there were others, but these two ladies are identified and it was Jock about a Miriam talk about the mother of Moses, Miriam, the sister of Moses. That obviously played a role in saving him.

And even then the Egyptian woman that ultimately had compassion on the beautiful baby boy and adopted him into her home and you remember that Moses was put that little basket covered with pitch to make it waterproof and it drifted right down there to where the Pharaoh's daughter. The Princess would spend time and she fell in love little baby Moses took him into the court and Josephus, the Jewish historian believes that Moses would have potentially been the Pharaoh of Egypt and so offering commentary on this Stephen in acts chapter 7 said at that time Moses was born. He was no ordinary child for three months.

He was cared for by his family when he was placed outside Pharaoh's daughter took them in and brought him up as her own son. Moses was educated in the wisdom of the Egyptians was powerful and speech and action. So Moses for the whole package. He was handsome, athletic smarts, and he was charismatic he could sway the masses, and then he was educated in the finest school of the day to be taught in the wisdom of the Egyptians meant he would be taught in Egyptian military tactics are music, painting, and of course the religion. This was done in what was known as the temple of the sun, which was sort of the Oxford of the ancient world, but underneath those royal robes beat the heart of a believer underneath those royal robes was a Jewish man that felt the pain of his fellow Jews who agreed to bring treated horribly as slaves to do the work of the Egyptians and the wanted to help them but he didn't know what to do. Now if he had played his cards right and kept a low profile. He could've ultimately ascended to the throne of Egypt become the Pharaoh let the people go, but for Moses. This just wasn't right. He knew that's not really what he wanted to do and we already looked at the passage in Hebrews where it says Moses chose to suffer affliction with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. I think Moses was beginning to understand this destiny. I know God wants me to help the Jewish people. But how should I do it while you have the right idea, but what about it in the wrong way.

Let's look at with Exodus 2 has to say turn there with me if you would Exodus to drop down to verse 11 that came to pass in those days, a Moses is grown. He went out to his brothers.

A look at their burdens. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his father's so we look this way the look that way when he saw no one.

He killed the Egyptian and hid them in the sand when he went out the second day behold to he remember fighting and he said to the wanted of the wrong wire you striking your companion. He said who made you a printed judge over us you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian Moses said surely this thing is know when Pharaoh heard of the matter. He sought to kill Moses, but Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh that dwelt in the land of Midian cannot stop there. Here's a quick question for all the Bible students who wrote the book of Exodus.

Who knows Moses. Now if you were Moses and you are writing these words down. Would you have written the words we just read my left that part out because Moses is not presented in the best light, and what he did here. Same is true of the book of Jonah, I mean Jonah's book is pretty amazing. Here's a guy running from God and he's going in the opposite direction. The Lord wants him to go in the Lord do some gentle but firm persuasion brings him around. There was something very fishy about it, I might add. Ultimately Jonah does what God wants him to do a massive revival breaks out and then about great story, great art. Everything's great and then at the end of the last chapter Jonah's bummed out because God didn't destroy Nineveh was complaining about it. If I were Jonah I left that last chapter out but he put it in you know why because you can trust. This book called the Bible. They presented zeros, warts and all.

It tells the truth about everything Moses is telling the truth. Then I messed up I should never have done this, and even tells us what the consequences were as a result Stephen offer some commentary on this over in acts 723 he writes it entered the mind of Moses to visit his brothers, the children of Israel. I think this is a bad idea from the outset because he would just sort of setting himself up for trouble. And sure enough he found that he saw the Egyptian slave driver mistreating a Jewish man and it's interesting to verse 12 it says he looked this way in the look that way you know if you ever look at the surveillance camera in the store you one of by the shoplifter that usually with the do they walk up to the item, the give-and-take of the private right when you're about to do something you shouldn't do. You look around.

Is anybody watching me delete this way. He looked that way. Too bad he didn't look up because if we would've looked up the Lord would've is saying no no no no no, don't do what you're about to do any chose the sky out of the kill. We don't know with his bare hands with a big stone thrust them through with sword, we don't know how he killed a buddy killed this man and then he hit him in the sand kind of thing to consider if you're going to kill someone.

Don't bury them in the sand, especially when the wind is blowing and it's only a matter of moments before the body is exposed and I went out over every Egyptian social media platform simultaneously. Moses realize surely this thing is known.

Here's the point we want to do the right thing in the right way at the right time and just as important as the will of God is, is the timing of God. Moses is showing us what happens when impulsiveness ranks. How many of you would describe yourselves as impulsive, raise your hand. I think there's more okay him and own it, by nature I am in impulsive person.

I'm the person who if I'm bringing a pizza home for dinner will eat half the pizza on the way home.

By the way, it's not easy to eat a pizza when you're driving. Some foods are easier to eat on the road than others. Reno's work very nicely. Hamburgers are challenging pizza, forget about it because you know you get to Aesop and in its dripping grease. It's hot and you know in your joy may either suddenly and only Iago so I think that the retailers understand herbals of nature. That's why when you're at the market, and you're waiting in the line and I I always go to the 12 items or less line, even if I need to buy more. I just want the shorter line and I'll be standing there with my six items and I noticed the person in front of me. I'm counting how many they had my the only one comedy review that while you're not impulsive, but your counters are to guys he was going on son Johnny 14 by my count, but I won't say anything at all think it will think it is your standing there, would you have all around you.

Things to buy on impulse, all I could buy this magazine I can buy this gum regular by these batteries. Or I could buy this parent indicates that are usually held up, but yet all things to buy them both Zante what online they really are figuring this out now you have sponsored ads on Instagram do you go dear Instagram feed and here comes an ad for something you click it. Next thing you know you've ordered this thing you didn't want that thing, but I would it's ordered it it it's already a drones already delivering it to your house. It's it's on its way. Are you order something really quickly. I was on Amazon the other day and I have a birdfeeder so I ordered a bag emergency, but I didn't pay attention to how many I ordered a one, one bag I got like 12 bags all these boxes are coming in Kelly's like what did you order looks like I got more birdseed that I wanted the birds were very happy.

They sent a tweet out with everybody you know I'm very loved and the bird community.

By the way know if you know that just asked them the one so impulsiveness is your great glory will have the second half of this message just a moment, everybody Greg Laurie here inviting you to join me every weekend for what we call Harvest at Home. It's a church service. It's a worship service.

Pastor Greg continues his message called God enough, part one, and our special thanks to our harvest partners and others who support us regularly for their help in making today's program possible.

Let me say a word to you who are single. How many of you are not married yet, your single raise her hand up okay let me just say this to you as you're looking for that right person. Take your time don't rush because sometimes people we can't wait love couples come to me that's a great will you marry us like next week. Wow. You know each other. We met last week only way you don't know each other well enough I've had couples come in for counseling and I'll say will have you had an argument yet all we don't argue it all.

Get outta here of an argument is usually doing some arguing.

I guarantee that okay so take your time. You literally spend the rest of your life with the person. If you don't want to spend the rest of your life with them. Don't bury them.

Don't add to the divorce statistics, 12 were so in love, we need to get married love is patient is first Corinthians 13 patient. I recommend a minimum of knowing each other for one year minimum one year better even longer. Kathy and I courted.

If you will for three years before we got married and we broke up three times. We got all the breakups out of our system. They had a time and these were big breakups either like I never want to see you again breakups that we got back together and it's been said love at first sight is nothing special.

It's when two people are been looking at each other for a long time that it becomes special.

I been looking at Kathy Lori for 45 years. She looks better all the time so that's sure if your love is real. It'll stand the test of time because the Bible says many waters cannot quench love. Neither can floods drown. So here comes Moses he kills the Egyptian really bad decision. He was probably just filled with anger. You know how to be when you get outraged by something so he makes this horrible decision and now the next thing he goes out in the season to Jewish guys having an argument is something I want you guys are been an argument there like who died and made you king is one sibling would say to an older sibling. You're not the boss of me like Lieut. Mike will will who elected you. The fact you to make life harder for us because now the pharaohs get a crackdown in us, and everybody knows you did this. It's out there everywhere you've ruined our like to see Moses was called to be a leader but his timing was way off. You know sometimes people think they're called to be leaders is a good test, you think you're called to be a leader goalie save anybody faultless you and no one follows you maybe are not called to be a leader not everybody is called to be one Moses was called but no one was following them yet because his timing was off Moses life can be divided into three forty-year sections. He lived to be 120 years old, he spent 40 years in the court of the Pharaoh being groomed, presumably to be the next Pharaoh. He spent 40 years in the wilderness tending sheep. Then he spent 40 years of the children of Israel wandering through the wilderness, or as it's been said he spent 40 years finding out he was a somebody 40 years. Finding out he was a nobody and then 40 years finding out what God can do with a somebody who finds out there and nobody, and I think I heard that from J. Vernon McGee the first time I'm not sure. So now he flees to the wilderness yet. You know you there's posters everywhere wanted most. This picture of him yeah I'm outta here. He goes as far as he possibly can go and he ends up becoming a shepherd now that me nothing with the big deal to us, but in Egyptian culture. They really look down on shepherds of the lowest of the low and never really sure why they did, but they did it so he goes from being the Prince of Egypt to a shepherd. He goes from being the potential heir apparent of Egypt to becoming a shepherd over someone else's sheep gone once his self-confidence and his visions of grandeur.

One person summed his life up this way. He was a child of a slave, the son of a queen he was born in the heart of the lived in a palace. He inherited poverty in the lived in royalty. He was a leader of armies in the keeper of flocks. He was the mightiest of warriors in the meekest of men. He was educated in the court and he dwelt in the desert. Yes, Moses failed but he failed forward. What is ME we all fail in life, but do we learn from our mistakes deceive you go into that bad thing.

Read the consequences of her to do it again and face the consequences and do it again to do it again and do it again. You're not learning from your mistakes. What's the definition of insanity again doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So what we want to do is fail forward.

What is it mean to failed forward. It simply means I blew it and I've learned from this mistake and I never want to do this thing again. That's what Moses did he learn from his mistakes. He was deeply humbled by it all. Don't forget the Bible says he was Moses, the man of God.

He was just still a work in progress. Sorry you saw my we all mess up in life we all fail.

We all have our lapses and I wonder there's someone here that needs a second chance today.

You failed as a husband you failed as a wife, you failed as a parent you failed as a child to your parents you you failed as a believer you have done something you're ashamed of. Okay, can you fail forward by the mean. Learn from your mistakes and not continue to repeat the bad behavior by the help of God spirit you can, but you have to come to the Lord and say Lord I I admit my sin I don't make excuses for it. I'm not blaming anybody else. I did this. I'm sorry. I want to make it right today. There might be somebody here that is run away from the Lord.

I talked about Jonah, who tried to run from God that never works. Maybe it's time for you to turn around and come back to the Lord, will I know it's time. Maybe it is, then, finally, there might be somebody here who is never put their faith in Jesus and by that I mean you're not sure, as you listen to this message that you're a child of God you know with certainty that you will go to heaven when you die. We ask this if Christ were to come back today. Would you be ready to meet him.

If the answer to those questions is no, you can change that. Right now by believing in Jesus. I meant to extend an invitation for anybody here wants to commit or recommit your life to the Lord. Let's all pray father, thank you for your word to us. Thank you for the promise of ever lasting life if we will leave in Jesus and trust him as our Savior and Lord, and I pray for anybody sharing wherever they may be that they don't know you yet they don't have you living in their life to help them come to you. Now I'm moving in Jesus name I pray for Greg Laurie important prayer with those who like to make a change in their relationship with God today if you'd like to make that kind of change. That's a great question and I guess let me take it a step further.

I know that is the most important question you can ask, how can a person know they're going to heaven. Let me say at the outset, I believe I'm going to have an effect out to get a step further. I know I'm going to heaven is a Greg is not kind of arrogant, not really, because I know this because God is made a promise to me and I've believed that promise. The Bible says we write these things to you that believe on the name of the son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. I've believed on the name of the son of God. Thus, I know I'll go to heaven when I die, here's my question to you. Do you believe on the name of the son of God, is there any more important issue and that that I can think of on so I like to lead you in a simple prayer and this is a prayer will you will be asking Jesus to forgive you of your sin and you'll be asking them to be your own Savior friend Lord.

It's a prayer. Only you can pray pray these words. If you would, Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner but I know that you are this Savior who died on the cross for my sin and rose from the dead. Jesus come in the my life. I want to believe in you. I want to follow you. I want this relationship with you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin and rising again from the dead, and I think you that you've heard this prayer and I believe you've come into my life in Jesus name I pray, amen. I want to help you grow in your faith. I want to help you grow spiritually. So I've a free gift for you. It's called the new believers growth packet what's in it know not a bag of seeds to plant in your backyard.
